Everyone Wants a Piece of the Comeback Spotlight

This could be good…or really bad!
Molly Ringwald revealed in a recent interview that she would be up for doing a Sixteen Candles sequel.
Ringwald says, "It was something that I definitely wanted to do, but [writer-director] John Hughes wasn't interested, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it without his involvement. If we can get John to agree, I think it would be great. I think there are definitely a lot of people who would love to see it, and I would love to do it."
Perhaps, John Hughes knows what's best. Why mess with a classic?
What are your thoughts?
Do y'all want to see a sequel????

No. Its over and done with- most people who saw the movie back in the 80's have too much going on in their lives to bother themselves with another craptastic sequel.
NO one wants to see 56 Candles!
Why are they all going back to make remakes???? They all need to retire. On a different note who watched Corey Haim/Feldman? Here is Haim trying to work trying to obtain a life. Feldman is a cock smith, all he does is act like he is superior with his plastic wife and nice house. He talks shit behind his back. What a douche……..LEave the 80's alone they were perfect!!!!!!!!!!!
What, are they going to name it 61 candles? A re-make of that would be as bad as a re-make of Dirty Dancing… and NOBODY puts Baby in the corner!
Re: anon – YOU ARE FUCKING STUPID WHITE BITCH KISS MY ASS YANKEE WHITE WHORE!
I WANT TO SEE "THE BREAKFAST CLUB 2"
Re: kelse –
DONT MIND HONEY……WE HATE YOU TOOOOOOOOOOOO
Re: kelse –
LICK IT……SUCK IT…….FUCK IT……………….. GET THE FUCK OFF K?
Definatly not a good idea. That movie was about high school, not about adulthood! Just let everyone figure that samantha and jake lived happily ever after and leave it at that!
Only if she ended up with Farmer Ted. He's hot now!
No. Molly Ringwald is an 80's Goddess. Leave the past in the past.
Remakes always ruin a classic !!!
Ask Sylvestor Stallone.
Don't go there, Molly!!!
No!!!! Please leave it alone. What are we going to rehash her an Jake's nasty divorce and subsequent therapy for their kids, no way. happy endings need to stay that way.
Re: ae – Re: ae – what are you, 9 years old or a complete stupid fuck?
16 candles = best movie EVER!!
dont mess with it.
its 16 candles, not 43 candles. Leave it alone
It'll never happen. John Hughes is a recluse. And if she won't do it without him, then it won't happen.
And if by chance it does, it will suck really really hard.
I would have to know what kind of sequel it was, if John Hughes came out of 'hiding' with a script and with Molly Ringwald ready to reprise her role [I bet she'd be a mom figure though].
You really can't improve on the original though- it's classic.
What was the name of the movie with Molly and she got pregnant, married while still in high school, had the baby (girl), got depressed, her husband was supposed to go to college but didn't etcetcetc….? I'd like to see how they grew up…
Re: ae –
What planet were you raised on to NOT know who Molly Ringwald is? She is the VERY DEFINITION of classic 80's teen films. You know you sound stupid right?!
Heck no, the girl couldn't act her way out of a paper bag 25 years ago, I'm pretty sure things haven't changed.
No to Sixteen Candles…..yes, yes to Pretty in Pink or that movie where she was a knocked up mother. She could show how her reality set in and be a welfare mother to a bunch of rotten shit childrens.
If done right it could be very poingnant… hopefully a better version of say "Parenthood". Who would play the kids this time around?
Re: ae – AE you must be an infant who can't use a remote control—-while it may be before your time it is on cable frequently.
Absolutely not! Don't mess with that movie!
Re: ejl – The Movie your referring to is FOR KEEPS! LOVED IT!!!
Re: ejl –
ahh yes, that would be "For Keeps".. definitely watched that movie in my high school health class haha
don't mess with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what would it be called, 45 Candles???
I can't stand MOLLY RINGWORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wtf is 16 candles? never heard of it… gosh this site is full of old people. shouldn't you guys/girls be dead?
I was an 80's kid, and was just about the same age as the kids in 16 candles when it came out (which, of course, makes me fairly old now i suppose) and
I would definitely see this movie….
and lets face it, most of us guys had a huge crush on Molly when we were teens.
stupid idea. what the hell would they call it, "116 candles"?
ON A SCALE OF 1-10- SHE IS A 1! God her face is one of the ugliest on TV ever! Ewwww- HIDEOUS! Damn she is still ugly! Can you imagine having that FUG FACE? Classic my ASS. She's a nobody and a really really reaally really really really UGLY NOBODY TO BOOT. HIDEOUS FACE AND HAIR.
They re remaking The Breakfast Club but it's called American something. It's the exact same thing…so it can be done. Just not with the old cast in it. It's called American teen…same shit.
