Blame Jamie Lynn! And Juno!

Filed under: Baby Blabber > Wacky, Tacky & True

jamielynnspears2.jpg

17 teen girls from Gloucester, Massachusetts' high school are pregnant, according to Time magazine.

For reals.

AND, none of the sperminted teens are older than 16!!!!!!!

That's not the kicker.

Concerned school officials trying to figure out why sooooo many girls became preggers discovered that nearly half the expecting students confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together.

WTF????

WHY?????????

Dumb! DUmb! Dumb!

Time goes on to say that the girls who made the pregnancy pact reacted to the news that they were expecting with high fives and plans for baby showers.

Wait.

There's more craziness.

The principal of the high school reports, "We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy."

Why would the teens go out of their way to get pregnant?

The preggers 17 declined to be interviewed, but a recent graduate of Gloucester High, who gave birth to a babe her freshman year tells the mag, "They're so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally. I try to explain it's hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m."

And, it's asserted that the high school has done perhaps too good a job of embracing young mothers.

Sex-ed classes end freshman year at Gloucester, where teen parents are encouraged to take their children to a free on-site day-care center.

The Gloucester school committee reportedly plans to vote later this summer on whether to provide contraceptives. The town is called very Catholic, so who knows how that vote will go down.

But some say that won't do much to solve the issue of teens wanting to get pregnant.

A classmate of the girls in the pregnancy pact said, "No one's offered them a better option."

So sad that the teens there feel so hopeless.

What do you think needs to be done?

Someone needs to do an anti-Juno flick…fast!

Teen pregnancy is not a good 'trend'.

It's not to be taken lightly!

P.S. Note to all the boys: She may tell you she's on the pill, but use a condom AND pull out as well!

hey high school girls - what happened to going to college, meeting new guys, joining a sorority, partying, making new friends? REALLY are all your aspirations about getting knocked up with your girlfriends so you can have cute little baby girls you can dress up like dolls? do you know how much diapers cost? formula? b/c god knows you won't breast feed your kid…whatcha gonna do when you're 32 years old and you find out YOU'RE going to be a grandma b/c your 16 year old daughter is knocked up too? how are you gonna support the kid of the kid you probably only were able to support b/c of the government and mommy and daddy…stupid cunts!

I think one of the girls said what the problem was, she wanted to feel loved. That's the parents job, the problem is their parents are, I am sure, more lost then the pregnant girls are. Unfortunately when your young you think the most stupid shit is a good idea. And you can't tell a young person anything, adults are all stupid, don't you all remember feeling the same way. I think what they should do in sex ed is show pics of bodies before pregnancy and bodies after, that will make them close their legs real quick. STRETCH MARKS, SAGGY BREASTS, DARK NIPPLES, sounds great doesn't it!!!!!!

    103

well, obviously this is a stupid idea. but hey! if those teenage girls want to put themselves through everything thats gonna follow their babies than they can. in a sense it is a really cute, loving thing to do, but hardwork always follows what comes out of your womb. i hope they can survive the rest of their high school years!

Re: P – You are a fucking moron. This happens in other countries, too. Shit, I'm from Norway and alot of the kids in my year in school are pregnant or have a kid, too! Don't be a dick. People all around the world are fucking at a younger age all the time.

Note to all you idiot parents who think only teaching your kids abstinence is a great idea, wake up and smell the diapers your kids are having sex and unless they know how to use protection they wont! sex is happening younger and younger and kids (yes kids) need to be prepared both emotionally and with protection readily available to them. a kid who is going to have sex is going to do it whether or not they have protection but maybe, just maybe if its right there and free they will use it.
And a note to these 17 kids, if you need someone to love you your not ready for a kid. get a fucking puppy or better yet a gold fish, then if you kill it you can flush it down the toilet. PLUS a fish is WAY cheaper than a kid, and far quieter.

  7. Steve says – reply to this

    107

There is absolutely nothing wrong with teens having sex, but have any of these girls heard of protection? They think having babies will be fun now, but most of them will probably hate it in a few months, or weeks. Either way, I bet all of them will end up being better mothers than Nancy Grace.

