This must sting.
It turns out that legendary fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is not feeling the Sex and the City movie.
Westwood, at 67 years-old, created a dress that was worn by Sarah Jessica Parker's character in the movie, Carrie. She was also name-checked in the film.
But that hasn't stopped Vivi from stating that she was far from impressed with the work done by stylist Patricia Field for the movie.
Westwood says, "I thought Sex and the City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. I went to the premiere and left after 10 minutes."
In fact, she called it "quite dull."
Ouch.
Then again, is Westwood really in any position to still be judging fashion????

Re: Libbi – Easy… just look at what they are wearing at the onset… it forshadows what they are going to wear for the rest of the movie. Unless, of course, the movie had something to do with changing a person's wardrobe/dressing habits. 10 minutes? I am completely agree with miss Vivienne. I am an Italian fashion addicted and a Very big fan of Sex and the city but the "fashion show/catwalk"in the movie completely dissapointed me because was too fake too much and distracted me from the plot.Amanda was very beautiful but completely unreal,Sam too 80s, Carrie change clothes every hour and Charlotte too posh(but maybe the one less fake). Patricia Field is with any doubt a big stylist and i am a no one to judge,but i am deeply agrre with Vivienne . Than the dress that Carrie used in the real wedding at the end look very similar to the one use by the lovely Christina Aguilera for thelast Dior fashion show.What do u think Perez?

VIVA LA VIVIENNE! She was absolutely correct. The clothes in the movie SUCKED big time - actually they never looked that great on the tv show, for that matter. La Westwood knows what she is talking about.
Totally agree with Westwood. Some of the clothes in that movie look like they are straight from the 70ies, others are just plain hideous. Especially poor Cattrall has to wear some terrible terrible outfits. I don´t buy the "we are so super stylish"- wannabe attitude of the film makers. Go out in a Miami club, you will find hip outfits 10 times more beautiful and cooler than those in the movie.

I was at the movie with I got the word that Yves Saint Laurent had passed, I commented on it to a girl next to me. She had no idea who that was, I was like "Honey, if you dont knwo who that is then you shoudl not be at this movie"

I'm glad she came out and told the TRUTH! The film was horrible and there was absolutely nothing cutting edge about it, nothing memorable! Look how fast the film died down! It was a quick opening and an even quicker exit!

Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet, but what's particularly galling about her remarks is that the actual staff of Vogue worked with Pat Fields and SJP for the wedding fashion segment and Westwood's gown WAS NOT the one they recommended for the gown Carrie would actually choose for her wedding (see Anna Wintour's editor's letter in the June issue). It was Sarah Jessica and (I assume) Pat that chose Westwood's gown. Given that she could have kept her opinions to herself.
