Tim Russert has just passed away.

The Meet The Press host suffered a heart attack on Friday, his family has said.

He was just 58.

Russert was at work at the NBC Studios in Washington, D.C., today when he was struck with cardiac arrest. He was unable to recover.

So sad.

Our condolences to his family on this very tragic and sudden loss.

    140

To everyone congratulating Perez for having this up first, it's because he STOLE THE STORY from the New York Times and didn't give them credit. Do you really think Tim Russert's family called frigging PEREZ HILTON to give him the scoop???

  41. Some says – reply to this

    141

This in a nutshell is why the country is turning to shit. I don't care how young you are, EVERYONE on this board should know who he is. And all those saying, "Who," "Who cares," etc. are too dumb to even realize how stupid they sound. Good luck getting real jobs, faux hipster douchebags.

  42. 142

I feel sooooo awful. I looooveeeddd Tim Russert! RIP man. I feel very very badly for his family.

  43. JP says – reply to this

    143

When I first began following politics, I started watching Meet The Press on NBC. I really enjoyed watching Mr. Russert interview politicians from all arenas; he had such an ease & candor with all of them. He also seemed to be a genuinely nice person-especially on the shows when he would talk about his father. I am simply shocked by his death. He was one of those journalists who really made you feel like you knew them. My heart goes out to his family, and his many friends & collegues.

Well, this is sad…Tim Russert was a great newsman/talking head/moderator….most importantly, he seemed like a great son to his father (and vice versa). I hope Big Russ can stand this pain. Tim Russert was someone who you may never have met, but ya felt like you knew him, and might enjoy bullshittin' with over a beer. Peace out, big guy.

  65. 165

That's just awful. Tim Russert was probably the best political journalist we've had in a long time. Someone mentioned the white dry erase board. I remember that. Saturday Night Live spoofed it too. CNN reported that had just returned from from a family vacation in Italy to celebrate his son's college graduation. Really sad.

TIM RUSSERT WAS A REAL CLASS ACT. HE WAS ONE OF THOSE VERY FEW JOURNALIST THAT YOU COULD TRUST GETTING THE REAL FACTS FROM. HE WAS DEFINITELT JOURNALISM WITH A CAPITAL "J". HIS DEVOTION TO HIS FAMILY,AND ESPECIALLY HIS FATHER WAS VERY DEEP.IT'S SAD BECAUSE I'M ONLY IN MY EARLY TWENTIES,AND EVEN I REALIZE THAT ALL THE GOOD ONES ARE EITHER BEING PUSHED OUT OF THE INDUSTRY,OR PASSING AWAY.THE PEOPLE ON THIS POST WHO TOOK TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY JUST TO MAKE CRUEL COMMENTS ON THE PASSING OF ONE OF THE COUNTRIES GREAT JOURNALISTS SHOULD FEEL AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF SHAME.FORTUNATELY FOR HIS FAMILY THEY WILL NEVER HAVE TO WITNESS FIRSTHAND HOW INCREDIBLY IGNORANT SOME PEOPLE CAN BEHAVE.
