Re: SUV – For one, it's SVU. And sure, Ice T should be congratulating him but Soulja Boy shouldn't have that big of a head to tell him to do so. Sure, he made tons of money off of just a few songs, but for what? He didn't have to diss Ice T right back, he could have been mature about it and told him that with less profanity. Well, as a hip hop fan, even from back in the days…I have to say that I don't agree with Perez on this one. I am on Team Soujla. One, because Soulja makes a few good points in his rebuttal….Ice T didnt have to say something so negative to someone who is trying to bring something more positive in his life. Music is universal. He obviously got rich off of a few songs. So people must be buying them. There is plenty of other hip hop songs that are out there that could be considered to be killers as well, but they always seem to be the best selling. I think Soulja Boy made his own hip hop music fun…he didn't destroy anything. If hip hop has been destroyed for YOU because of soulja boy, then you have destroyed hip hop for yourself…by letting one song change the way you feel about hip hop.
And I agree with Soulja, if people have a problem with how hip hop is being created and idolised these days, then step up and do something about it. DOn't just knock everyone else for doing their thing………

I like Soulja Boy's music even though I can't defend it in terms of its lyrical content- it doesn't make any sense, its probably not supposed to. But for most rap, with a few exceptions there's no deep meaning anyway. And as far as Ice-T, this guy seems to get a little more respect than he deserves. Ice T is old, and he did not make popular music, but he was a TRUE hip-hop artist. Times are changing, and today's youth don't listen to Rakim, Eric B, public enemy, cool g rap etc. anymore (except maybe me…)… but there are still valid hip-hop artists out there that are changing with the times but still keeping the genre alive. Kanye west, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Jay-z (most of the time), Nas, Common are Today's hip-hop artists.
What soulja boy is, doesn't classify as real hip-hop in my eyes. He takes elements of hip hop, and has made the most ridiculous crap out of it.
