The rapper just unleashed this rant about his performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, where angry fans started throwing stuff on stage after he went on late - very very late.
Says Kanye:
"I am sick of negative people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why???? I understand if people don't like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much, But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I've ever had in my life. This is the most offended I've ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be. I'm typing so fucking hard I might break my fucking Mac book Air!!!!!!!! Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of…. BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN'T GIVE MY ALL! NEVER SAY I DIDN'T GIVE MY ALL! MY PRODUCTION MANAGER TRIED TO LOAD IN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE I WENT ON STAGE BUT THE FESTIVAL WOULDN'T ALLOW US TO DO ANYTHING UNTILL PEARL JAM LEFT THE STAGE. PEARL JAM ENDED ONE HOUR

REMEMBER LAST SUMMER WHEN I CANCELED SOME TV APPEARANCES. IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO PERFORM STRONGER IN THE DAYTIME. I work at a concert venue where Kanye performed a couple of months ago. His stage took literally all day to set up. I can vouch for that. Seems crazy, though, to agree to perform at the end of a festival knowing what you're up against with your stage set-up.

I saw his show in Houston and it was awesome. What he said makes more sense to me then anything else I've heard. It took more than 45 minutes to setup his stage in Houston, and setting it up in the dark would be twice as hard. Plus you DO definitely need to see the show at night. The effects were awesome. Kanye is the hardest working man in showbiz. I may not agree with everything he says or does - but I believe what he wrote above to be the real truth.

I love your site dude. And while I dont know the specifics of Bonnaroo, I gotta back Kanye on this one. I seen his Glow In The Dark show out here in Glendale/Phoenix two weeks ago. The guy definitely gave his all, and he put on a killer show. He was the only guy on stage, and he still TORE it up. He is right that only way to see his show is if its DARK, you get the full effect that way. So, sorry to hear the people at Bonnaroo didnt get the full effect, but the guy really does go all out.

That post was unnecesarry, and could have been done in a nicer, more professional way, but regardless of how professional it was, he still has a point.
1. It was probably the show it self's fault for Kanye going on so late
2. You probably could never withstand the amount of hard work Kanye puts into all his shows. I was at his Glow in the Dark tour, it was truly one of the best performances I have seen in years-and I have seen a lot of amazing people perform.
3. This is not "Unlikely" because there are thousands of legendary bands, artists, or any type of performer that has gone on relatively later.
4. Yes, it sucks to wait, but throwing shit on the stage is immature and just made the entire show worse.
Look, I know it may not have been Kanye's BEST performance, but he sure as hell worked his ass off. He may not be as "big" as Pearl Jam, but I am almost 100 percent sure they had some input in this situation, and it is partly their fault.
Give Kanye a break. He is an incredible performer most of the time, makes awesome music, is a better influence then most hip hop stars, and all in all is a nice person.
He fucking rocks. So as mad as you might be for going on late, it's not the end of the world, and he still is amazing.

K was in Atlanta at a birthday party, he showed up late, demanded 5 trailers. Nice act traching Bonnorro, they put on a 4 day party with over 80 bands and HIS is the ONLY show to have any problems, blame someone else man. Like the Bonnorro chant goes "KANYE SUCKS"

this is such bull… he was originally slated for 830 pm when it just started to get dark out. he didn't want to compete with jack johnson because he didn't want to compete for an audience. the reason why pearl jam kept playing an hour late was because kanye tried to get them to CUT THEIR SET SHORT and eddie vedder was obviously not having it. saying that the people who organize bonnaroo are stupid and don't know what they are doing is RIDICULOUS. they are pros… metallica put on one of the best shows i've EVER seen.. it's all about the performers attitude and willingness to be open to the crowd and kanye was completey COLD AND IMPERSONAL. he is trying to sell his product. he doesn't give a shit about fans or music. he's a f*cking brat i hope he never sells another record! This post really makes me sad. I was AT the Bonnaroo performance and yes he WAS suppose to go on at 2:45. Sure the crowd was rude and threw things but BELIEVE ME they LEFT (A LOTTTTTT of people left) So the people who stayed for the 4:30 performance, including me, REALLY cared about Kanye and wanted to see the show. The show was great and it looked GREAT. It sucks we didn't get to see all of it, but stuff happens. So people need to stop blaming Kanye, and Kayne needs to stop blaming people, because the people who cared and wanted to see the show were there. This whole situation is just sad…….

I was at Bonnarroo - Kanye did put on a good show, he seemed to be giving it his all, but unfortunately after standing in a crowd of tens of thousands of people all night until 4:30 in the morning to see him, people were so exhausted, dirty and pissed off (really pissed) by then it didn't matter how he performed.

Glad to finally have an apology even if it was somewhat sarcastic and almost two weeks later. He found time to defend Soulja Boy before he found time to defend Bonnaroo. Anyway, he should have just left out the light show part and the whole spectacle of the Glow in the Dark tour and if he really did care, then he should have said something to the crowd. He got up there, did his shit kinda and walked off stage without a word. I don't know why Bonnaroo would let Metallica set up pyro ahead of time and not Kanye. The only possibility is that Superfly were being dicks or Kanye is lying.

