Who's Gonna Get The Job???

Filed under: Icky Icky Poo > Media Minute

russert.jpg

MSNBC talking heads Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are reportedly jockeying for Tim Russert's Meet the Press job.

Matthews was allegedly talking about his strategy to win the MTP anchor spot at Russert's DC memorial on Wednesday!

Eww. Tacky. Tacky. Tacky.

Matthews has of course denied the claim.

Olbermann supposedly said he'll quit if he doesn't get the job.

MSNBC has denied these crazy rumors.

A source reports that Russert wanted Chuck Todd, the NBC News political director he hired, to succeed him.

Is this Todd guy any good?

We've never even seen him on TV!

Good luck with your search, NBC!

All of Tim's coworkers had great, personal, heart-warming stories to tell about him. Except that is, for Keith and Chris. Why? Because he couldn't stand them and they knew it. What did ya think? That they'd admit to trying to get this job when he wasn't even cold in his grave yet? Some people will believe anything because some idiot on tv tells 'em so.

Chuck Todd is great, and would be a perfect choice, esp give that you report Russert named him. Tim Russert was like a buddy for me …the first word on politics. Miss him muchly !! Read you daily…!!! Thx Perez

Chuck Todd is the real deal! As a regular msnbc watcher it makes a lot of sense.

You guys hate Fox News for what you say is their obvious bias, but yet you think either of these two would be an appropriate replacement on NBC??? Have you ever heard Olbermann..he is so left wing and proud of it. He has no place on a show like Meet The Press.

I think everyone has beat me to saying this but, nonetheless, I want to reiterate….Chuck Todd is on ALL news networks (esp MSNBC) ALL OF THE TIME!!! I have a joke with my husband that Chuck Todd is following me because every news show we watch has Chucky T. (as we call him) on it! Please Perez….STOP REPORTING ON POLITICS! Or at least Google someone before you say you have never seen them on TV. And please stop re-hashing Fox News lies!!!! I think you should issue an apology post to Matthews and Olbermann, personally.

    217

chuck todd, as anyone who follows politics at all knows, is a constant fixture on MSNBC.
he'd be a fitting replacement for mr. russert.

  18. kirk says – reply to this

more proof that a lie can get 1/2 way around the world before the truth can get its boots on. you are a waste of bandwidth, perez. you are part of the problem, not the solution. GET THE FACTS YOU FUCKING IDIOT!

  19. Matt says – reply to this

    219

Perez, do you ever even watch MSNBC?? If you did, you would know that Chuck Todd is a brilliant political advisor and makes FREQUENT appearences on there… While I agree that Russert can never be replaced, Todd would make a good choice for Meet The Press.

Olbermann is a douche-bag who sucks the sweat off of a baboon's ba11s. He spewed asinine idiocy as a sportscaster. Keith Overbite was then moved to 'news' and continued to demonstrate his ignorance to a narrower audience (was that PMS NBC)? If the suits at Peacock put this schmeggegie at the controls of the venerable Meet the Depressed, the ratings will tank. Watch.

    222

VERY UNTRUE. This news paper is garb….Keith has been slamming this CUNT who wrote this. Today another script…I will call it is comming out about the drugs Keith takes…Keith said UNTRUE HE DOESN'T TAKE NO PERCRIBED DRUGS.
PEREZ IF YOUR GOING TO REPORT GET IT RIGHT. AND IF YOU WANT GREAT INTERTAINMENT WHY DON'T YOU TRY AND LISTEN TO KEITH OR WATCH MSNBC. STOP ACTING LIKE A DUMBASS. LOVE YOU

I really like Chuck Todd. He's intelligent, and so far seems to be unbiased. His statements are often right on the money. He doesn't insert his opinion into his statements like almost all other cable TV personalities (Matthews, Olberman, O'Reilly), which makes someone a TRUE journalist. I used to love Chris Matthews, but his bitter disdain for the Clintons and his biased (positive) reporting on Obama turned me off. I enjoy Olberman, but let's face it - he's not a journalist. He despises republicans, and doesn't try to mask his utter contempt for the current administration.

  24. Chuck says – reply to this

    224

Chuck Todd would be the best replacement from MSNBC. Chris Matthews is a great lover of himself and talking too much, not a good fit for MTP. Keith has been too biased this primary season to be considered, unless they change the format completely of MTP? I heard rumors that David Gregory might be considered too, but he's boring. Personally, I would like to see John King from CNN and his "magic map" be the moderator of MTP!

  25. Marga says – reply to this

    225

Wow Perez. Maybe you should start watching some actual news more often. If you did (at least on MSNBC or NBC) you'd find that Chuck Todd is as all over the network as Tim Russert was. I've heard nothing but good from Chuck Todd and nothing but good about Chuck Todd. He was brought into the network to be one of their main political consultants.

I personally think that him being the successor is a no brainer. I'm pretty surprised actually that you know who Chris Matthews and even Keith Olbermann are but not Chuck Todd. I think he would do a fantastic job with MTP.

  26. farfl says – reply to this

    226

you've never seen chuck todd on tv? chr*st! that's because you are ignorant. if you had been following the primary race at all, you would know who he is. Chuk Todd is the MAN! i guess that's why you supported Hillary.
    you are a fool.

    227

FYI, Perez, this story has already been outted as a Rupert Murdoch hit piece against KO and the rest, so don[t buy it. Thanks for covering this American Patriot, Tim Russert, though. We love and miss him dearly. He was awesome. I like the idea of Chuck Todd taking over MTP though He has a similar style and look to Tim Russert. I hope he gets the job.

    Good Day,

I think they should retire the show and start a new one with a new name. This truely would show that NBC cared for Mr. Russert.

    RE: Becky

You have obviously never watched "Meet The Press" Becky! It's not really a teleprompter kind of show. The show is a discussion/interview show, NOT a reporting show like the local news. Please don't try to downplay Russert's place in history unless you know what you are talking about. He was a great political mind and it will be very hard to replace him.

    235

Keith Olbermann is a horrible "journalist"…he's completely biased and doesn't hold a candle to Russert or Chris Matthews. Chuck Todd has been on the Today Show nearly every morning to discuss the '08 election. Where have you been???

  36. Todd says – reply to this

    236

    Dear Perez,

You post political opinions and other political articles on your site. You pretend to be politically aware…yet you don't know who Chuck Todd is? This really proves that you NEED to stop pretending to be a political journalist, and just write what you know…which is kind of nothing.

    THanks!
    Todd.