Re: kelse –
then why are you on his site, douche?
I would LOVE to see it!
Re: ??? –
well i'm 17, and i LOVE sixteen candles! you're just some loser douchebag with no life if you've never heard of it. either that or you're a whorely cyrus fan.
We would dig it. John Hughes go back to work.
SHE IS SO HIDEOUS. So ugly. Who would ever kiss her? or marry her? She has the face of an asshole and the teeth of a HIDEOUS GREMLIN MONSTER. She is uglier or as UGLY as tori spelling, GEENA davis, JENNA ELFMAN ewwww- SO FUCKING UGLY. Her hair too! Who is uglier than her? SHE IS A LOSER AND HIDEOUS. Her legs were HIDEOUS on tv too. god she is pathetic. anyone who likes her- ewww.LA LA LA LOSER.
Hell yes I want one, where the hell is Jake?
I don't think there is material for the sequel other than it was a good movie for teenagers, which is the biggest money market nowadays. Every business is trying to grab a bucket of the disposable money, basically after teens. Molly is just wishing outloud, just like I wish I had won the lottery. If you think about it, what will the plot be about? Molly gets dumped and goes for the nerdy boy? That script will suck, and it already has been used a million times in the last 20 years. Has anyone seen 'NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE'?
I would love to see it!!
lifeslounge.com
Yes!! And also a sequal to Pretty in Pink…..I want to know what Duckie has been doing all these years????? And for the 12 year old who hasn't heard of Sixteen Candles…..Please shut the fuck up.
I think that is the dumbest thing she could do.
She needs to let it be a classic. I mean what
the heck else could you do with that movie?
MAYBE breakfast club would be a good sequel
I'd watch itt!
I was watching this the other night and wondered why they never made a sequel. Yeah, they should have done a sequel–like in 1986. I think it's too late now. Although I would kind of like to see her get with the geek–Anthony-Michael Hall. Who is actually pretty cool now. I liked Jake Ryan too, but I don't know how he would fit in the new one. Also, bring back John Cusack…as a newer, cooler person tho'
Molly was never ugly. Just because she isn't your "type" doesn't make her ugly. That's not the best pic of her and we all have bad pic moments. You guys who call her ugly are just angry trolls who couldn't/can't get a piece of @ss. Calling her ugly doesn't make you look any better. I hope all of you get mauled by a wild animal so we can call you hideous and point and laugh.
NOOOOOOO!!
Where's the real gossip and celebrity news Mario? What - are your usual "sources" not posting that frequently today?
I HATED THIS MOVIE , SERIOUSLY!!! MY FRIEND MADE ME WATCH IT AND I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER HER MY FRIEND ANYMORE!!!! I HATE MOLLY RINGWALD!
Schoeffling is married to a fellow former model, Valerie Robinson, with two teenaged children and has mostly dropped out of acting. He now runs his own business, a shop in his northeastern Pennsylvania hometown of Wilkes-Barre, near Scranton and north of the Poconos Mountains, that produces handcrafted furniture.
Please NO SEQUEL! This is one of my favorite movies of all times (just watched it over the weekend even)…. I would hate to see this get used and abused…. Leave it alone please.. thank you.
I think it would be nice for all the 30 somethings out there. It would probably go straight to DVD though.
I would love if they could just bring back Jake Ryan. He was so hot and got even hotter when he played Joe in Mermaids. BRING BACK JAKE RYAN!
No. Absolutely not. That movie is THE signature 80's teenage angst movie along with Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Those movies are so loved! Why mess with them?
Think Grease 2. Enough said.
NO!!! don't ruin the original!! why doesn't anyone try a novel idea… and make a NEW movie, not a remake or sequel!!
WHAT?!!?!
i would totally see it. Sixteen candles is the best movie ever made and Molly Ringwald is great.
NO NO NO NO NO - DO NOT MESS WITH PERFECTION!
Loved Fast Times at Ridgemont High also. Sean Penn seemed to have a sense of humor back then. I have heard that Michael Schoeffling is the most requested "where are they now" person. You would think somebody would have gotten a picture or an interview. Unless he is totally against publicity. My 14 year cousin wore I heart Jake Ryan Tshirt a few years ago. The movie is a total classic. I wish it was a longer movie.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
What the heck would it be about!? She married the handsome jock and now 15 years later he is a fat plumber? How exciting..cant wait. I rather see Breakfast Club 2.
Re: ejl – You're talking about the movie "For Keeps". Great movie!!
YESSSSS!! Love Molly! I wish we could see more of her work.
what would she be….the mother?
Would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see a sequel as long as they can make it as good as the original or even better if that is at all possible. I LUV Jake Ryan !!!!!