  9. PinK says – reply to this

    109

That's America for you. Blame the parents!! Where are the parents while theie teens are having sex? Have some control in your kids life and don't act like "cool" parents and let them out whenever. And who do these girls think they are? Angelina Jolie? Stay in school and get a education cause obivoulsy USA needs it.

What on earth did these girls want to achieve? Babies arent always cutesy little things they're hard work!

They've totally wasted their childhood. That's sad.

I Waited to get married then waited a few years after that and just had my first baby at 30. Dosnt anyone do that anymore? These girls are so stupid they dont know what they are in for. I have my husband to help and its still hard. You know who I feel sorry for…the innocent Babies they are the ones who will suffer the most

  14. Annie says – reply to this

    114

I'm from MA, and go to a college in Boston. My high school only had like 380 people but there were at least 5 girls who were pregnant every year. My friends from NJ and NY here at college went to much larger high schools but teenage pregnancy was almost unheard of there. Makes me wonder about sex ed here in Massachusetts.

  15. T V S says – reply to this

    115

Seriously if anybody watched Juno and thought "wow that would be fun" they must have been on some sort of happy drugs. The point of the movie is that pregnancy is not cool, pretty much ever, and at the young age of these girls in high school it makes you an outcast. Of course I suppose if 16 of your closest friends are also pregnant that makes you less of an outcast, but that doesn't make pregnancy (OR THE RESULTING INFANT!!) any more fun. frak.

Very few girls I went to high school with got pregnant.. or should I say decided to have and keep the baby. and I didn't go to high school THAT long ago that things have changed that much.

  16. HY says – reply to this

You are even more stupid than I thought Perez! Wear a condom, yes. But the pull out method has been proven to be ineffictive in preventing pregnancy.

    120

"P.S. Note to all the boys: She may tell you she's on the pill, but use a condom AND pull out as well!"

Maybe guys should use a condom anyways, or wait, are they too stupid to realize that it takes two people to make a child?

Oh well, let's just blame the girl, since she won't get enough flack when she's 15 and as big as a house.

If everyone of these fifteen year old's babydaddies would have worn a condom, I am going to say there would possibly be one pregnant girl, not seventeen.

    Nevermind, lets just blame Juno.

  21. FkPrz says – reply to this

    121

Perez, I started visiting your site in the past year, and it seems the more popular you get, the dumber you get. Juno? Seriously? As someone else said, did you ever see the movie? A teenager accidentally getting pregnant and giving the child up for adoption inspired these girls to fuck a homeless man ten years older than them so they could have a baby and keep it? Do you ever think before you write? It's idiotic shit like this that makes me embarassed to visit your site. The anti-Juno movie? What, a teen gets pregnant, has an abortion and grows up to become president? At her inauguration she'll stand up and say "I wouldn't be here today without that abortion I had at 15!"

I really need to stop coming to this site unless I want to end up as dumb as you.

  22. ROE says – reply to this

    122

READ THE ARTICLE IN TIME MAGAZINE IT IS VERY INTERESTING. AND IT IS ALSO UNFAIR TO BLAME THE MOVIES.

  23. Me says – reply to this

    123

Perez, you can't blame a movie on teen pregnancy. It's as dumb as blaming a rap song on murder. They are lacking guidance at home. that's the problem. If anyone you need to be blaming their parents.

  24. Mo says – reply to this

    124

How about blaming the girls who got pregnant, the boys who got them pregnant and the parents of these children! As soon as my daughter was ready to have sex (she was 16 and involved with a long term boyfriend ) she came to me and guess what, we put her on birth control! COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CHILDREN!!!!!!!

  25. Kay says – reply to this

    125

Someone did make an anti-Juno film. It was called "For Keeps" with Molly Ringwald. The problem is that these girls are too young to have seen it.

  26. Bethy says – reply to this

    126

    1. Juno indeed DOES glamorize teenage pregnancy. It makes it seem cute and easily resolved, when it reality it is anything but.

    2. Perez, you should know better than to advise pulling out as a legitimate birth control method! Using a condom (even if she says she's on the Pill, hell even if she IS on the Pill) is great advice. Pulling out? Useless. Precum alone has enough sperm to get a girl pregnant. Brush up on your sex ed, monsieur!

  27. britt says – reply to this

    127

its not fucking diablo codys fault that teenagers aren't responsible enough to use a condom and that they are uneducated by their schools.

