Two Faced???

Filed under: Politik > Al Gore

wenn1726093.jpg

Talk about hypocrisy!

Hardcore environmentalist and the man behind An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore, is apparently not following what he preaches.

Gore has taken steps this past year to make his Tennessee home more energy-efficient. However, it looks like the OPPOSITE took place.

According to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, Gore's home energy use has risen by more than 10% over the past year!

The amount of energy used in his home during the past year could have powered about 232 homes in the US for an entire month!

Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, says "A man's commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home. Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption."

Shortly after the Tennessee Center for Policy Research first exposed Gore's home energy use, the former VP tried to quickly make changes to his home energy consumption.

Gore installed a geothermal system, solar panels, replaced the home's ductwork and windows, and even added energy efficient light-bulbs.

However, his new and energy efficient looking house is now waisting even more power.

How is that possible????

Gore was originally burning up an average of 17,768 kWh per month, which is 1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations. The energy consumption costs him $16,533.

According to the Energy Information Administration, the average American household consumes only 11,040 kWh in an entire year. That's over 6,000 kWh less than Gores uses in a month!

TCPR President Johnson, added, "Actions speak louder than words, and Gore's actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity. Gore is exploiting the public's concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile."

The reason for those comments?

When the film An Inconvenient Truth was released in 2007, Gore won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. He also won a Grammy, an Oscar, and the Nobel Peace Prize.

It seems Gore's made quite a lot of money promoting for a greener environment.

He made an estimated extra $100 million last year.

What do U think Al Gore should do about his extreme energy use?

Give him a break, no one knows the whole story-maybe his electric car is effecting the electric bill, no one really knows and hes made an effort and trying to make a difference which is more than most people can say -and i think its a bit premature to start calling him a hypocrit just yet, lets hear the whole story.

I wish you used proper grammar on a regular basis.

"However, his new and energy efficient looking house is now **waisting** even more power."

I enjoy this blog but somehow feel stupid after reading it. Now that you're making decent money through this website, you should invest in a proofreader or an editor to help you to gain credibility.

  3. 103

Gore did NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT win an Oscar….An Inconvenient Truth won for Best Documentary, but Gore wasn't even nominated..it would be like if American Idol won an Emmy..Ryan Seacrest would not get an emmy….gore was just the fucking host

Hybrids are another joke. It takes MORE resources to build that car than what they are supposed to save. You're better off with a regular Honda Civic.

    105

It says he's using more energy but it doesn't say where that energy is coming from. If he's using more energy but all that energy is coming from the solar panels he installed then he's still living greener then the average American. I think the exact source of all this energy he's using has to be known before we pass judgment based on his wattage alone.

I hope this finally exposes all these hypocrite liberals. Guess what, people? Man-made global warming is a huuuuge scam and this proves it. Yes, we've had slight warming on earth in the last few years but it hasn't been caused by humans, it's a result of sun spots and proof of that is that all the other planets in our solar system have had an increase in average temperatures. Al Gore was super, super bitter when he lost in 2000 and he brainstormed for a long time to come up with a way to punish the American people and the man-made global warming scam is the result. He wants us to conserve and sacrifice to the point that it becomes incredibly painful. He wants us to dramatically cut back our quality of life to punish us in the name of a movement that he created, which is total bullshit. Professional climate people took him seriously at first and studied what he proposed and the vast majority have rejected his claims and have confirmed that it's bunk. If you're still not convinced, look at the carbon credit scam that has spawned from the man-made global warming scam. Guess who profits from the general public buying carbon credits??? Gore!! It's all royal bullshit, folks. Burn as much gas and use as much power as you want. Don't let conman Gore affect you in any way!!

he buys carbon credits to offset his ecofootprint. which is what he asks others who use lots of energy to do.

change doesnt happen over night. he also moved his offices into his home!

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, is an extreme right wing group that is distorting the facts for political gain.

As a former U.S. vice president, Mr. Gore's energy consumption is greatly affected by security concerns that other citizens do not have to take into consideration. Specifically: He has round-the-clock secret service protection including survalance cameras that are mandated by his security detail. His home is also a place of business. It is where he holds staffing meetings and greets many visitors.

Please take these and other facts into consideration when right wing types try to smear this good man's name.

    111

Perez–don't succumb to the lame trash tactics of the republicans. Don't you think this story leaking is a tad convenient considering Gore formally endorsed Obama for President a few days ago?

McCain's camp needs to make Gore look as bad as possible–since Gore is the current poster child for the environment and McCain is trying to be an environmental candidate. McCain NEEDS to discredit Gore in any way he can to try and claim the votes of that group–not that he will.

I love that you talk politics but you have a powerful tool and should know better than to run this kind of bullshit press coverage in an election year.

  12. Dave says – reply to this

    112

What Perez and others fail to mention is that Gore's house is more than just his home. Both he and Tipper have offices there where they and members of their staffs work. His house is also a great deal larger than the average American house. Compare apples to apples before you start calling names.

  13. hmm says – reply to this

    113

While I respect his efforts to educate the public, he undermines those efforts with such hypocrisy. People will see this and say, "Oh, it must really be a hoax," which it is not. It is real and it would benefit everyone to take steps to make the earth healthier for the future generations. He should take his own medicine and practice what he preaches. This is why I hate politicians!

  14. AMP says – reply to this

    114

While I am never a Gore defender, I am sure the changes he has made in the public's behavior has well outweighed his increase in energy use.

Further, perhaps some of the energy efficient upgrades he has made in his home use more energy to build, and much less in the long-run.

  15. fire says – reply to this

    115

Well, for starters, his house is probably about 15 times the size of your adverage American home, therefore it will burn a lot more electricity. He is still an asshole, though.