I was at Bonnaroo and happened to be one of those people who were really excited about Kanye's performance. In his defense, Pearl Jam did go over their set for an hour. But an hour would've meant a 3:45 start time, not a 4:30 start time. Also, it would've been nice to hear an apology or some sort of explanation. But not once did Kanye address the situation to the audience. He complained that they gave him a time when it was still light out, well guess what, the sun starts coming up at about 4:30, so it was all in vain none the less. For Kanye to say that it's about the fans is pure bollocks, not addressing his fans is as much proof of that as anyone needs.

I like how he completely bashes a festival with an amazing history. He is obviously too high maintenance for this type of thing. Bonaroo is supposed to be chill. There are plenty of acts that have gotten on stage through out the years of out door festivals with much less funding, that have done incredibly well. I think Kanye is like a child that didn't get all the special effects he wanted on stage, so gave a mediocre performance, and used that as his excuse.

I saw the glow in the dark tour and I understands where he is coming from with the whole show setup. It really needs to be performed in the dark for the audience to get the full affect. You can see he has worked very hard on the presentation which is why he doesn't want it to be comprimised. I think the promoters may have dropped the ball and Kanye suffered the wrath of the fans. With that said sometimes you have to make lemonade out of lemons Kanye. The true mark of a great artist is being able to adjust and perform in any situation.

I was at Bonnaroo too and he did half ass it. I was even tripping and his show sucked…now what does that say.
Plus I'd rather listen to Pearl Jam anyways.

i completely understand where kanye is coming from. i've heard some people describe him as a tortured genious and extreme perfectionist. he paces etc…bonaroo bitches sit ur simplass down. i can personally attest to the fact thaT Kanye does an unbelievable job when he performs. he puts his everything into each show, and the fact that there were elements that he couldn't control probably drove him up the wall. say what you will, if you have a piece of a brain cell that's not squidly[lmao @ him saying squid brains] you'd recognize how talented he is.
i relate to yeasy and his desire to genuinely pleasy. you all should be glad he worked this hard to still perform. he could have been an a*hole and just cancelled the show after they kept messing around. i was at bonnaroo… wanted to see kanye, but when we'd been waiting for an hour i couldn't take it anymore… it was almost 4am and i'd been tripping since 6pm… and too bad kanye doesn't mention that phil lesh had to cut his set short on another stage because kanye refused to perform with anyone else playing at the same time… i still like kanye's music enough- i'm not really a hip hop person… but damn, man… as it was spray painted on the fences at the 'Roo- Fuck Kanye.
Okay, So i went to Bonnaroo…..I live like a half mile from where Bonnaroo took place. Anywho. Kayne needs to stop complaining damnit!!! We waited almost 2 hours for him!!!!! He at least could have stoped his show or even before he was supost to come, when we were booing him and throwing stuff at the tv screen, should have came on and said he was sorry. We waited for him and paid over $2oo dollars to see him. All would have been forgiven if he would have said he was sorry for the inconvince. The Bonnaroo people who own the land and put on this fine 3 day event have no reason to apologize to us. THEY HIRED YOU KAYNE. YOU WERE SUPOST TO LIVE UP TO YOUR WORD. THEY ARE NOT AT FAULT. HERES SOME FUCKING CAPS FOR YOU ASSHOLE.
On another note, Bonnaroo is awsome and if you have the time and money next year, come out to Manchester, Tn and have a great with us!!!!
Eat a dick Kanye. I was there and your "squid for brains" people could have said something. So it is you people you should be mad at. There were 100 acts there better than you. The festival has been successful for 7 years, so i guess they are doing something right, asshole.
I was one of the people waiting from 2:30-4:30 a.m. for the show to start. At 2:45 (when the show was supposed to start), they put a message on the big screen that said the show would start at 3:00, at 3 they put up a sign that said it would start at 3:15, at 3:15 they put up a sign that said 3:30, after that the screen just said "Kanye West Next." When we got to the stage at 2:30, the lighting rig was still down, and they hadn't even started building the landscape. They knew the show wasn't going to start at 3, 3:15, or 3:30, but instead of putting up a truthful message that said, something like "Come back at 4," they held us hostage sitting in a field in the cold in the middle of the night. Certainly, that's not Kanye's fault. I have no doubt it was the Bonnaroo team that did that.
When Kanye did come out and perform, he couldn't take 30 seconds to say something like "Hey ya'll. Thanks for waiting." Just a tiny concession to acknowledge that while he was on his tour bus or in the artist tent we were sitting out in a field in TN from 2:30-4:30 a.m. just waiting as the dew started to form on ourselves and all our stuff. I think it's a real shame, too, because what he did with that show really was amazing and that's what Bonnaroo is supposed to be all about (experiencing new music in new ways) and I think under different circumstances, it could have been very well received.

I didnt even stay for the lame performance but he was disrespectful to everyone there, and didnt put on a show worthy of all of the hastle and time spent. He just wasnt like any of the other bands there it was pointless for him to come because he obviously didnt get what the whole festival was supposed to be about. About 3/4 of the people bailed before he even came on, and it was his fault.

I was working behind the scenes at Bonnaroo and they came on the radio and said that Kanye would not perform unless all the other music was stopped. I know Tiesto was playing at the time and there were 2 other stages going also. He's a pompous bitch that needs to get over himself. If Metallica could cut their pyro out then he could of found a way to adjust his!

I was @ the show in the front..Yes there were boos and people throwing things…but not once did kanye recognize us, nor did he appologize for being so late. After the show was over he dropped his mic and walked away….thought his fans meant more to hin..specially since my sunglasses were on at the end.