  28. jimkh says – reply to this

    128

There is nothing wrong with this at all. Big families at a young age are a great thing. It has happened for centuries why should today be any different. At least none of the girls are having an abortion.

  29. eb says – reply to this

    129

use a condom, pulling out is hard in the heat of the moment. I blame this on the parents, for not smacking them upside the head when these idiots needed some balance. Do you think I would let my daughter play that kind of foolishness at that age? NO.

  30. canad says – reply to this

    130

FYI - pulling out will NOT prevent pregnancy! there's sperm in pre-cum people!

i didnt have sex until i was 17 and in a serious relationship. we were so committed to each other that we got married after college and are now going on our 9th year of marriage!!

they should just show kids, that movie will scare the shit out of any kid even thinking of having sex!

If it's such a horrible place to be then why do thousands upon thousands still flock here every fucking year and steal our jobs and send our money back to their shitty third-world countries? Also, did it ever occur to you simple fucks that America is made of IMMIGRANTS? Say what? IMMIGRANTS. Mainly Europeans! Stick THAT in your ass and think about it for a while! I bet you're some neo-fascist piece of shit on top of it! Probably a fucking Frenchman!

  34. Miche says – reply to this

    134

And this is the "me" generation. Agh and I'm at the beginning of it I believe. When does this generation start anyways? I was born in 83…
Anyways…perhaps if the "Abstanence Only" sex ed wasn't followed anymore and teenagers were getting a full fledged course of actual "Sex Ed" this wouldn't happen so much?! That means teach procautions! Use condoms, use birth control, lose it to someone you love not someone who took your "V" because you were drunk or high. And what about the parents of today? BE INVOLVED! Teach your kids this stuff, school shouldn't be the only way they are getting their sex ed! Be involved!!!!! Know where they are, who they are hanging out with, and set some limits!
Damn this is what makes me think back to my childhood and I realize I'm grateful for the strictness my rents put me through. It sucked then, but hey I'm now a 24 year old successful woman with no kids yet! :) I'm enjoying life! Everyone should be doing this!

For all the people who are like "They don't know what they are doing since their brains are not mature enough" well I just asked my 14 year old neice if she would have a baby when she was 17 and she looked at me and said "Do I look like I'm white trash" so there you have even a 14 year old can figure that hmmm having sex before you are married is the absolute stupidest thing that you could do beside maybe sticking a fork into an electrical outlet or using someonw else needle to shoot up. And by the way I have the best tip for not getting pregnant. KEEP YOU LEGS CROSSED GIRLS!

    140

Wow, this is a sad trend! I am in my 20's and I don't have any children because I am not ready at all. I can't even imagine being a mother when I was 15, 16 or 17. I wish more young girls would use their common sense and realize that they are not only ruining their lives but also their babies lives because they can't be a mature mother that the baby needs. I am not saying that all teen mother's are not mature enough but most teen mother's just hand their baby to their own parents and it's sad that the grandparents should be getting ready to enjoy their lives as their kids get older but now they have to raise another baby all over again!!!!! I know that sometimes their are mistakes made that end up getting the girls pregnant but if they want to be sexually active then be RESPONSIBLE!

  41. 141

its sooooo sick of her to have a baby in the public and selling her story to magazines….my daughter is 4 years old and loves zoey 101 and now when we r at the stores i have to make sure my daughter doesnt see her preggo pics….teens are young and think they know everything and copy what their idols do…….LYNN SPEARS AND JAMIE SPEARS ARE FUCKED UP PARENTS WHO JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY OFF THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN SICK FUCKED UP PPL

I remember you loved Juno when it came out. It's not so much Juno, it's more Maury Povich, low self esteem, bad parenting, and peer pressure amongst other things. These girls need therapy. There is something wrong if they're seeking chaos like that.

Don't blame a movie for this epidemic, but as a bastard child of a 16 year old mother. I'd just like to say, I turned out okay. I'm in college and am working my way up in life. (My mother had a lot of support from my grand parents) I even make jokes with my mom about how she was that knocked up bitch in high school. I do think I'll have kids, maybe in my late 20's. Really, I don't recommend raising a kid when you haven't grown up yet.

