seriously they sound nothing alike. if someone took the time to find a similar song to every other song that's been released, everything would be called "plagiarized." i don't understand how you can hate on coldplay so much, especially because you used to like them so much in the beginning.
They both just sound like stupid, generic tries at retro.
Now that's just shady.

yes, the first five notes or so are similar, but the rest of the song is not the same…anybody with an ear for music and who's not tone-deaf can hear the difference!

Bullshit! Those songs are only vaguely similar and statistically there are only a limited number of note combinations so its very possible that the guys from coldplay came up with a similar melody. That's fine, your opinion is yours however, I don't see anything wrong with this clip and Coldplay song. They are not the same. The beginning of the song sounds a little similar, but that's just the riff. Coldplay's song is no way similar to this clip. I'll have to differ with you on this one

Denial is not a great place to be! If you listen to these two songs and don't think Chris Martin stole the melody from Creaking Boards, you are deaf in one in and cant' hear out of the other. okay, firstly the chords in the songs are strikingly similar.
having a largely auditory memory i can hear something once and have it memorized especially a melody.
i'm no musician but i assume lots of musician's brains function this way.
i'm really not sure if it is technically plagiarism, because i'm not sure if you can copyright a melody. be that as it may the obvious lack of creative effort on coldplay's part is something that often happens to mainstream artists who are given strict deadlines to create hit songs. i really don't care for coldplay though.

The melodies sound VERY similar, and I think The Creaky Boards could make a good case against Coldplay.
Also, Coldplay's lyrics for their song are a bit absurd and meaningless; much like their music is in general imho.

I am a musician. It sounded like another musician heard the original (Chris Martin) and made it his own by changing the key and the lyrics… I think the original musician should expect a check soon and if he plays it right a record contract.

Oh and another thing I didn't see a date stamp on the video. Who's to say that wasn't filmed after Viva La Vida was released, and none of this matters anyway because they music is different and the melody is a bit similar but I don't think you can copyright a melody anyway!! So there are many reasons why this case would not make it to court.

Re: SARI – This is just a small little band looking for attention. And by the way, Coldplay asked Kraftwerk for permission to use one of their melodies in their song 'Talk'. They have always been open about that and Kraftwerk are credited in the sleeve of X&Y.
