Amy Winehouse May Die!

The Wino is still in the hospital and she has just been diagnosed with emphysema.
Pretty serious stuff!
Amy's dad, Mitch Winehouse, spoke to journalists about the severity of her diagnosis.
He says, "The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her. The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid — she wouldn't have been able to breathe. She's got emphysema. It's in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe. With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes, her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She's got 70 percent lung capacity. If she doesn't go back to drugs, then she can lead this magnificent life. We are praying that that's what Amy really wants. She seems resolute."

While I agree it is indeed tradgic that Ms. Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema,It is highly likely that the damage to her lungs was caused by the lifestyle she has lead. It is my prayer that this is her bottom. Addiction is an all consuming task master that has robbed far to many loved ones from their families while alive and through death. It is my hope that she finds her higher power or whatever it is that inspires/motivates her towards a healthly new path. This is the time for compassion and support IMHO.

Anyone got a lighter??? she won't stop - and I really don't care. She is NOT that talented…she is a drug addict who thinks the world owes her…she has done nothing to help herself or anyone else for that matter.
I've got news for Mitch. If she's already in the early stages of emphysema, her voice is already ruined. It's a shame too, a damned shame that such a talented young lady has already fucked up her whole career and life. I guess "say no to crack" is in order? Yea verily!

Sorry Amy sweetie! But once you have emphysema, you only have a couple of years to live, even if you stop smoking. Once your lung capacity begins decreasing, it decreases rapidly, so rapidly in fact that people that gets diagnosed are immediately put on oxygen machines and given aubuterol for bronchial spasm. Even with that your lung capacity decreases 20% every year! Survival is 70% against…at best!
That's why I hate smoking!!! It kills our best and brightest!!!
How is this not surprising-I actually thought she died months ago. It just seems like she is one of those people that doesn't want help and it seems like nobody is extending a hand to help her. At least Britney overcame it for the most part.
Can someone explain to me why Whitney Houston doesn't have this too? She smoked crack far longer than Amy and she seems ok. I don't think we are getting the real story, I have heard rumors about her having full blown AIDS. Emphysema doesn't make sense, you don't hurl blood from that unless you are terminal and she's too young to be terminal unless there is something else going on.
I work with COPD patients and I can tell you that aside from burning to death, emphysema has to be one of the worst ways to go. Lying in a bed fighting and struggling for every burning breath you can get into your collapsing lungs. Yeah keep on smoking, people. Eventually you get to pay the piper for every cigarette you ever held to your lips and it is the worst possible end you could ever imagine. Think about it, seriously think about it, the next time you light up. Hell itself could not be more torturous than dying this way. I look into the eyes of these people every day as they slowly and painfully die in front of me and all I see there is fear and regret.

My grandmother smoked everyday for about seventy years….and I am talking at least two packs a day and she didn't get emphysema until she was about seventy years old. Can someone as young as her get such an awful disease? What the fuck? It is truly a horrible way to die.