Let me tellyou as a person who was the baby of a unwed teenage mother (my mom was 15 when she got pregger with me my dad was 18) that they are not only doing themselves a hardship but the child as well. My mom didn't finish high school and always had problems finding good jobs. My dad fell into the 80's reganomics and had his job shipped to abroad. My parent had a hard time money wise all the time. There was no college fund, no saving, no house, no nothing for them to put aside for me and my sibilings (witch came 10yrs after me). Now grown up I am 31, college grad, and have a good job at a UC Berkeley and NO CHILDREN. It was hard to be the first to go to school, not only cuz i had to pay everything myself but when I had questions about school and needed some advice…I had no one to go to. Now i try to alway be there for my sibilings and am proud that they look up to me as a good role model and even more pround that if they have to talk to someone about school or college they have me. Now I have met the man of my dreams and we are planning to get married…I feel very good that I got to live a life before my children so I can teach them from my own experiences.

  68. JUNO! says – reply to this

    168

Think about it…..the teenage brain is not completely developed for long term consequences. Gloucester is a blue color town (see The Perfect Storm movie). Since there are no jobs for teens, this may well be a solution to future unemployment.

It does not surprise me that this is happening. I predict the following: an increase in alcoholism, child-abuse, spousal abuse, and juveniles who are sentenced as adults.

Loved the movie JUNO, but it was actually a scarily true depiction of teenage sexual habits. Remember girls–Juno gives the baby up for adoption to a working, emotionally mature, ready-for-a-baby, financially stable adult. You will be shopping at thrift shops, stealing diapers from K-mart, and old before your time. JUNO went on to live her life. If they had a JUNO 2, I'll bet Juno and Bleaker would be uber-careful with their birth control.

Teenage pregnancy is not ALWAYS a sentence to a miserable life, just MOSTLY.

Rasing a child is not that easy as it looks. I should know I had my kid at 19 and I have raised her for 15+ yrs now andf it is not easy! Hollywood is not a good example for children to look up to. Jamie clearly got pregnant due to the lack of parental if any at all supervision and now some kids thinki t is all a game. And she takes advice from her sister Brit who has no parental control or anything to do with her two kids-she'd rather party and do anything she wants than be with her kids! Morons!! Someone needs to give a good wake up call to these girls and boys too!! It's a sad, sad world we live in and if Jamie Lynn gave these kids the idea of pregers is cool well then she's just as big as a moron as her parents!

aww, they're all 14 and 15 years old…jamie-lynn was on accident, but all these girls who are not even close to adulthood get pregnant at 14 and 15 years old…random strangers? jamie-lynn had her boyfriend for a long time and just wanted to have fun one dayy - probably 1 or 2 of these babies will have mental diseases. :/

CBS Evening News is going to have a piece on these knuckleheads. Why should they be glamorized? That is a problem along with JaimeLynn selling her story and movies like Juno whichshowed a easy thing, w/comedy and have th ebaby adopted and al s good.
What needs to be done? Some things…..
1-Cut welfare so much. Have workfare. That would be the biggest push and learning lesson. Cut those welfare payments every month.
2-Have pregnant students sent to alternative schools, like in the old days, ones just for the pregnant students.
3-Sex ed 9th -12 grade is just biology. No coed sex ed classes ,but biology, Don't even call it se ed. Teachbiology in other words how humans reproduce. The facts. No need to be graphic and show and tell videos of birthing., sex postitions, condoms, etc. NONE OF THAT. Biology from learning about the inner ear ,to human and all types of animal reproduction is needed.

Are you fucking kidding me? That's so sad. These poor children don't know the first thing about being "parents" /"mommies". They're probably still learning to wipe their asses right. Yes I think Juno and Jamie Hore Spears should be blamed for this because they are not a good representation if motherhood and pregnancy. Having children and raising children is a completely different thing! It is not easy.
Dumb girls, they have NO IDEA what they have gotten themselve into. NONE.
It's not a new phonomenon but it shouldn't be conitnued or seen as something that anyone can do because that's not true.
Good luck to those dumbass girls and have beeing pregnant AND giving birth! jajaj then after that you get to wipe poop and pee and never sleep again.
ALL YOU TEEN MOM'S FROM THAT POOR TOWN, GOOD LUCK!
    Ur such idiots. Ur pathetic.

