Just about every movie that Justin Timberlake has starred in has bombed.
This is no exception!
In a battle at the box office on Friday night, the Mike Meyers/Justin flick was ass slapped - hard by Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway.
J.T.'s Love Guru is expected to take in a disastrous $14 million in America this weekend, whereas Anne and Steve's Get Smarth is projected to make $40 million.
That's a major whooping!

um…none of JT's movies have been big studio ones and they've done pretty good and (btw, all of his reviews-except for Edison-has been pretty good). The one movie he was in that was big, Shrek 3, opened very well…so, unfortunately Perez, I think you're suffering from hateration-you should get that checked out.

I think in this case it was the atrocious reviews that killed the movie. That or Jessica Alba

justin timberlake had the only truly funny character in this movie. well acted, good timing. mike meyers… i used to be a huge fan… snl, wayne's world, so i married an axe murderer, even austin powers 1… but now… he's not getting it anymore… uses the same dick and poop jokes over and over in every movie.
serious perez…..you need to get some taste….not everything JT has been in has bombed….Try "Black Snake Moan" just b/c the mainstream bullshit he's been in hasn't been the best doesn't mean it's JT's fault…..I think someone is a bit jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really don't understand why these hollywood folk want justin timberlake in their movies… seriously! i saw him in black snake moan and was like wtf! then again in that gnarls barkley video and thought to myself okay this is getting outta hand… now he's in a movie with fuckin' mike meyers? son of a bitch… the execs at these hollywood studios must've been part of the mickey mouse club too.
i personally went and saw the movie just to see justin.

Okay, I saw both movies this weekend. This was NOT JT's fault. He actually was the ONLY good bit of The Love Guru. Get Smart was GREAT, I havent laughed so hard at a movie in a LONG time. The Love Guru was a bad series of poop and fart jokes.

Agreed! Justin Timberfake, just like his "good friend" Madonna, are the two worst "actors" alive. They need to stay away from movies and stick to what they know best…making mediocre music. He thinks he's this funny, slapstick comedian and he's really just a stupid douchebag.

I dunno - from the reviews I've been reading, Justin's performance seems to be the one decent thing about this piece of trash. I think the blame for this one needs to go to Mr. Myers.
Why Jessica Alba is worshipped is beyond me. She may be pretty, but every movie she has been in has sucked. Same with JT's girl Jessica Biel. I cannot stand her or Jessica Alba. JT is actually talented and made a mistake starring in this piece of crap.

The movie sucks. That's why it's bombing. It's the same old shit that MM has done before and yes Carrel is hot now. Not to mention that according to people close on the set (extra's) MM was an asshole. He kind of deserves to be knocked down a peg or two.

i didn't see it because JESSICA ALBA is in it and SHE SUCKS! I didn't even remember that J.T. was in it. Maybe it was both their faults! I don't know why they keep getting cast. I love J.T. and a lot of other hot actors out there but I would never see their stuff just cuz they are in it! The movie has to appeal to me. Don't these film people know to cast talent before good looks, and fame? I mean, look at all the movies Jessica Simpson has been in. They've sucked, done poorly in theatres, and co-starred non-actors such as Johnny Knoxville, and Dane Cook. When I see a movie starring a bunch of reality stars and people who are famous for just being famous, I avoid it like a plague!! This movie could have also bombed because people didn't find it too good or especially because it's not a good idea to spend $11.00 on just any movie nawadays especially if it seems bad.
As soon as I heard that Jessica was going to be in it, I decided I wasn't going to see it. i can't stand the girl. She can't act. She is beautiful She should have tried modeling or Playboy. Anything where she'll keep her mouth shut! I can't believe she is still getting jobs. When is she going to fade into obscurity? Hopefully she decides to become a housewife and not work. I think she may be a big reason why it bombed. Why the hell would Mike Myers want her in the movie. I don't know if she was his love interest but that would've been wrong, why can't they cast older actresses to play old dudes' lovers?! It's so gross!!

It's very telling that while she only has a supporting role in the movie, they are making her the girl they use to promote the movie when they show pictures, not the lead actress. Look at how they have her flash her entire body and as much skin as they can–legs and cleavage. She's not the lead actress but she is getting top billing, even above Myers.
I guess they learned from Sin City to use her to promote the movie as a model but to keep her out of the movie as much as possible so that people don't see her acting. She gets all the credit for Sin City when in fact she was simply on the cover and only had a small, minor part.
I don't know why she keeps getting roles when all her movies bomb, which isn't an accident.
Just about every comment I've read her about the different Don't Call Me Latina stories all hate her and agree that all her movies bomb. Anyone in Hollywood who has 3 or 4 movies bomb as a lead actress is never heard from again. So there has to be something else going on behind the scenes.
Here is my theory about Jessica Alba's popularity with Hollywood executives:
In this day of political correctness, each race has to be represented or else they get protests than kill the movie and the studio. The unique thing about Alba is that by casting her, the check off the boxes for racial diversity quotas for the three main race special interest groups with one person: She is 1. part black. 2. part Hispanic. 3. part White. They think you are stupid enough that simply because you are black you will go see a movie that stars a black person (Driving Miss Daisy?) or that if you are Hispanic, you'll go see a Latina.
She also appeals to them for the same reason that Barack Obama does.
She is a white person with brown skin.
