It's getting harder and harder for bands to make a splash with album releases these days.
So….musicians are thinking outside the box!
British pop punk band McFly is going the Prince route and teaming up with the UK's Daily Mail to give away its new music in the paper's Sunday, July 20th edition.
McFly's super dreamy singer/guitarist Tom Fletcher says, “We want to get our music out to the widest audience possible and working with a massive paper like The Mail On Sunday will definitely help us achieve that. We’re very excited about this great opportunity."
This partnership will give the band access to the Sunday Mail's reported 5.8 million readers.

Excited is an understatement, I am soo thrilled about this! I think the guys knows what they're doing and I trust their decisions. Of course it's risky, but still. The music business is changing, and they're taking advantage of that, and I think it's a positive way to find new fans and maybe finally people who've been talking negatively about them will have a listen and actually change their minds.
Less than a month now! Yay! Oh, and yeah Tom is soooo dreamy… ^^,

Correction : MOS shifts about 2.5 million copies ,AND traditionally gives away really naff music or really old crap movies which are mostly left in the newsagent by unhappy public who do not give a shit. The newsagent tries to give to customers who come in for sweets or fahgs usually without much luck..MOS then gets them back and has to try and flog them cheap to defray expenses.The only one that got taken home in bulk was Pavoratti a week after he died. MOS is read mainly by Middle England posh twats who do not do boy bands/ pop , so this is stupid move, and McFly probably only got £30K for it from MOS. YAWN MCFly are so shit.. kiddy pop.

Well im an american living in england at the moment and i must admit that im a mcfly fan and im pretty excited about this. apperenlty this album is and new start for mcfly cause they left their record label and started there own so they had more creative control on this one. well lets hope its good.

Perez, do a bit of research. I love you, seriously, but it's not just Prince or McFly the Daily Mail (which is just short of the Enquirer in my book) gives something away every sunday. Even everyday…all this week are free Michael Caine DVDs. Magazines like Marie Claire and Glamour give away lip gloss bags from Billy Bag, Laura Ashley, etc, and even Candace Bushnell books, and lip gloss. If you want more British readers you can't shoot yourself in the foot like that. Instead say something like "we all know the Mail is a piece of crap but at least this week you can get some decent music"

McFly has in fact become more of a pop/punk band than just a pure pop band. If you know your music you should have realised. Take Friday Night for example, not pure pop, pop/punk. The new album is said to even be indie.

I saw their show when I was in Manchester and it was one of the greatest concerts I've been to. They need to try and take on America, or maybe start with Canada

I love Mcfly. Im not sure if their new material since they broke away from the record label is as good. It may just be because it's not typical Mcfly. .. theyr perhaps getting more creative..this creativeness may just take a bit of adapting to.

And don't try and say that their old stuff had no soul; because frankly, they were singing and selling that stuff because their record label; that they just left by the way; was making them sell stuff like like because in the real world, it sold.