By no means is it Jamie Lynn's fault girls are getting pregnant so young. To be honest I was pregnant at 16 myself. It wasn't movie stars that influenced me, and I was raised in a family to where pre-marital sex wasn't ok. It isn't always the parents fault either. It is a choice made between to young people who have absolutely no idea what the future is going to hold for them. I ended up losing my baby at 11 weeks. This sounds awful, but it was a blessing in disguise. I now work for a physician, and have two beautiful children that I can afford to raise. Who's to say that I would be where I am today if I would have carried the baby full term and raised, for all I know may have not even finished highschool. To all the young readers.. think about how much freedom you have now.. You can go out with your friends, and not have to pay a babysitter, on top of paying for diapers, formula, wipes, medication for the baby. It's hard, and if you're not feeling enough "love".. Visit a counseler don't have a baby. Like the comment was made earlier- It is hard to feel loved when your child is up at three in the morning, and all they can do is cry and depend on you.
*SERIOUSLY THINK- HAVING CHILDREN AT A YOUNG AGE ISN'T GLAMOROUS, AND IT'S NO ONE'S FAULT THAT TEEN PREGNANCY RATE IS SO HIGH, EXCEPT FOR THE TEENS*

I think it's a little strange that those girls did that but personally I'm not surprised. I go to a high school in Worcester, MA and we have plenty or pregnant girls and young mothers every year. It's unfortunate, but not thta shocking, unless you live in a hole.

Please boys, use a condom even if your new girl is on the pill. AIDS, like PARENTHOOD, is a life and death issue. I am involuntarily a father of a 10 year old boy because I was 'out of condoms'. I absolutely loathe the woman who is his mother, but I have to suffer her intrusion into my life in order to have a relationship with Jayden. And yeah, she got to pick the name and she is a moron. I call him Jay.

She may want a new doll, but a 24.95 DNA test now proves who the Dad is. Unless you want to be saddled with child support payments and forever have a connection to this young lady, I suggest getting used to that feeling of fucking with a condom.

As someone who lives near Gloucester, the news reports on this issue make it seem as if Gloucester is this super-poor, poverty-stricken town. Most of the houses are huge and probably cost half a fortune. I recently graduated from a high school near Gloucester, and there haven't been ANY teen pregancies (that I know of) for at least the past 5 years. The girls made a pact, so they decided together to do something dumb. If the girls had come from sperate groups of friends, then there would be more of an issue.
In any case, still, the parents should be blamed for not loving their kid enough to tell them not to get pregnant before they are 16, and that it's not all cute as they may think. (homeless guy???)
Oh, on the 1 year of sex-ed thing- I got 3 years of puberty-sex-ed, and then the one year of comprehensive sex ed. It really did cover everything, and making it all 4 years would have been a waste of time, considering we only had one (or 2 if you were an upperclassmen) class period free to pick your class, and I certainly would not want it wasted on sex ed when I could be taking AP European History. Just sayin.

These girls are pathetic, as well as their parents, and educators. In my high school district there was an outbreak of pregnant teens, so the school district did the smart thing and revamped the sex ed course, along with all the regular material, we were also required to take care of a animatronic baby for 2 weeks (that cried, pissed, and spit up, amongst other things), and we were required to work in the day care that we had up for the ROP Child development course.. it scared the shit out of us so we wont have kids!!

For all the sex education in schools the last 40 yrs. and free condoms, etc., the teen pregnancy rate is sky high. Not another tax dollar to schools for sex ed., I'm sick of it.

pregnancy is the LEAST of these girls worries. yes, having a baby at a young age is hard. no, it's not really the right way to go about life… but having a baby doesn't kill you (at least most of the time) but contracting HIV or any other std will follow you the rest of your life! wrap it up girls and boys!

    194

These girls are NO BETTER than women who are obsessed with getting pregnant that are in their late 20s and older. Believe me, you can find them everywhere and they are the ones who spend top dollar for the pregnancy tests with a smiley face or any of that crap. People can be so damn judgmental! These girls need to be mentored by an adult if their parents aren't giving them enough positive attention or being positive role models AND they need to be taught about birth control.
