Why has this become about race?? Who cares really??? We are all people, everyone can change their damn hair color and most do. Stop being racist and prejudice and act like you have some sort of intelligence. There is a better way to critique a person than by judging their ethnicity in such cruel, racist ways. Those of you leaving such hateful comments are above that crude behavior and are hopefully better than that. Go educate yourself and have more of an open mind to other cultures and races.

In defense to white woman:
They go to tanning booths to get a tan, white women have been going to the beaches for years and years and years to get a nice tan. There is quite a big difference between wanting to get a tan and wanting the tan to be dark as black…no white girl wants that deep of a tan, plus it's the facial features difference, trust me, there ain't a white girl out there who wants a tan deep enough, like black skin….but white women have been going to beaches for probably centuries, this is nothing new, what's wrong with wanting a little color, but nowhere nears black!

Look, even among white women, there are plenty of girls who feel they are TOO white, with freckles and they burn out in the sun, they hate it. They wish they could have a little color from the sun…people, use your heads here, we're talking moderation…and maybe thats what black women hate, that white girls can control the amt of color they want (beach, tanning booth), they can turn it on and off, whereas, black is black, always and forever…which isn't a bad thing, black girls, there are many stunning black women out there.
I get the impression that both tyra and oprah are very proud of themselves and their accomplishments, as well they should be, undeserved or not.

Yes, Tyra did have a nose job, just like so many beautiful African American women sadly do in order to mutilate their natural features. Lil' Kim, Tyra, Janet, Kimora, and the list goes on…all have had nose jobs when they did not need them at all. Their original noses and features were more authentic and pretty. A nose job should be reserved for when someone has a truly deformed or grossly imbalanced face. Otherwise just celebrate what God gave you and who you are.

You're correct that not all black people look the same and have dark skin or curly hair. But the whole point is that when people come on here to post hatred about so-called "white" features, they are being hypocritical because what so many deem "black" beauty is actually a mix of black, white, and other ethnic features.
As for Tyra, I don't think people are criticizing her just for her hair. It's a combination of actions taken not only by her but so many black women by way of making their noses small and pointy, (seriously, what's wrong with broad noses??), wearing straight and/or blond hair, getting lipo and breast implants, etc. This phenmenon is so widespread that I think it's fair to question it. When we see more famous black women going au naturale, and especially when we see more dark skin sisters at the top of the Hollywood game, then we'll know we've made real progress.
To me the whole thing boils down to accepting who you are, as God or nature made you. Sure, most women play with fashion to some extent, but on the whole you have to admit there are many insecurities and lots of self hatred going on out there from all parties, be they white, black ,etc.
Hopefully people can learn to love what they have, celebrate their unique ethnic dispositions, and just shut the fuck up about one "race" being prettier than the other.

Also look up Aboriginis who are black people that are born with blonde hair (that occurs naturally). Did you know that black people can also be born with blue eyes without having a caucazoid gene (scientific for "white") I've had the fortune of traveling to many different countries as a child which exposed me to more than white, black, and hispanics. Finally my mother was born with redish/blonde hair and brown skin. Yet again, we're all the same…whether it's accepted or not and I celebrate that. I am a black Cuban with darker skin tone than Tyra. I once colored my hair blond but I only kept it that way for a week because I realized that I didn't look my best with yellow hair. So now I just keep it dark and chemically straighten but I don't do it to look white. It's ridiculous to say such foolish things because obviously you can look at me and tell I am not white. I think it is progress when people feel comfortable borrowing traits and looks from others. My good friend is a white blond and she admires my lips, skin and other assets and I admire hers and there is nothing wrong with that.
