If only this magical man were still here he could stop the flood waters in Iowa with a wave of his hands. He could bring back those dead girls in Oklahoma with a story about Lil Russ and cousin Russ. He could declare that the escaped Taliban fighters in Afghanistan were back in their jail cells and it would be so. Of all the obese Irish Catholic loudmouths on tv, this one changed everyone's lives for the better. I will worship him forever and ever, no matter what the Bible says about idolatry. If God had known how much great stuff Tim Russert could do, he would have sent him to die for our sins instead of Jesus. Stupid God!! Why can't you be more like Tim Russert?! Some wiseguy might have spoken up and tried to stop the invasion of Iraq and then where would we be? This is the most tragic and important thing that has ever happened. Period.

We Americans do indeed understand quality when we see it and Luke embodies quality, no doubt instilled and nutured in him by his parents. The deserving tributes that Tim is receiving are so telling of the man himself, truth and integrity speaks volumes and engenders respect from people that span the spectrum of humankind.
Sidenote: Next time Paris tells us she's a "National Icon" we should tell her emphatically that she is not or never will be. Tim Russert was a National Icon and Paris does not have an ant's worth of integrity or intelligence compared to Tim or his son Luke. Tim was a national treasure and has left us with a huge void.
