Just about every movie that Justin Timberlake has starred in has bombed.
This is no exception!
In a battle at the box office on Friday night, the Mike Meyers/Justin flick was ass slapped - hard by Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway.
J.T.'s Love Guru is expected to take in a disastrous $14 million in America this weekend, whereas Anne and Steve's Get Smarth is projected to make $40 million.
That's a major whooping!

I think the Love Guru is going to bomb because it isn't funny - the trailer didn't even make me laugh once. Get Smart though, actually looks funny.

mike meyers is overrated anyway & jessica alba can't act, let alone do comedy so in this case i don't think the ratings have much to do with JT, who looks like ass by the way. have you lot seen the posters where he's doing that bruce lee pose? bruce lee is probably turning in his grave
Which is sad, because Southland Tales was an AMAZING movie with him in it. Also, I don't necessarily think that it all has to do with Justin. I went and saw both last night, and although I loved both movies THOROUGHLY, I do agree that Get Smart was the… er… smarter movie

I just dont find Mike Meyer's 'schtic' or however you spell that, funny. He plays the same type of character over and over and over and it is only funny for so long. This movie seems like Austin Powers only 10 years later.

i think its just that they made the movie look really dumb in the previews. I don't think it attracted very much people like myself but i have heard from others that its pretty funny but could have been better.

This movie is fucking hilarious! JT plays such a miniscule part in it really, its dumb that they have him so featured in the poster and ads. Even with Jessica Alba its a movie worth seeing it, its seriously funny!

this is stupid. Black Snake Moan got great reviews, but it's ads made it appear to be something it wasnt and would not have made a great deal of money. Alpha dog was great. This is a Mike Myers movie through and through and he's the one to blame. All the movies justin has done has only been bit parts. The failures have nothing to do with him. Saw the movie last night. Timberlake was the only funny thing about the movie. Blaming him is ludicrous. Myers is to blame for the failure.

this is more of a steve vs mike thing than anything else… mike myers was funny as hell in the (first two) austin powers movies, but people wanna see him do somet different… steve always delivers no matter what he's in. nothing to do w/ jt, tho i agree that he sux balls. =))

Sorry, but in Alpha Dog, he didn't have a bit part, he was one of the main stars of the movie.
People are tired of Mike Meyers. He tries too hard and it shows. He's manic in all the wrong ways. Not to mention that he basically plays the same character over and over. He was funny ten years ago but it's time to move on.

That's not really fair to Justin. This is the first movie he's made that was supposed to open big. And he's not even the main star or attraction of Love Guru, Mike Meyers and Jessica Alba are. All her movies BOMB and critics give them the WORST reviews. Love Guru can't even find a funny sound bite to play in the commercials and when I saw an extended trailer, it was worse. I think that's why the poor ticket sales.

Timberlake was funny funny in the movie. Not his fault. Mike Myers fault. Alpha Dogg actually brought in more money then it cost to make it so not a total failure. Emile Hirsh was the star of that movie. Timberlake hasn't had a starring role yet so blaming him is stupid. Even his next movie, The Long Road Home, is a co-starring role. He hasn't been the lead in a movie yet. At least Myers has the guts to try something different even if it didn't work. Everyone just keeps redoing tv shows or redoing old movies. Keep trying Mike.

The movie looks ridiculous to me. I'd see "Don't Mess With the Zohan" before I'd check this out. I think it was a bad decision to put two movies with the same demographic up against each other on the same weekend. Mike Myers has lot a bit of his live action touch while away in Shrek Land.
