Tim Russert has just passed away.

The Meet The Press host suffered a heart attack on Friday, his family has said.

He was just 58.

Russert was at work at the NBC Studios in Washington, D.C., today when he was struck with cardiac arrest. He was unable to recover.

So sad.

Our condolences to his family on this very tragic and sudden loss.

OMG. I'm shocked, really, loved him. He was from Buffalo, across he lake, and I loved seeing him on Meet The Press, he kept politics interesting, like his coverage of the Florida voting mess. Then he wrote a great book about his dad, and did interviews about his younger days and non-political stuff, he was awesome. Rest in Peace, Tim, you taught a lot of people about what was going on. Thanks.

Re: topo – Ok, you need to go away and find a good shrink. You are beyond absurd…..THIS IS A TRIBUTE/BLOG decicated to a great man's passing. You are not even original and you certainly won't ever be in the position to suceed or fail, because you probably haven't left Mom's basement in years. Perez, thank you for posting about Tim Russert, it is nice to see so many nice tributes. Final thought to you PH, even if your Hot Topic doesn't sell out, embrace the moment for what you did and tried. Many, many a great man has tried and failed and tried and suceeded etc, etc…Milton Hershey for one example….have fun with it if, need be…there are always other projects on the horizen.

OMG this is so sad. He was such a smart guy and such a class act. I'm in total shock… I don't think there's a journalist that I've trusted more in my lifetime than Tim. I remember back to the 2000 election, weeks before the election he had his little white board out and he wrote just three words on it, "FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA" and I've respected him so much since. What a loss to the news world, journalism, and the world in general cuz he was just such a great guy. Election year won't be nearly the same without him. Rest in peace Tim, we'll miss you terribly.

One of my favorite books is Russert's "Big Russ and Me" about his childhood and his relationship with his father. I gave it to my father on the Father's Day before he passed away. He loved the book, and so did I.

I hope his children and family know that he was a special man, even to those of us who never met him. He'll be doing the election coverage for the Angels in Heaven.
Rest in Peace Tim. You helped me understand our crazy election process and never belittled your viewers or guests. Meet the Press will forever have an empty chair.

Okay, okay, okay, you guys who keep posting about the failed Hot Topic Line. We all get it. Yesterday was Perez bashing day. Today is honor Tim Russert day. Do you really think Perez reads the posts? If he had time to read the posts, he would just flip by your fucked up comments anyway. It's a nice day here, finally, in PDX, and you are bumming me out. Tim Russert passed away today, and it truly makes me sad. But stop with the HOT TOPIC bullshit. It hasn't even launched nationally yet. If you really WANT it to fail, quit posting about it. It makes me want to buy it just to spite some of you fuckwads.

    294

This is just the saddest thing. He was the best of both worlds. Frighteningly bright and articulate, but someone you know it would be fun to go have a beer with. I loved when he was on the Today Show and he, Matt and Ann would get all snarky with each other. Always so funny. I am, however, so shocked that so many people don't know who he is yet can manage to operate a computer. I'd think you morons would be rocking in a corner somewhere. What say, just for today, you pretend to be human beings and have a little respect. No one thinks your remarks are funny, ironic, or in any way meaningful. They just interrupt the rest of us who are trying to remember a truly remarkable man.

He is a man who truly will be missed. So sorry to his family.. he was celebrating his son graduating college and he died. I can't even imagine what his family is going through. to all the ignorant stupid people who say WHO IS HE? OR WORSE WHO CARES? Go and get an education… BE MORAL FOR ONCE!
