I don't know what happened to him, but from what I hear he has had some pretty severe addiction issues, and I would even venture to say he appears a little bit squirrelly in this interview. He has a very impressive list of creditials, and should try to clean up his act and make a great professional and lucrative comeback. He has his foot firmly in the door, just needs to get into good physical and emotional shape. I personally know it is not easy. I was a very severe alcoholic for 15 years and a very heavy smoker to boot. One morning I just didn't get up. I stayed in bed for a week and puked, sweated, shaked and shit myself senseless. Then after that, the sun came up and it was a whole new, beautiful life. That was ten years ago.

Re: khan – I am a medical trancriber and can tell you what you went through is a phenomenom that is many times, for lack of better words, described by docters as an "addictive, psychotic break". Meaning that there are some occasions where poly-substance abusers (alcohol + nicotine, or drugs + alcohol or nicotine) become so disenchanted with their addictions that they just quit it all at once! These people are usually very, very successful at remaining sober because they did what they did very sincerely and whole heartedly and without outside influences such as rehabs and AA. My only advice is: If you are a very heavy drinker, don't ever try to quit cold turkey on your own. Alcohol is the one and only drug thats withdrawals can kill you. You either have to step it down very gradually, or get a sedetive from your doctor if you want to dry out at home. You're very lucky you didn't have some major complications from quiting very heavy drinking cold turkey. I have seen a lot of cases where people have died from alcohol withdrawal or their internal organs have shut down.
