In a battle at the box office on Friday night, the Mike Meyers/Justin flick was ass slapped - hard by Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway.
J.T.'s Love Guru is expected to take in a disastrous $14 million in America this weekend, whereas Anne and Steve's Get Smarth is projected to make $40 million.
That's a major whooping!

yeah, but it was funny as hell. Just went to see it today and didn't stop laughing through the whole thing. Love Justin Timberlake as Jacques Grande. Way too funny!
IT's just that's it is not one of those movie you go see in theaters… I rather pay 5$ to watch it at home than 10$. I mean, it is not the kind of film I mind waiting for….

I think it's unfair to call him box-office poison. His other movies were small independent films & he had small parts in those. 'The Love Guru' is failing cuz it's not funny & the blame is on Mike Myers. The real test for Timberlake is a movie where he has a lead role.

It's still the Austin Powers character, no matter what costume you put him in or name you give it. Mike "one-note" Meyers needs to get a new idea, instead of recycling the same old jokes and same old cast. At least Get Smart admits its a remake!

I have to agree that any movie that Justin Timberlake is in will go down the toilet and not be a box office smash. He is not an actor nor is he a talented singer, but the boy can write music. That's all he needs to do, sit in a studio and write music for other people that CAN sing. He's now filming some baseball movie that will most likely tank when it hits theaters. Of course, if it's anything like the first movie he did, "Edison," then it won't even make it to theaters. HOLLYWOOD NEEDS TO WAKE UP AND STOP HIRING JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TO BE IN THEIR MOVIES!!!!! Get Smart doesn't even look funny. i don't like 'The Rock' acting, and i'm not a huge fan of Anne Hatheway although she is a good actress. But i do like Steve Carell, but that just won't cut it for me.

I'm pretty sure that it's the overall movie and not one particular actor that is not good. It's really not fair to single out JT and blame him. Actually, no matter how bad the movie is, Justin always seems to get good reviews for his small part. He got great reviews for Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, and even Southland Tales. And I've read some good reviews of his small but fummy performance here. He picks small roles in movies that seem interesting instead of playing the lead in some romantic comedy. You have to give him credit for that. I don't think that you can blame Love Guru's performance at the box office on him. It's just not a good movie.

I just saw Get Smart last night and it pretty much sucked too…way overrated. I just think people don't have much choice anymore when it comes to seeing a good movie and they have to settle on something. I love Steve Carrell, but Get Smart just wasn't that funny to me.

Has anyone watched the movie Alpha Dog - who carried that movie ? That movie, based on a true story, really showed the amount of talent that JT has. Cut him some slack. I'm a 50 year old geezer who has seen his share of talent come and go. Has anyone seen that Pepsi commercial where JT gets "sucked" through a straw by the sun tanning teens, then hit in the head by the TV set at the end. He is really versatile and he didn't go running to mommy when his relationships fizzled and continued to press on with business as usual….whatta guy !!!!
