Tennis "star" Maria Sharapova just lost big time to a player ranked at 154!
Sucks.
Sharapova was beaten during the second round at Wimbledon on Thursday by fellow Russian Alla Kudryavtseva.
She was defeated 6-2, 6-4.
Poor Sharapova.
Just four years ago, at the age of 17, she defeated Serena Williams at Wimbledon.
Looks like Sharapova spent too much time worrying about fashion with her "tuxedo" top and short shorts, when she should have been practicing to win.
Is it time to retire????

Fashion should come last, tennis first. It's one or the other. Too bad Sharapova has the talent, but lacks ambition. I would like to see her concentrate on her game.

i agree, if you knew anything about tennis, she is dealing with an injury, and its not uncommon in tennis for a low seed to beat a higher seed. In tennis you wake up and feel one thing off your gonna have to fight pretty hard.
She has had an injury that she has been trying to work through since before the french open. Anyone who saw her performance then would know that its the same thing! She needs to sit out and rest but I guess she feels she must play in the grand slams!

Ummm… you do sounded like you don't know anything about tennis. Maria has been known for being fashionable in the court. If you don't remember, she sported a black tennis outfit with sequins not too long ago at the US Open with matching "I feel pretty.. oh so pretty " Nike commercial that ran all season long until she won the US Open Grand Slam. You don't understand that she is one of the strongest players of her time, both mentally and physically. Unfortunately, tennis is a ball game, upsets do happen (this year same for Djokovic, Andy Roddick, James Blake).

Guess what, it happens all the time - Roddick was also out today. Also, while Sharapova's loss was a disappointment, she's far from retirement. She is ranked # 3 in the world - higher than the Williams sisters. This year, she won the Australian Open this year, which is one of the 4 major tournaments in tennis. Stick to gossiping.

You know nothing about pro tennis!!!! Any player that qualifies for Wimbledon is top notch. There is so much depth in pro tennis these days that you cant base it on one match. Look at Serena's this year, Ana the #1 player in the world barely won against Dechy. She should have lost that match. 2 of the most lucky points I have ever scene.