Uhm…the dude is rich. A big house uses more energy than a trailer in a trailer park. This is the same kind of attack the right used on John Edwards saying he can't speak out for the poor because he is so rich. Conveniently that would mean that only the poor could speak out for the poor and people in small houses can only speak out on the enivironment. Since no one listens to the poor that would mean that the poor and the environment get fucked. When did you turn into such a rightwinger?

What is unusual is for this discrepancy to be exposed so nakedly, as in Mr. Gore's electric bill now made public. How will he get around it, when the messenger doesn't understand the message?

Even though I think Al Gore is an idiot, these facts are probably a little bit exaggerated. It's troubling that he is so strongly for his advocated beliefs, yet cannot live up to his standards. How can he expected others to follow his policies if he cannot do the same. I think people who feel so strongly about global warming should be upset with Gore rather than sticking to his side immediately. This guy did the believers a disservice and weakened your cause. I don't really care about Gore, but when I see people leaving comments like "OMG PEREZZZZ how could u post dis?! This article is totally fake, don't believe it!!!", it makes me believe you guys are the ignorant ones. 154

i'm really surprised by the comments here. i rather thought that perez readers would be on the liberal side for some reason. nevertheless, before we start calling al gore a hypocrite, perhaps we should wait for an explanation. after the first "discovery" last year of gore's high electrical bill, he explained that not only does he have a larger house than most which holds several offices for him and his staff, he also pays a higher electric bill due to the extra cost of energy SAVING technology which he uses. since then, he implemented several more aggressive energy saving tools of which the above article speaks. if his energy use went up, think how much more energy he saved by going to these measures? his staff may have gotten larger, etc. because of his recent successes on spreading the global warming message. as for him "doing it for the money," we should also remember that al gore gave 100% of his proceeds from the movie "inconvenient truth" as well as the accompanying book. he does more for global warming and this country than many people appreciate, which was far before being environmental became the "trendy" thing to do.

So many errors in this article. comparing his ANNUAL energy use to others MONTHLY energy use. first they say it's 19x higher, then later in the same article, 0.5x higher.

His house uses more energy than an average American house because it's bigger. But you can be sure it uses less energy than a house of that size, less than a house of anyone with half is income, and especially less than the house of Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

Al Gore just wants attention. He picked the environment, because that is on everyone's mind, and he knows that someone will listen. All he is, is nothing but a rich freak that is in love with himself and his money. Hey, for a hundred million I would blab a bunch of hypocrisy, but then again I am not greedy. He shouldn't get paid for his commitment to the environment.

People that are true to their cause do it for free. It goes to show money is his true intention, and the environment can take a flying Fu@K. He should give back his peace prize, and exchange of biggest liar in the field of hypocrisy.

Typical liberal, do as I say not as I do.

Wake up sheep. Al is all about the mighty dollar. He is invested in these "Green Companies" to sucker you out of your hard earned money. Carbon Credits? Come on people, have you ever heard of a "Snake Oil" salesman? Also know as a con artist.

One of the earlier posts had it correct, GWB's home in Texas is more energy efficient. Do the research.

I can't wait until even the uneducated dolts that still belive that Mankind causes any temperature change on this earth are forced to realize that Global Warming is a myth foisted on the foolish masses by people making Millions. Including (especially) Al Gore. Politicians are amassing power and accumulating money based on this myth. Bottom Feeder "scientists" are making a better living getting million dollar grants for wacko "studies". Did anyone read the news article yesterday from some pseudo-scientist who did a "study" "proving" that Global Warming causes earthquakes" How about the companies selling sham "Global Warming Credits". In Europe they are trying to pass a tax based on carbon credits used. THAT'S JUST ANOTHER TAX YOU DOLTS. They will empty your pockets and YOU WILL GET NOTHING. God, it there any more effective way to prove our school systems are failing. I'm depressed……….

    THANK YOU, PEREZ!

This guy is into the M-O-N-E-Y. He could give two shits about the environment. His bank account says it all - $100 million promoting green???

    He is a freakin farce!

He thrives on sheeple/douchebags like this:
"With what he does for the environment, and the awareness he brings to millions and millions of people, I think you should leave him be and not blow something so out of proportion—giving him a bad name and causing negativity to flourish where it needn't be. And I think you should learn how to spell. 'Waisted' is just plain stupid. And you know, so is this site."

Effin' idiot! Grow a brain, and some balls while you are at it.

Gore's actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity

This is no news. It has been reported by a certain reporter since last year/possible longer. The only news is that a liberal has finally acknowledged it and reported it.

The issue is not whether Gore uses more energy than other Americans. (He has a bigger house so, of course, he's going to use more energy.) Gore is the pitchman for the global warming scam so he's obliged to practice what he preaches. He's supposed to cut back on his energy usage just as he's asking us to do. Yet, his usage is higher than it was a year ago. It doesn't matter that he may have offices in his house or meetings or whatever. The point is that his "carbon footprint" is bigger than last year. That is insanely hypocritical. He wants us to buy into his scam when he refuses to. Way to lead by example, Al, you fucking fraud, fuck you! And please don't anyone on this site defend him in any way because this is outrageous!!

"…but I just can't move out of my mansion… you must understand that Tipper and I have grown accustomed to this fat cat lifestyle and wouldn't be caught dead living in anything smallish." Al, do you know how much energy it wastes to feed yourself more food than is required? It looks like you eat twice what your body needs. Glutony is most un-green. BLEH.

First of all, an Academy Award is the same as an Oscar. Check your sources you dumb fuck! The guy giving you (or whatever site/source you stole this from) is a hard-core republican whose sole priority is to spread bullshit republican propaganda that parasites like yourself will latch on to so it will spread to the ignorant like wildfire. It's unfortunate that everyday you prove yourself to be part of those ignorant.
