    Re: Hal R Hosfeld
What the hell is going on with the world? Do you realize how dumb you sound right now? The world shouldn't be discriminated like that. I know that you probably grew up in an area that believes that is OKAY to make fun of mentally disabled, blacks, and mexicans. but it's NOT. Just for the record, I am white and live in a middle class neighborhood. YOU JACKASS, not every "white" believes that everyone thats a different race is lower then us. It's called we live in a country that is equal. How did we even get to racism in this post?
    You are unbelievable.

  2. 102

they've been out of cash and on the edge of bankruptcy for like 10 years. the government keeps bailing their asses out. what are they going to do? let all the airlines go under and we will have no more flights to anywhere? not going to happen. they will be bailed out again and again. maybe they should stop overbooking flight, causing delays and having shitty customer service, then more people would fly. I used to take a flight to visit my BFF in VA. I live in NH… next time I'm driving…. I had such a bad experience with the airlines last time I flew. My mom is actually CURRENTLY stuck at the ATL airport headed to FL.. surprise, her flight is overbooked and delayed.

My husband is a pilot and this is serious stuff. Not a day goes by where an airline doesn't do massive layoffs, goes bankrupt, or merges with another just to last a few more months. For all of you who say "who cares" or "who gives a fuck" must be the people who never leave their backyard and that's sad.

  4. 104

Perez is just like every other Democrat in this country.
Tells us something's fucked up and that we have to fix it, but gives absolutely no input as to how to go about fixing it.

  7. 107

To the idiots that want to scream "You can't blame Bush for everything…"YES, WE CAN! Bush is the CEO and is supposed to be aware of everything that's going on and is the one that should fall on the proverbial sword when the shit hits the fan. However, WE are to blame for enriching the Chinese economy at the expense of our middle class. Why? Because places like Wal-Mart are allowed to build commerce churches all over the country, and city governments will roll out the red carpet to them, give them insane tax breaks, and for what? Jobs? Discount food and clothes, while employees with families are forced to use the same medical services as welfare moms and illegal aliens. Oil prices are fucked because we destabilized an entire region of the mid-east, and George's buddies in the oil business have decided to gouge the shit out the public. But, it comes down to GREED on a national scale. Assholes who decided to buy up entire blocks of single family homes in places like Vegas, Phoenix, and SoCal, and the lenders who extended multi-million dollar lines of credit to straw investors-they single handedly eviscerated the lending market.

  8. 108

Sure, Bush is a complete and utter scumbag, and should be tried for murder, but its not fair to put the blame all on him without accepting the fact that 1) you knew he sucked when you re-elected him in '04, and 2) you contribute to the decline in the american economy every time you shop places like wal mart and target. read the fuckin' label, people. did you know that your local grocery store might be stocking fruits and vegetables from China?

Whats the problem ??? you liberals have done everything possible in the past to shut down commerce, i.e. no drilling , no refineries. no nuke plants, no logging, etc. We will all be living in trees again if you get your way. The airlines are just the first. Next is the trucking industry. We will soon find out what going on a diet really means when it cost toi much to transport food to town.

    112

NOT ONE DIME OF US TAX DOLLARS should bail out the industry. They have screwed around long enough, they have been bailed out before. END RUNAWAY SPECULATION ON OIL! IT IS DRIVING UP THE COST CONSIDERABLY! IT IS NOT A FREE MARKET WHEN INDUSTRY IS GIVEN SUBSIDIES!!!!

  13. CLEO says – reply to this

    113

Re: Stop – Bush and the Republicans are to blame, the loophole in the law, the same one that let Enron run up prices in California was created by the Republicans, the entire move to DE-REGULATION which has caused energy prices to be traded like any other commodity, which has only lead to their prices going up. Clinton had a hand in this two, but to act like the speculators the only ones to blame. The entire right wing, supply side, de-regulation, lower taxes on capital gains, all of this had lead up to this.

I second what JJ, the first comment, said, "This is the most baseless post I've ever read on here."

Who cares? They pollute the air and crash and are used as missiles by terrorists. There will always be ships.

Hey, this is what happens in a free market society.

  16. 116

Remember this: It's only going to get worse! This is just the tip of the MELTING iceberg! The greatest tribulation is on it's way. It will dwarf the Great Depression! Massive Tribulation ahead!!!!

    2) When the airline industry crashes, sooo many other industries will go down with it, so don't act like you dgaf, you'll see soon enough.

I agree with JJ, the first commentor, who said, "This is the most baseless post I've ever read on here."

fuck the airlines. i have been flying the past 2 weeks and all in all its a disaster. there are too many cheap flights, the airports are too crowded and there are too many trashy people who should be taking greyhound who are instead flying. this is overloading the system and causing airlines to lose money, annoy passengers and cause chaos. let them go out of business and/or charge higher airfares so all the white trash drives/takes greyhound. back in the 80s we used to dress up in suits to go on an airline and it cost $500 to fly across the country (equal to over $1,000 now). this will be good for the industry. also please hire some hot stewardesses - everytime i wanna puke when i go on the plane. there are hotter chicks working at Dennys these days.

