I LOVE Lady Gaga's music, but I saw her perform at a small showcase recently and she was terrible. Waited around for hours just to see her perform a few songs, and totally suck at it. Thank god for the free booze. Hopefully her live performances will improve enough to match the quality of her recorded material….or she could always lip sync

For everyone's information…Lady GAGA is huge in NY downtown, Lower East SIde music scene…she has been working the club circuit for the past few years now and its refreshing to see someone who not only writes her own music and tracks, but sings live AND gives amazing theatrical performances…Lady GAGA is truly talented and is gonna be MAJOR once her record "The Fame" drops this year… And btw, the MAdonna reference is totally plausible seeing as they both came out of underground NY music/club scene.

Interesting post so I did some research and now I'm a bit annoyed! I think it's insulting to other pop artists (that I am a BIG fan of) that MTV.com would publish an article that she is bringing BACK ART to music. Honey, art has and continues to be in pop music and will long after her. Where do you think she gets her ideas from? Like others have noted, lets see, I see Madonna (all eras), Rhianna (umbrella video), Ashley S, GWEN (DEFINITELY GWEN), and many many others. I know that all pop artists influence each other BUT it's like they're giving lady gaga credit for bringing back art? Yes, her story is more interesting, her coming from underground and all but from her show at Lollapalooza (see youtube), it wasn't as tight as now. It was her RECORD labels that helped her realize her 'visions'. How is that different from other pop artists today? Madonna had already showed a lot of her visions BEFORE she got a deal and and was not SLUTTY, sexy, cute but not slutty. Her songs also had SUBSTANCE that stand the test of time! Even Madonna's SEXY is done tastefully and classy and she ACTUALLY CAN DANCE! Also, RETRO much? Vintage even. I will give her, she has a lot of confidence and guts but she is a TRY HARD. Confidence and guts do not make her MORE original. She is not bringing ART back-She's bringing back history as in THE PAST. Why should she get credit for history when she didn't invent it? She didn't Reinvent it either. It's annoying. Got to love the media!
