Blame Jamie Lynn! And Juno!

Filed under: Baby Blabber > Wacky, Tacky & True

jamielynnspears2.jpg

17 teen girls from Gloucester, Massachusetts' high school are pregnant, according to Time magazine.

For reals.

AND, none of the sperminted teens are older than 16!!!!!!!

That's not the kicker.

Concerned school officials trying to figure out why sooooo many girls became preggers discovered that nearly half the expecting students confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together.

WTF????

WHY?????????

Dumb! DUmb! Dumb!

Time goes on to say that the girls who made the pregnancy pact reacted to the news that they were expecting with high fives and plans for baby showers.

Wait.

There's more craziness.

The principal of the high school reports, "We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy."

Why would the teens go out of their way to get pregnant?

The preggers 17 declined to be interviewed, but a recent graduate of Gloucester High, who gave birth to a babe her freshman year tells the mag, "They're so excited to finally have someone to love them unconditionally. I try to explain it's hard to feel loved when an infant is screaming to be fed at 3 a.m."

And, it's asserted that the high school has done perhaps too good a job of embracing young mothers.

Sex-ed classes end freshman year at Gloucester, where teen parents are encouraged to take their children to a free on-site day-care center.

The Gloucester school committee reportedly plans to vote later this summer on whether to provide contraceptives. The town is called very Catholic, so who knows how that vote will go down.

But some say that won't do much to solve the issue of teens wanting to get pregnant.

A classmate of the girls in the pregnancy pact said, "No one's offered them a better option."

So sad that the teens there feel so hopeless.

What do you think needs to be done?

Someone needs to do an anti-Juno flick…fast!

Teen pregnancy is not a good 'trend'.

It's not to be taken lightly!

P.S. Note to all the boys: She may tell you she's on the pill, but use a condom AND pull out as well!

Ok, we all know pulling out can still cause a pregnancy, so wear a condom. Whatever happened to that story that the real father of Jamie Lynn's baby was an older guy producer involved in hert tv show? Last I heard that story was being covered up so he wouldn't go to jail, and the baby daddy was being blamed on her teen BF. Anyone know the latest?

Pulling out is NEVER an effective form of birth control. Way to spread the misinformation, perez

take it from someone who lives in the next town over…actually, ask anyone who lives on Cape Ann, Gloucester girls are known for being trashy. Not all of them….but they've had that reputation for a while…and now it's nationally recognized. Way to go guys.

how is getting a huge belly, gaining a bunch of weight, getting stretch marks, having your vagina stretched open, or having a doctor slice through your stomach muscles to pull out your baby "cool" to these high school girls? it's funny, wasn't there a story a few months ago about how jamie lynn watched some birthing video and was disgusted? YEAH bitches, having a baby is not fun it's WORK. i work in a social agency for teenage and young single mothers- i've seen far too many girls come in a couple years down the road and they are complete messes - heroin addicts, alcoholics, can't support their children…they realize having a baby isn't as easy or as cute as they thought when they were younger, and end up getting depressed and turn to drugs or alcohol to solve their problems…TRUST, having a kid when you're not ready to will cause wayyy more problems than you could imagine when you are still a young girl

it's a generation of babies being raised by their grandparents…seriously, it seems like there are WAY too many teenagers and young single girls getting pregnant. i'm 23 now, and when i was in high school, there were less than 10 girls who had babies all through the time i was there. however in the past 5 years since i graduated, i think i have heard of at least 50+ girls i went to school with (who are all under 23), who have had babies since we grad in 2003. it's crazy! and none of them are married, and are raising the babies themselves! it seems like all of a sudden there's a big boom in young girls getting knocked up, NOT just a high school problem! it's fucked up these days…i personally think a lot of girls are trying to have babies b/c they think it will make their boyfriends stick around…but it usually is the opposite way around!

    Holy fuck!

Y'all, I had my daughter at 16 (and she was unplanned) and it is HARD work being a mom at any age, but more so as a teen. Anyone who specifically plans to have a kid that young is an idiot, unless they can provide for their kids. And kids are very expensive.

I feel for those babies. Lets hope their moms grow up fast and stop being such fucking idiots. Anyone with such horrible judgment probably isn't going to be the best mom.

  14. maxi says – reply to this

    314

They should get the daycare center out of the school and put it someplace else. You shouldn't have the teens showing off their little dolls in the hallways. Having a baby should not be glamorized. Also, they need planned parenthood to set up shop downtown to give these girls and boys access to birth contol and std testing.