Too bad, so sad!! Fuck them. All the assholes at the top (who ran them into the ground through imcompetancy) will still have their multi-million dollar homes and their multi-million dollar golden parachutes no matter what. They don't give a shit about their employees or their passengers. They have gotten away with horrible policies for years like over-selling seats and bumping passengers like it was nothing, losing people's bags left and right like it was nothing and begging the government for bailouts from our tax money. They can rot in hell.

You can stick up for n!ggers because you live in your little white neighborhood and don't have to deal with them on a daily basis. It's a fucking nightmare because they are among the worst people God ever put on this planet. They are lazy, raping, mugging, drugging thieving stinking pieces of crap. Move into an urban environment and deal with them daily and then you can speak about them. You don't know what you're talking about.

    Airlines are PRIVATE businesses.
The taxpayers should not be called on to bail them out of their money problems.
Maybe a total breakdown is what is needed for them to get it right.

  31. 131

What's the fucking worst that could happen? Airline policies nationally revamped, along with lower fares.
Let's take ALL their cash and push them to bankruptcy immediately.

  32. 132

good..they are ripping us off and bad for the environment..

  33. 133

If anyone knew anything about Economics…. the OIL PRICES are largely due to the strong hold environmental lobbyists have over the Democatic party, specifically the Democratically controlled house and Senate. We have not been able to drill for our own oil even though China and Mexico are drilling off our own coasts!! Plus we have not built new refineries in 30 years, and cannot use nuclear power or shale oil or clean coal. I don't care what kind of a conservationist you think you are, you CANNOT CONSERVE YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS! If you want to drill for your own oil go to w w w . h a n n i t y . com and you can sign the "Drill here, Drill now, pay less" pledge…. wake up people. Your Bush hatred has you in a fog.

And please, I am not going to switch to horse and buggy or a wind up car when Al Whore and his lot travel by private jet. Uggg, that's the change I'm looking for. Drill here, drill now.

thats what they first offered for it …the union is like HELLLL NO! hahaha. it wont be that bad in the end. It's just fuel killing the industry.

  41. LBD says – reply to this

    141

The legacy airlines (American, United, Northwest, Delta, etc) have been the chosen children of the airline industry for far too many years. They've constantly cried fowl when times got tough but, have only responded with worse service and attempts to lessen competition. Time to weed out the dead weight and let those that have a clue about running an airline to take over the system. Not doing so will mean another round of whining and moaning with every downturn in the economy. And the cost of fuel is not about to drop significantly any time soon.

  42. hank says – reply to this

Good. Maybe as a result our skys will be a little cleaner. If man were meant to fly he would have been created with a feather sticking out of his ass.

  43. AJ says – reply to this

    143

It's always about the bigger picture. We tend to think about things as it relates to only us the individual. When it is never in the USA best interest for USA companies to go out of business. I agree that CEO, top brass pay is out of hand. Talk to a regular employee. They are taking pay cuts, benefit cuts, working more for less. Why? So that they can survive. Feed themselves, take care of a family, keep a roof over their head. We should all care about the average USA person, as that is who you and I are.

  44. 144

This is just the beginning of an economic downward spiral. This administration is bullshit, and something needs to be done. Air travel is definitely something that people all over the world take for granted yet use regularly. Air travel is hugely important to foreign relations and economic growth among corporations. Not to mention all the practical uses air travel has provided. The cost of oil reaches a new high every day. If the airline business collapses the loss of jobs alone in this multi-billion dollar industry will really fuck up the economy. Perez is right. It would be a complete disaster.

  45. Babs says – reply to this

America is doomed. If Obama wins he will steal half your paycheck to give free everything to lazy people who don't pull their weight and if McCain wins we will be at war with Iran. It's a no win….I really don't know what the answer is.

  47. nicol says – reply to this

    147

So what??! If the government bails out the airlines AGAIN they will just go back to running themselves into the ground and treating their passengers like sh*t. Why should our tax money go to help them? In Europe they pay WAY more for gas than we do, and yet they have cheaper flights and treat their passengers well. Something needs to change here!

the oil companies do not presently even have the equipment to begin drilling for oil in the us. it is just another opportunity for them to grab land to hang on to. they are not drilling in like 80% of the land they already have for drilling.
drilling in the us ( offshore, etc.) won't produce any results for another 10 to 15 years. please tell me why republicans and christians just can't stand to preserve any natural beauty? why are they so eager to destroy god's creation?

Yea, except for that one time a Southwest pilot overshot the runway in Chicago and ran onto a freeway killing a little boy. Ooh, and YEARS of skipping required maintenance checks (resulting in the highest fines in airline history). Yes, Southwest is great. Jeeezz….people who fly Southwest are such brainless followers.
