How incredibly lame. The fact that the interviewer had the gall to refer to her pregnancy as though it was no different from that of a mature adult's is really quite disconcerting. This is a big issue, and he's practically cheering them on. Showing concern about a growing issue in America's schools systems and "showing one's age" surely can't be the same thing, can they?
Re: whipp – I aggree with Whipp… I graduated from Gloucester High and was educated at a prestigious University. I don't have an accent, I don’t have a baby, I have an amazing, glamorous job and I think this is all craziness.
My parents came from blue collar backgrounds and I can say with certainty that there are hundreds of high-functioning Gloucester High School graduates with an upbringing just like mine who are doing tremendously well for themselves and are not saddled down with ten kids, sitting around collecting welfare checks.
Yes, there is trash in Gloucester, but there's trash everywhere. The issue here is the lack of attention or care by the parents, who were probably babies themselves when these teens were born. Compounding this, they now have the attention of our nation, which only gives more positive feedback for behavior that should not be condoned. How about we all move on and focus on something more important than trash begetting trash. It’s just not newsworthy, it happens every day in a city near you.

To the person who called Gloucester a working "eh" town - The average American could absolutely not afford to live in Gloucester without living in a condo. It's on the ocean. And the anchor didn't show his age when he talked about sex- he showed his morals and beliefs. For some people, premarital sex is bad. As much as it's socially irresponsible in our society to be pregnant so young, I don't see why people insulting them on here makes you look any better or classier. I am from Gloucester, the Gloucester High School actually has two childcare programs. One is a labratory early education preschool program (similar to a trade program), the program is for high school students that are interested in going into the field of Early Education. That program is over 20 years old. The other program is Young Families Initiative which has been around for about 15 years. This program is for teen/young mothers and their children. This program provides some support to the teens and gives some ensurance that these girls will graduate. The program holds them acountable to follow through with family goals and parenting education. The media and even Gloucester residents have been misinformed about the day care programs at Gloucester High School.
Alright so my mom had me when she was 16 and I'm not screwed up or anything , my dad bailed on both of us when i was born. I turned out fine actually,I'm top of my class, and my mom did a FINE job raising me. So let them live their lives without your cruel comments!
