Al Gore Responds

We told y'all earlier that former vice president Al Gore seemed a little two faced when it was revealed by the Tennessee Center for Policy Research that the former Vice President's home energy use has risen by more than 10% over the past year.
Mr. Gore's spokesperson reached out to us to set the record straight.
Here's what she said:
I had the chance to read your blog today and wanted to take a chance to
clear the record:1. The Gores undertook a three plus year renovation that concluded in
November 2007 with the issuance, in November 2007 of Gold LEED (Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design) from the US Green Building Council.2. As part of this renovation, the Gores have:
-Installed a geothermal system for heating, cooling and hot water
-Installed 33 solar panels
-Completely retrofitted their appliances, windows, ductwork, insulation, and
lighting.3. Since the renovations were complete, the Gores have saved 40 percent on
their site energy use (which is a combination of electricity and natural gas
bills–the two major sources of global warming gases).4. The Gores also purchase their electricity, through their utility, from
the Green PowerSwitch program–which means that their electricity come from
solar, wind and methane gas.So, in summary, the Gores have: made their home more energy efficient, the
produce electricity from renewable power (solar, geothermal) and they
purchase renewable power. No one is perfect, but they are doing their part.Finally, the Gores are also donating a substantial amount of their personal
time to educate the public about the climate crisis as well as donating the
proceeds of their work to charity. They have donated the proceeds of the
Nobel Peace Prize, "An Inconvenient Truth" (the book and film), and Mrs.
Gore's photography to the Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate
Project.

You really believe that the US is MOST productive??? Get your data!!! In comparison with your "productivity" your pollution is way above Europe per capita. And quit comparing a first world country to a developing country. They only just started their industrialization, the Western world already polluted it for 150 years!
And by the way:
Ever heard of the difference between "CO2 Puritans" and "CO2 Pragmatists"?
The former ones believe everybody should cut as many CO2 emissions as possible.
The later ones (and this obviously includes Al Gore) believe that you should substitute as much energy from oil and coal… with renewable energy AND purchase carbon offsets to counter "unavoidable" CO2 emissions. Those offsets aren't only used to plant trees, but mainly to subsidize the development of new "green" technology.
So now quit whining and ranting about hypocrisy. Get informed! That topic is way more complex than some smears over a photo and a bunch of biased sentences which don't even claim to be proper journalism!
And no matter if you believe in Global Warming or not: doesn't it make sense to you that recycling, switching off lights, using smaller cars,… don't take much effort, save money AND save is god for the environment???
BTW: I want to see you guys complaining at TSA when you will have to wait 3 hrs longer at airport security while Al Gore tries to board an airliner! Or the outcry if his flight would come to harm and everybody blames him that - having been the target - his presence endangered the normal passengers.
Looking at that picture again, I think it's funny that there is a Lexus logo on it - hehehehe - always an elitist, still a liar.

M-uni- WHAT does any of this matter ? This man is shedding light on a very serious problem!!! Why do you STILL have to blast this person with your unkind words? The whole point of his actions is that he wants the planet to be a healthier and better place to live…he could be the meanist, nastiest person on this earth, but if he is shedding light on a very REAL issue, where it would benefit everyone, what the hell is your beef? Re: Anna – Look at all those comments here: I don't doubt that somebody out there might be angry enough to pose a security threat to Al Gore and everybody in his vicinity. Thus, Gores presence will raise security levels, which will definitely result in a lot of inconvenience for regular airline passengers.
And the Lexus logo is really not his fault. Ever looked at all the celeb pics here? Most of them pose in front of screen advertising something. That's how you find sponsors!!!!

Regardless of Global Warming, lead and other toxins mankind so happily spreads around cause illnesses including the inability to reproduce. THAT is a fact - no matter if you believe in Global Warming or not. So there are still good reasons to stop pollution!

To keep it simple, he meant to say (which one can clearly read in the whole context) he "invented" the laws on which our internet use in the US is based.

wbs- I don't know what you're talking about. yes, I think the usa is the most productive, has had the most success and has the most energy to burn and therefore does. The point of my post was to say that its interesting how our own leaders chastize us for what we do, when other coutries (my example was China) pollute twice as much as we do, and their leaders do nothing of the sort. I guess my point was, we need to stop condeming our own country or at least looking elsewhere to share the blame.

That is about the dumbest thing I've heard in along time. Have you ever heard of Continental or United or any other major airline that flies 'state 2 state', as you so eloquently put it. If you talk the talk, you better walk the walk, and Al Gore has never done that. He's merely a false prophet; I feel sorry for those of you that follow him and I feel even sorrier for those of us who have to listen to to you.
I'm all for private jets. But I certainly wouldn't be out there telling people to follow a lifestyle I preach, if I'm not willing to do so myself.

FYI: Gore won the popular vote. Bush won the electoral vote. The electoral vote trumps the popular vote. Anyway you look at it, Bush won. This hardly the first time this has happened in history. For example: The 1824 election of John Quincy Adams v. Andrew Jackson The 1876 election of Tilden v. Hayes and the 1888 election of Harrison v. Cleveland. Since the foundation of this country there have been dirty politics and dirty politicians, but Gore lost because he didn't win the Electoral College! Bush won fair and square, whether you like it or not. It's so clear to those of us with fair minds.
But, maybe just for fun, you should look into the mob relations the Kennedy's had in Chicago and how Joe Kennedy literally bought the election for JFK.

Re: mac – I agree with you that the US should stop "condemning themselves" as you put it. Put simply looking for others to (share the) blame isn't a solution. In a perfect world (and unfortunately we don't live in Utopia), everybody would happily agree and stop pollution. In reality, politicians/lobbyist/… of all sides want to get re-elected/power/money/… This does NOT stop pollution. India & China said they would cut emissions only, if the US does, too. Kyoto was never signed by Bush. Nobody wants to spent a dime if the other nations don't. Europeans try, but they are only a small part of the globe. Being a world leader also comes with responsibilities. I think the US as a world leader should also be an idol when it comes to fighting pollution, than the others will follow suit, too.
And BTW: Europe has been just as productive as the US, and still they manged to cut their emissions and pollution way below the US level.

The true way to care about the environment is to turn off your air conditioner and run some fans; not have plasma screen TVs; not live in a huge house when you don't need to. People don't understand that having a different way to power your air conditioner, while BETTER than the wrong ways is still not good.
I had a very environmentally-conscious friend who bought furniture made from recycled materials. What she should have done, is just bought used furniture. That green furniture has still used up resources.
Just stop being wasteful. Americans are just trying to find more ways to fuel their excessive wasteful lives.
Gore needs to diet. He's obviously not looked in a mirror lately. I bet if the world didn't have to feed his fat ass, it would be a greater global impact than his stupid house.
