I live in Texas and am an Operations Manager for a construction company who employes Pipe Layers. Ours easily make 100k a year here and in Louisiana - more if they are willing to travel. Not a bad living for this area.

I live close to Kentwood. It's not as bad as everyone wants to make a comment about. Theres not many trailer parks , oh and for the most part , if you do live in a trailer it happens to be a nice one since they passed the law that your trailer has to be worth more then 27,000 to move it into the town. Second off , Mother Lynne needs to stop using her kids to get her ass some more money. She hasnt done anything for her to kids over the years except milk them dry and take them for everything their worth , and I think Jamie and Casey will make a good couple and everything will work out.
Millions of others have raised families without "millions." I'm sure they could do it too, if they end up with any sense.

Wow Perez, I've been a longtime reader and its the first time I need to vent. For someone that is always supporting good causes, I have to say dissing this guy for being pipelayer is very low. Your are dissing over half the nation (and Dads) that have similar jobs and make similar incomes and raise good families and lead happy lives. Even though they make less money, I'm sure they are in a better place then most of the people you spend time making fun of and making your money off of, (which I admit is genius). Pipelaying or any job such as construction, farming etc. are tough jobs that never get the recognition they deserve. Going to college doesn't necessarily secure your financial future. There is no gaurantee that you'll get a good job–much less one in the field that you got your degree in. Grow up Perez! A lot of people do just fine w/o college–look at Bill Gates. Anyway, think of all the ridiculously high finance charges on loans he WON'T have to pay back. However, there's nothing to say he can't return to college later if he wants. Out of negativity, positive things can arise. While these two are extremely young to be parents, (babies having babies, some would say). On the bright side, they'll be super young parents/grandparents with lots of energy to spare. Also, your risk of cervical cancer lessens when you birth a child. And your odds of procreating again are greater. Some women wait until their in their late 30's, 40's to have a child, thinking they are adding to their career potential - like I did. Now, I'm 38 and cannot conceive. I have adopted a wonderful baby boy, however.

My friends Father was a pipe layer and made about $23 an hour. It was very hard work and there is't anything wrong with a respectable day of hard work. At least he isn't lazy. I think that shows that at least he is trying to make some money and take care of his responsibilities. It shouldn't be anything to make fun of. Some of us weren't blessed with a talentless slutty sister to give our name some fame and then act badly on shitty shows and get paid riduclous amounts of money. Some of us do what we can to get by.

A pipefitter is good job and will be really important as we work on environmental issues–college isn't for everyone and strength and industrial skills are cooler than sitting in front of a computer all day and will keep you in shape. I know since I sit in front of a computer all day.
