You're an idiot. Jay-Z is not a "gangsta" rapper.

  2. 402

HE IS SCREWING WITH OASIS FOR DISSING HIM BEING AT THE FESTIVAL. HOW CAN YOU ALL BE SO FREAKIN' DUMB. JEEEZZUZ.

    404

What's so controversial about his performance? As to its quality, it was okay but he's done way better.

    405

That was awful! He needs to retire again! He sucks! I don't know why Beyonce married him. He is sooooo fugly!

    406

i went with complete open ears to see if he would deliver even though i wasnt keen on him playing….i left after the 2nd song. i kinda thought the whole i am the BEST rapper in the world was so pathetic, where was kanye and his glow in the dark show instead?!?!

  7. KES says – reply to this

    407

okay he is TONE DEAFFFF! sooooooo cant sing!
    buuuuttt
rap…. yes he can! he s an amazing rap artist but i think he should leave wonderwall to oasis!

  8. sheil says – reply to this

    408

um it was alright but at least he could have done was memorized the words to the song first. im sorry but that was kinda unprofessional of him. other then that it was a good performance…..when he started to sing HIS song.. enuff said.

  9. savei says – reply to this

    409

I can't stand Jay and I love Oasis, so i'm a little biased. Jay and Oasis are legendary in their own rights, but I think the biggest smack in the face was the crowd singing every single word of the song during and after Jay's performance, which was undeniably horrible. Noel is has a quick, emmensely intelligent wit and he isn't going to go down without a fight. GO NOEL!!!

    410

for all you morons that continue writing about him not being able to sing….hes actually making fun of the fact there were so many pissed off people not wanting him to perform at the show……hes slapping everyone across the face and half you idiots dont even know it…..HHOOOVVV

    411

i digged it…jay z is fresh and always doing something new

    412

using glasto as an opportunity to get your handbag out and continue a bitch slap fight with another singer is beyond immature and seriously one of the most unprofessional things I have ever heard. it'd be like one of us normal folk becoming a chairperson of a company then standing up at the AGM only to start slagging off someone who bullied us at school - pathetic

  13. Olivi says – reply to this

    413

    Je t'aime Jay

    414

    Re: ~
curious? were you aware that he doesn't write over half of his lyrics? he basically freestyles THEN goes back and memorizes it. pretty impressive. he only uses the beats that he feels, once he finds one it's history

  15. JLove says – reply to this

    415

I think that was a very smart move on his part to start off w/ something everyone there would know. I bet his show was off the chain! You gotta give that man respect, he appealed to the masses.

  16. Kiwi@ says – reply to this

    416

Wonderwall was a piss take - and fucken genius!

  17. G says – reply to this

    417

Wow. The comments on here make me think of the George Garlin line, "think about how stupid the average person is….then consider that half the people are dumber than that."

Wonderwall wasn't a cover performance it was a joke on Noel from Oasis. The number or 'tards on here taking it seriously is giveing me a good laugh.

    418

this is why live hip hop sucks donkey nuts… who the fuck is rapping with jay-z go get your own career… why do good rappers let their freeloading friends on stage

  19. Liz says – reply to this

    419

I thought that was fan-FREAKING-tastic! He was smart to cater to the crowd by adding more of a rock sound. As for "Wonderwall," of course no one can sing it better than Oasis, but it's hard not to sing along to that song and enjoy it!

  20. Lea says – reply to this

    420

Jay-z flipped the metaphorical finger to the press. He f-ing rocked glasto!!!
He knows how to work a crowd, let me tell you that!
And the media said he didn't belong there……. they should all be sacked.

  21. peopl says – reply to this

    421

the Wonderwall cover was a JOKE, a DISS on Noel Gallagher of Oasis…it was supposed to suck.

  22. savei says – reply to this

    422

everyone KNOWS jay z is mocking noel gallagher, its blatantly obvious. Oasis may be washed up in the US but in Europe everyone loves them, they're number 1. Three of their albums are in the top 10 british albums in the past 50 years. they are still VERY VERY substantial. They sell out the biggest stadiums in Europe every tour they do. Last year they sold out Madison Square Garden, even some of the best American bands can't do that.

  23. alexx says – reply to this

    423

    wow.
    that sucked.

  24. sarah says – reply to this

    424

I was there, he only did wonderwall because Noel Gallagher slammed him, and blamed Jay-Z for the poor ticket sales. Bitter much that oasis werent asked to play? He didnt claim to be a good singer, he wasnt doing it seriously, it was all tongue in cheek. You americans need to get your head out of your asses, and understand humour.