    322

Who in the heck said that teenagers doom their babies for life by having them so soon? I agree their reasons are not the smartest reason for having a baby HOWEVER maybe it would be worthy thinking about the way these teens were parented. They did it for getting unconditional love, the one they were NOT GETTING FROM THEIR PARENTS, too busy setting down stupid rules of behaviour and performance. These girls are smart in searching for unconditional love, because that's how love should be. If only they are able to teach this invaluable lesson to their babies those babies will be a lot smarter than our generation and we are… and here we are calling them stupid because they didn't wait age 40 to have a kid. I have a friend who had a kid while still in college.. she divorced and nevertheless graduated in criminal justice, and now works as a criminal inspector and next year will go to law school. Age doesn't say shit on how capable a person is to raise a child. Sure telling a teen that if pregnant is better for them to kill their baby rather than giving it up for adoption is NO CIVILIZATION EITHER.

  23. Dani says – reply to this

    323

BLAME JUNO???????? Does anyone even remember how that movie ended??? She doesn't KEEP the baby! She gives it up for adoption! There is no excuse for this shit!!!

Oh Gloucester….I live maybe 30 minutes from there….. beautiful waterfront town. I can't believe these girls. I just feel so bad for their children….these babies are going to have insufficient mothers. maybe not all of them… but statistics are going to tell me that not all 17 of these girls are going to win mom of the year. What happens when they want to go out with their friends or go to college? They're going to kick themselves in each others asses instead of making stupid pacts and throwing baby showers. Ridiculous.

    334

What these girls are obviously too dense to understand is that, number one, Jamie Lynn is definitely not someone they can compare themselves to, if motherhood becomes more than she can handle, she has the money to hire a nanny and live her life like that baby never existed. Number two, having a child just so that you have someone that loves YOU unconditionally is the most selfish thing I have heard, babies deserve YOUR unconditional love, kids should NOT be having kids, they don't understand what it requires to be a good parent and don't really have the maturity to understand that when you have a child your needs and wants come second every day all day, or atleast they should. I can't wait for the show that is coming up, where the teens are given children to take care of, just to see what parenthood is like. It is never easy, as it shouldn't be, you are molding a human being, hopefully a good one. How can a 16 year old know what is good for a child? I hope these KIDS parents make them give their children up for adoption to an ADULT who can give the baby everything it deserves!!!!!!! I am so disgusted by this, what is wrong with our young girls, if this is what they are thinking is the thing to do.

  35. i8acl says – reply to this

    335

Dont be stupid Perez. Anyone with half a brain who saw Juno knows that the movie doesnt encourage pregnancy, its about the courage and maturity a girl shows when she finds herself in a tough situation. Showing that girls dont need men to come in and save them when things go wrong. Something which Hollywood consistently says female dont know how to do, opting instead to make the baby daddys mature onscreen and rescue the poor girl from her fate.
But how can a woman ever expect a something with a dick to understand that?

    open letter to perez:
    dear perez,
of all the insensitive things you say, this crosses the line. yes, the girls may be stupid to have made the pact to all get pregnant together and raise the babies together, but calling them out on that doesn't change a thing. what you are doing is not constructive, whereas what the school is doing is very much so. would you rather these girls not be able to afford childcare for their children and have to drop out of high school? what good would that do them? would it make their lives or their children's any easier? i highly doubt it. their school (like mine, and many others), understands that the best way to deal with this type of behavior is to give the girls as much support as possible so that they can get their diplomas and give their babies, along with themselves, the lives that they deserve. try talking to them and the schools before you start judging them. and then try being fifteen and raising a child without any help. i'm really glad we had this chat!
    love,
    lucy

Luckily for these girls, if they want to continue their education, they can go to nearby Endicott College (www.endicott.edu) with their babies and live and go to school for FREE! Its called the Keys to Degrees program, which allows young girls who get knocked up to college and get free housing.

first of all I had my daughter at 21 with my ex husband but now I am doing it all alone but I would have never planned on doing it this way and for sure not in my teen years! I love my daughter but it is not easy when she is sick there is no one else besides me to get her and miss work and when I miss work I don't get paid! These girls are stupid and the boys hello have you ever heard of child support start thinking or your'll be like my ex I get 50 % of his pay check every sinlge week cause he wasn't doing his part and if he quits his job or falls behind agian in child support he goes to jail for a month so maybe think about shit like that instead of having a cute little baby cause it changes when your waking up every hour every night and say goodbye to all your fun weekends with your friends cause you'll be sitting home just you and your kid say goodbye to your fun teen years. You haven't even lived life till you turn 21 when you can go to all places and experience everything but now you will be raising a child! Have fun with that you stupid kids.

All of those idiots are going to regret doing that later… I don't feel sorry for them or their parents whom should have had more control of their daughters. However, I feel REALLY sorry for those babies….. I hope they will be given up for adoption for people who would be able to give them better lives… Can you imagine the conversation when the babies are older? " Oh, I got pregnant with you because my 15 friends and I made a pact."

