Talk about hypocrisy!
Hardcore environmentalist and the man behind An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore, is apparently not following what he preaches.
Gore has taken steps this past year to make his Tennessee home more energy-efficient. However, it looks like the OPPOSITE took place.
According to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, Gore's home energy use has risen by more than 10% over the past year!
The amount of energy used in his home during the past year could have powered about 232 homes in the US for an entire month!
Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, says "A man's commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home. Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption."
Shortly after the Tennessee Center for Policy Research first exposed Gore's home energy use, the former VP tried to quickly make changes to his home energy consumption.
Gore installed a geothermal system, solar panels, replaced the home's ductwork and windows, and even added energy efficient light-bulbs.
However, his new and energy efficient looking house is now waisting even more power.
How is that possible????
Gore was originally burning up an average of 17,768 kWh per month, which is 1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations. The energy consumption costs him $16,533.
According to the Energy Information Administration, the average American household consumes only 11,040 kWh in an entire year. That's over 6,000 kWh less than Gores uses in a month!
TCPR President Johnson, added, "Actions speak louder than words, and Gore's actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity. Gore is exploiting the public's concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile."
The reason for those comments?
When the film An Inconvenient Truth was released in 2007, Gore won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. He also won a Grammy, an Oscar, and the Nobel Peace Prize.
It seems Gore's made quite a lot of money promoting for a greener environment.
He made an estimated extra $100 million last year.

Is there any chance the increase in usage occurred during the time the upgrades were being made due to the electricity used during the renovations? I'm sure they used power tools to get the work done. It would be more interesting and relevant to see his power usage over the next year.

This is like comparing apples to oranges.. this isn't just his home, this also serves as an office. Instead, let's compare his home to that of a small office complex and then run the story.
I live down the street from Al's place in Nashville. He doesn't not live there for the most part. It is not a mansion at all. It is large but not a mansion. He did not have any solar panels until this past year when everyone gave him a hard time for his house. He is a fake and hypocritical person. He has never had a real job in his life. I guess he is smart in a way that he has made millions and never had a real job but it is still wrong. I feel that makes him a bad person. In the end it will show that he is CRAZY and is only in it for the money. Most people in his home state would agree.
Congrats, Perez. You finally figured out that all of the wealthy pols & celebs are hypocrites. Maybe there is hope for you yet. Nah.

FYI.. Al and Tipper Gore made over $100 mill last year BECAUSE they owned and sold a substantial amount of stock in Google. The Gore's home is over 25,000 sq ft, and it's a unbelievable that they don't pay MORE in energy costs for a home that size.

It sounds more to me that someone else maybe falsely reporting or whoever did his new installations screwed him over big time. Hello people if solar panels are installed improperly them guess what? Your solar panels will begin to draw off the grid. Sounds more to me that he got con'd by a contractor or intentionally sabatoged. My fam has been in construction for many generations and this just seems like the hot shot got scammed. Again this is people attaching a messenger and trying to deface his image. Isn't it funny that this is coming out when our dear Bushie is trying to drill off shore the US cost lines. What Bushie isn't telling us is that we wouldn't see a barrel of that oil for approx. 10 years, is that really going to help us NOW with our gas prices? By the time that oil is in production we should have air cars like what is being developed in France. I may not be a fan of his, but George Bush's Texas ranch is very environmentally conscious….you should do a little research. Gore and global warming is a sham. Of course we are destroying our environment and should reduce our rate of consumption, but global warming is more about science. Read about weather trends over the years.

Ever heard of the difference between "CO2 Puritans" and "CO2 Pragmatists"?
The former ones believe everybody should cut as many CO2 emissions as possible.
The later ones (and this obviously includes Al Gore) believe that you should substitute as much energy from oil and coal… with renewable energy AND purchase carbon offsets to counter "unavoidable" CO2 emissions. Those offsets aren't only used to plant trees, but mainly to subsidize the development of new "green" technology.
So now quit whining and ranting about hypocrisy. Get informed! That topic is way more complex than some smears over a photo and a bunch of biased sentences which don't even claim to be proper journalism!
And no matter if you believe in Global Warming or not: doesn't it make sense to you that recycling, switching off lights, using smaller cars,… don't take much effort, save money AND save is god for the environment???

Yes, Al Gore IS a hypocrite! Mr. Gore had a chance to SAVE this country from the neo-fascism that is slowly encroaching upon us by doing one simple thing and that is running for the Democratic presidential nomination in the current election. He would have won the presidency. That is CERTAIN. If Mr. Gore TRULY had the best interest(s) of his country at heart, he would have done just that and assured all patriotic, concerned Americans of a Democratic, intelligent, competent, environmentally concerned president in the next term. But, for whatever reason, he declined to put the best interests of this country as a priority. I agree with his message of environmentalism and his (assumed) political beliefs in the constitution but I think that he forfeited the best interests of our country by wimping out on a run for the presidency this term. Al Gore: you had the opportunity to save us all and you declined. COWARD!!!!!!