  25. & says – reply to this

    425

i love wonderwall! jay-z didnt seem 100% sure of the words lol but a decent effort and the crowd seemed to like it

  26. Chris says – reply to this

    426

For everyone that says Jay Z can't sing, you totally missed the whole point of what he was trying to do. (Grow some brain cells). That was Jay Z's way of retaliation against Noel of Oasis for the absurd comments he's made about Jay Z. If you are dazed and confused, please google and do a little research before you decide to talk sideways about Jay. One.

  27. char says – reply to this

    427

it was because of noel's comments about JAY Z weeks before. it's his comeback
    lolz

  28. Semmy says – reply to this

    428

TO ALL YOU MORONS WHO KEEP WRITING AND TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT THIS WAS A JOKE—-WE GET IT!!! WE GET IT!!! THE PROBLEM WITH HIS "DISS" IS THAT IT WASN'T A DISS AT ALL; IF ANYTHING HE DID OASIS A FAVOR. HE CAN'T EVEN DISS SOMEONE WITHOUT IT BEING A CROWDPLEASER (NOT BECAUSE OF HIS SONG, MIND YOU)!!! PEOPLE SINGING THE LYRICS OF A SONG FROM THE VERY BAND HE'S TRYING TO DISS! NOW THAT'S FUNNY! JAY-Z IS JUST AN IMAGE, THAT'S ALL, AS FAR AS HIS LYRICS GO, I WOULD BE EMBARRASSED TO RAP ABOUT MINDLESS STUFF LIKE THAT AND THEN CALL MYSELF AN ARTIST. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER RAPPERS OUT THERE, BUT YOU IDIOTS SUPPORTING JAY WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT THEM, WOULD YOU NOW? I GUESS YOU LIKE LEAVING YOUR BRAINS AT THE DOOR BEFORE HIS CONCERTS?

  29. Nina says – reply to this

    429

Noel was right! Someone else should have intervened and stopped this nonsense!

  30. Hone says – reply to this

    430

Wonderwal was a joke, it was a tongue in cheek because of all the drama surrounding his performance, it wasn't for real, i thought that was obvious but i guess most of you are american so it's to be expected!!!

  31. 431

Im not in to rap and this is why it started out with the recording of wonderwall in the background and jay z singing along with it,can you say bad bad bad karoakee thenI heard some rip off riffs of ac dc which just sounded like plagurisem at its worst I think rap is nothing but a big ripp off real artist sampling yeah right the shit sucks

  32. Tee says – reply to this

    432

    Horrible. Stick the studio!

  33. Tay says – reply to this

  36. c74 says – reply to this

    436

To all you talentless idiots out there who have watched some youtube clips and then feel you are in the allmighty position to pass judgement ……..SHUT UP!!!!
Despite several people explaining to you that Jay Z was taking the piss with his wonderwall cover you still just don"t seem to get it!!! He was never meant to be singing it well, he's a rapper NOT a singer! He was, in fact, making a very clever dig at Noel for saying that there was no place for Hip Hop at Glastonbury. If you had seen the show in person (as I did) instead of over the internet you would have seen a whole video montage showing Noels comments that explained the controversey behind it!!! Furthermore, Noel is a complete mouthy idiot and Oasis as so far behind the times they can't even get a record to chart these days so i don't think they're in any position to tell anyone else what they should or should'nt be listening to!!!! J totally killed it on saturday, he had the crowd with him and i'm still buzzing off of it!

  37. Alexa says – reply to this

    437

Re: Hone – Did you really have to go there? American humor is no different from British humor, and you guys repeatedly pointing out the difference is nettling at best. Everyone's got it, it was a fucking diss. Jay-Z has been doing this for years, way before he even knew who the fuck Oasis is was. YOU didn't seem to read the comments that pointed out that we understand it's a joke. We're just insulting his voice, that's all, because he sounds like shit. So, please, before you mention us petty "Americans" in a post again, take a moment to think about it, then shut the fuck up.

  38. c74 says – reply to this

    438

What are you on????? I'm from London and can assure you that Oasis are not loved by everyone over here! There last album died a death and the only time you EVER hear their music now is if some corny station plays it on the radio!!!! Oasis are totally irrelevant and out of touch thats why no one gives a damn about them now.