I hate my generation sometimes, it is like we lost what it truly means to be ambitious and hardworking; to be the best we can possibly be and be someone our kids can look up to. I'm 20 years old but most of my female peers are already mothers, some even younger than me and some with even more than one child! Yea, it may seem fun now but eventually when you're like 30 years, old you're gonna feel like you wasted your youth somehow; trust me I have seen this. For example, my ex's mom was a teenage mom and she ended up having 5 kids and now guess what she does every weekend? Parties like a teenager with her oldest daughter! Ironically, I feel outta place because I don't have many female friends who are in college. I'm not saying it's wrong to be a mother but why rush into it? Wrap it up at least! Sheesh peoples………

This is a result of the breakdown of the family unit and women not staying home to raise their kids. If you have a strong family unit where one person takes care of the home and the kids and another makes the money then guess who gets the cutback….. the one who stays home. Therefore these kids are left ALONE don't get love, attention, encouragement, empathy, and they spawn lonely misguided lost souls.

I mean if you don't have one who makes the money and one who raises the kids and takes care of the home then you are down to one person and the person that is there needs to make money which takes priority to the home and the children. Also when a family breaks up there is a TON of animosity and hostility planted in the children. Step parents can fuck it up and create even more resentment.

Sex is literally EVERYWHERE in media. Clearly teens are not mature enough to get the reality of having sex…especially safe sex.
All they see is shows, movies, and yes Perez…websites like yours where 'sex sells'. TV shows now don't bother sensoring any nudity. Sex scenes are in every show. Sex is talked about like its the same as brushing ones teeth! Look at the skankovision 'reality' shows….its all girls stripping and everyone having sex!
What the hell does America expect!

What I learned from this article is that these girls are looking for love. Now I'm not usually the one who turns and blames the parents, but they're obviously lacking love from somewhere. I know it's difficult in a blue collar family where it's not uncommon for one or both parents (if they're still married) to work long hours to form those loving relationships, but something has to be done so these girls don't have to look to a baby to provide them the love they're lacking.

i think my school has more pregnant teens, and on the last day of school all of the mothers brought their kids, we even have a pregnancy support group

I think it's devistating that there are so many prego teens. But I also think it's UNFAIR and INACCURATE to blame it all on a movie like Juno or a celeb like Jamie Lynn. I'm not defending the girls decisons or actions, but I am defending the fact that they are most likely not getting pregnant because it's a 'trend' or a 'fad' and they are certainly not doing it because the media is telling them to. IT'S TIME TO STOP BLAMING EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

Annnd by the way.. I hope that "looking for love" thing is a joke. you think their children, who are already going to be screwed up in the head by being raised by a child, is going to be proud and happy and loving "my 14yr old mother decided to get knocked up by a homeless man, I have 16 half siblings!" wtf seriously…

This is no suprise. It seems that everyday more and more teenagers are becoming parents. It's a series problem. It's sad to think that 15 year old are raising the people who are supposed to change the future, scary.

    create an anti-Juno?

hmm… hopefully perez means a movie about preventative birth control and honest, sex education.

not a movie that teaches young girls that the quick fix to pregnancy is abortion.

we should practice prevention. not abortion.

He means pull out while wearing a condom, you idiots are calling him names while saying things such as "This pull out method you speak of isn't effective… asshole." maybe you should learn to read. I quote "She may tell you she's on the pill, but use a condom AND pull out AS WELL!" Can everyone read that? He says AS WELL.

NOT Juno's fault. I know you aren't serious but just had to put that out there. My friends and I quote it on the daily and LOVE that movie but it never said hey guys go get pregnant. She even says herself "I'm ill equipped." and, she doesnt keep the baby like these girls plan on doing.

Re: Steve – Nothing wrong with having sex as a teenager? Are you kidding me? Even if you have sex protected you still may contract STDs and many other sexually transmitted diseases. Sleeping with someone is like sleeping with all of their previous partners as well. Sex is meant for marriage, for the one person in the world you truly love. How would you feel knowing your own 14 year old daughter was having sex? I would believe you would feel quite protective over her and angry.

Perez, they just plugged your site on WBZ (news channel here in Boston) This shit is ALL OVER the news its insane. I just dont get it, some responsible married and stable couples, ready and wanting a family so badly but cant become pregnant because of some complications. These 6 girls who choose to impregnant themselves by a HOBO none the less. I hope someone cares enough to sit down with these girls and tell them that they are in for a rude awakening. But, im sure they dont give a shit they probably think its cute wait till they cant go to prom or some function next year because they have a stomach the size of two watermelons

It's not this generation - Perez I'm as old as you and kids were doing this in my home town when I was in school. In my country you get a free house from the government and all the bills paid while you don't have to go to school anymore or get a job. Then when the kid is 15 you get a grandkid for your 30th birthday gift.
If you want to blame someone blame the parents who raised these ingrates to think this was the most they had to look forward to in life.
