I'm a Coldplay fan but even I'll admit that it's suspicious and pretty messed up.
Not to mention they copy U2 like it's their job. Chris sounds and even ACTS just like Bono in this song/video/in his every day life. Could there be a less creative band than this? They're horrible.

They started recording stuff for this album at the end of their last tour in '06. I HIGHLY doubt Chris Martin heard this guy's shitty song 8 months ago and thought, "HMMNM! Let me steal this and put it on my new album!"

I can see where it sounds KIND of similar, but there's no way they are alike enough to be the same. Plus the melody is pretty common, it's sort of logical the way the length of notes goes and such. Definitely not plagiarism.

Ok… I'm all for original music.. but its impossible these days! I don't blame artists for their songs sounding 'similar' b/c every artist has sampled some portion of another's music. If you really want to be a stickler.. you could probably take any song on the radio and dissect it into 10 previous songs.. its all mixing these days! So who cares! Coldplay obvious knows how to do it better than Creaky Boards or we'd not be having this posting…

umm…the melodies are barely alike. They both just stretch out the middle of the word, but the notes they hit are fairly different. It definitely doesn't sound like Chris heard the song and was like "OMG i need to copy it!" If anything it was coincidence that they kinda sound similar. How about hating on Kanye for never coming up with his own stuff?

Given the fact that Coldplay has always called themselves, cheekily, 'the best coverband in the world' I don't really know what you're so surprised at Perez. I don't know why you've been on such a coldplay-hate lately. They've always drawn inspiration for songs from other artists, sometimes blatantly, sometimes not so much. The fact still stands that what little similarities there are between these two songs, the melody itself isn't really all that complicated. Chris & co. just make it sound good.
Yeah there is an ever so slight similarity between the beats of the one line but they are not alike at all. Sooooooo many songs now of days have similar beats, that DOESN'T mean that they were plagiarized!!!!!!!!!1 Coldplay is one of the best bands of today. Most of the others suck. Chris Martin is a beautiful singer/songwriter.
Just because it wasn't released until now doesn't mean they're song came out first. they've been working on this album for years.

Of all the songs in the world, and the significantly fewer notes in the world, these two songs happen to share a couple similar notes. The instruments are different, the lyrics are COMPLETELY different, the vibes sent from each song are totally different. This is absolutely no form of plagiarizing or even mimicking the other song. The bitch in the video needs to grow a pair, as do you, Perez.

it is inevitable that songs are going to sound alike, there is similarities but not enough to declare plagiarism, besides coldplay's version is way better and his little known band is going to get free publicity for there average efforts, so why's he complaining?

Let's be honest. ONE part of the song sounds similar to Viva La Vida. But the rest sounds nothing like it. Is it completely outlandish to think that two bands might think of the same melody, but not piece it together in the same way with the rest of the song? No, buddy, you're not hearing YOUR song all over town. You're hearing a Coldplay song that is much better that sounds a bit like your song. Get over yourself. As for which one suits the commercial better? Isn't it time we moved past angsty teens listening to music in their bedrooms to something more mind-expanding like what Coldplay writes about? I'm all for that. Viva La Vida is an amazingly resfreshing song, and in no part is that due to some band called The Creaky Boards.

As a massive coldplay fan, i can see there are minor similarites in a few of the beats in the live version but the coldplay song has more meaning and soul and more technique. The "orginal" version lacks direction and co-ordination. The person wouldnt have a case.

It's not even that similar. In order for something to violate copyright, you have to have more than 7 notes in a row that are exactly the same. The coldplay song doesn't even come close to that threshold.

Of course the words are different and Coldplay's is more polished because it is a commercial studio recorded album. The melody is completely the same.