  39. cel says – reply to this

    439

Jayz killed it. Hes a fucking genius. You cant play chess and expect to win with this man. He is a very smart guy and by doing Wonderwall after Oasis talked soo much shit made alot of sense. Basically jay gets the last laugh CHECK MATE.

HE CAME, HE SAW, HE CONQUERED!

  40. Marti says – reply to this

    440

    Re: c74

Mate, you must be living in some kind of village not London, please do not insult my city! Oasis are and always will be relevant, not only in Europe but around the world. Idiots like you who try to ignore that only show their own foolishness. As far as the performance goes, from what I can see–this one sucked, others—I don’t know, I did not go and none of my mates did because of Jay-z.

  41. LilWa says – reply to this

    441

Dude put it on blast….who the fuck out there can perform like him in the hip hop game with a body of work like his? Who held you down for 6 summers in a row with a "summer anthem" - who can consistently put our record after record that has more than a couple hot 16 bar pieces. J,,,,,A,,,,,,Y

  42. Tony says – reply to this

    442

THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE (INCLUDING RAPPERS) AGAINST JAY-Z PERFORMING AT GLASTONBURY. SO IT WAS NOT ONLY GALLAGHER WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A BIT SILLY, LET'S JUST GET THAT STRAIGHT. GALLAGHER ONLY SAID WHAT THE MAJORITY THOUGHT/THINKS. YES, THERE IS A PLACE FOR JAY-Z BUT IT SURE AS HELL IS NOT AT GLASTONBURY.

  43. lilwa says – reply to this

    443

Tony - I guess they were all proved wrong eh? Did you see the crowd? Hmmmm

  44. jess says – reply to this

    444

do you even need to ask, perez?
    jay's performance was siiick.
he combined a english music & style with straight american hip hop and concert.
i think it's genius of him to have done that. if you really over analyze it, it's like the best example of integrating cultures (american + english) at glastonbury.
i just found a new respect for jay-z. he stepped up to the plate on this one.

  45. Tony says – reply to this

    445

    Re: lilwa

JUDGING FROM THE COMMENTS AND REVIEWS, NO MAN (!!!), THEY WERE NOT PROVEN WRONG! JAY INDEED DID SUCK!

  50. Gavin says – reply to this

    450

Can someone please explain what was the point of the Jigga Man wearing a guitar that he never played??? was that part of his costume?

  51. kim says – reply to this

    451

the point isn't whether jay-z can sing or not. the point is he took the most famous song from one of the most iconic english bands and incorporated it into his music. it was merely an acknoledgement of their culture. I saw him in sydney in oct 2006 and it was the same. he wore an australian flag for one of the songs and the crowd went nuts for him. I think because so much shit was said about him performing at glastonbury he had to come out there and surprise them, give them something that would blow their minds. and he did just that.

  52. LAMO says – reply to this

    452

It really pisses me off reading these comments like "he butchered the song". Jay will always bring that spankfuck. Fuck Oasis. Watch it again and figure out what he did fucksticks.

  58. verit says – reply to this

    458

i was there and it was amazing.. perhaps the whole crowd singing made up for the fact he didnt know the song wonderwall

  59. angie says – reply to this

    459

The song was a big hit back in 1995 for thr group Oasis and the guy that was opposed to J headlining the show this year. So J did his song and played the guitar kinda like a slap in his face and a diss big time. It was not suppose to sound good and perfect, it was meant to be funny and prove a point to the Oasis guy. This was Classic.

  60. chris says – reply to this

    460

gangsta rap in england… thats just humorous and absurd. hey man nice shot.

    464

He needs to stick with what he knows best….. 99 probs was good as always but as for Wonderwall..he looked like a12 year old pretending he knew the lyrics to a song.
    annoying.

    he SURE did!!!
    Great Job Jay
    FUCK Noel Gallagher

  66. chris says – reply to this

    466

i think the founder of the festival is getting a free ride. the whole festival was founded and raised on true rock and roll music and helping rock n roll bands further themselves… and how jay fits in there i have NO idea… as for Noel being jealous of not being asked to headline… Rubbish… They have headlined that gig countless times… I'd bet more times than any other band…

    Re: Marti
I DO live in London 'Mate' that's how I know that Oasis aren't relevant - when was the last time they had a hit????? No-one cares about them anymore, all they are good for is making sarky comments and being on crap programmes like The F Word - how rock and roll is that?????? Thank god i was a Blur fan! Jay Z well and truly told Noel where to go and furthermore, if you didn't bother going to Glastonbury then you're not really in any position to pass comment!
