Angelina Jolie gives a very revealing interview in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.
Here are a few HIGHlights from the article!
Entertainment WeeklY: In many ways you're a very polarizing figure. People either worship you or they can't stand you. Have you thought about why that is?
Angelina Jolie: I'd like to think it's because I'm not neither here nor there in my life. I think anybody that makes a decision about where they stand is going to cause strong opinions about them. But I think that's what you should be hoping for in life, so I take that as a very good sign. That some people support me and some people really don't like me tells me that I'm making decisions and I'm standing strong for something I believe in. I'm making choices in life. And that's the right thing to do.
You and Brad aren't married. How do you refer to each other?
We have that problem all the time. I say ”partner” sometimes. ”Father of my children” is too long. But half the time people refer to us as, ”So, your wife this, your husband that.” We've stopped correcting everybody. It's not a big intentional thing not to marry. We immediately were a family when we became a couple, and children were the priority, and we're both legally committed to the children. And that seemed to be the right thing.
Some people can't reconcile your old persona, where you talked about knives and cutting, with your more recent identity as a mother and activist.
But again, it's not that different. The reason I talked about going through certain pains or even cutting myself is that I was already out the other side. I knew there were people that do that — and somehow are happy that somebody admitted they did and discussed how they got out of it. I don't see the point of doing an interview unless you're going to share the things you learn in life and the mistakes you make. So to admit that I'm extremely human and have done some dark things, I don't think makes me unusual or unusually dark. I think it actually is the right thing to do and I'd like to think it's the nice thing to do.

A man will not leave his wife and risk losing his fortune or rep without trying out the new woman. For instance, why would Brad risk leaving and losing with Jen if he never "tasted" sex with Angie. What if he dumped Jen and discovered that Angie couldn't (A) give a blow job, (B) had a vagina that didn't "feel" right or was was just a plain lousy lay. These things a guy will try before taking the leap to leave a relationship where he knows the sexual styles of the wife.

I would bet my life those two were sleeping together before Jen had a clue. Also there is a misconception that only miserable people screw around-not true. Happily married people have affairs–the lust is so powerful that it overtakes all sense of moral ethics. It's exciting, forbidden and makes for really hot sex because of the forbidden aspect. Some people just can't remain faithful no matter how great their spouse is–those type need to just be single of have open marriages.

She doesn't show humility or self honesty in her interview respones rather, she justifies, crafts very guarded yet seemingly open statements, and assures herself with her responses. She does not need to have regrets, she just needs to be able to call a "mistake" a "mistake" and express how she has learned from her mistakes. Maybe she can then help to prevent others from making the same mistakes, or help others to see that they can come out the other side if they decide to no longer choose to make those mistakes. She is not conveying that she changed herself by choosing to make "better" choices that are less destructive, rather, she is conveying that she has a greater ability to ignore what may or may not have negatively affected herself and others and a greater ability to say, "what the fck, I don't care what you or anybody else thinks of me - I am telling you that I am 'honest' and I am telling you that I am doing the right things and therefore it makes it so." I hope you are right OvO … I hope she and BP have Hollywood happy ending, not because she says she will, but because they really have really worked it out to make it so. This world needs a lot more Happy Endings and I hope AJ's life is one of them!!!