YES YES YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES
I'd rather see a pretty in pink sequel or maybe even a For Keeps one!
Re: imthe – are u dumb how old r u im 14 and i have heard about this actress she is very talent 16 candles was made in the 80s and i know about it u should see it u must be soooo dumb
i would love to see that movie..!! cause i love 16 candles…
I would LOVE to see a sequel. Get all the originals back– Molly, Michael Schoeffling, Pual Dooley as the dad, Anthony Michael Hall, John and Joan Cusack, and make them the parents of TODAY'S TEENAGERS! Man, would you see a different movie. Remember the line "and you do it on a cloud without getting pregnant OR herpes." LOL! Those were the days when that's all you had to worry about.
#154, you are so right! He was even hotter in Mermaids. I loved that movie.
NO! ugh ringwald stop living in the past! no wonder all she does now is lame cameos
Re: ae – have you been living under a rock for the past 20 years?
Unsure on the sequel…why ruin a classic? I'm actually looking forward to her newer project The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It's time she took on the adult role! (She's playing the mother of a pregnant teen!!)
Shes still hot plus she has a fantastic set of titties
Yes! Bring back Jake! And that wrestler guy in the background of the chin up scene.
I'm usually the first one to say YAY SEQUEL when it's something I really loved, but there are some things you just don't mess with!
They are Classic movies like 16 candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink etc… others are Kraft mac n cheese, Your Mom's hair and your best friends boyfriend. All of the above would be bad bad bad.
Re: kelse –
YOUR A CUNT FACE GO SUCK A DICK
P.S. its been to long to make a part 2
I met and worked with this ugly CUNT and she is a fucking bitch!!!!!
Total Diva Has-Been!!!!
She deserves nothing!!!! Maybe she can go hang out with Cory Haim and Corey Feldman and do a cameo on their A&E reality show or choke to death on her horse teeth!
Re: OMG – hahahahahaha!! made me laugh.
more jake ryan? yes please
No, that was a good movie in the 80s but that is long past and her fashion style, for instance, would be very out-of-date. It's a terrible idea. It only appealed to the youth at that time. That movie has no relevance today. Molly Ringwald, if you really want to do another movie, try one that is has current subject matter, not an 80s throwback.
I think it's a great idea. I just wanted the original. Samatha and Jake could be the parents this time around. Please bring back Long Duck Dong!
in a hot minute!
I agree, Jane Ryan, is so hot. He was is the movie Mermaides and still looked hot. I want to see the real Jake with a yound new redhead, wooo wooo!
One of the funniest 80's movies…. because it coulda happened. Being lost in the shuffle of household especially before your sister's wedding. But the angst of teenage life does not translate well to the angst of your 30's. The geekiness of high school is just funny. Jake Ryan was the ultimate boyfriend lust. In your 30's other things matter beside the sweater vest and top siders.
Pretty in Pink would be a better remake.
oh yeah!
YESSSSSSSSSS i love her. cute girl:]
Are her tits still perky? I'd love to wiggle my little finger around her sphincter.
Re: ae – DUDE EVERYONE KNOWS 16 CANDLES! it came out a few years before i was born and i know what it is!
plus, hasnt a 30 candles film been on everyones mind, but no one seems to stick to the project, thats what ive heard in the past.
Oh yes.. then it would be my second favorite movie!
I think it would be interesting to see a sequel of Sixteen Candles, but I don't think it'll be any good. Frankly, I don't really like sequels so I'm pessimistic about them anyway. But if they could keep it interesting and bring back Michael Schoeffling, that'd be awesome!
Don't YOU dare do a sequel. It's perfect the way it is…….thank you!
i would LOVE to see a sequal to this movie. It would be AMAZINGGGG
Molly Ringwald is an absolutely atrocious actress. She has a vacant, huge-eye-ball look like a spent piece of cocaine shoveling, post-80's jet trash. She has absolutely no soul or style. There was a time when we was amazing, but as with a lot of child actors she clearly peaked at 17. John Hughes is brilliant, but he bailed out of the movie scene years ago. NO WAY would he come back for her. He knows better. He know he'll never be able to write good teen angst again because he's older than dirt. And he most surely won't be back to for Ringwald's useless, creepy acting. NO! NO! NO!
No.
Don't mess with perfection. Leave well enough alone! Love the original and a sequal will just come across as boring! Nothing will ever capture the moment in time that it was. Kids these days won't "get it".
No Way..this is one of my favorites. It would just be lame, unless Long Duck Dong, Anthony Michael Hall and the dude who played Jake Ryan were in… Molly Ringwald wasn't even the funny one, it was the other supporting characters that "made" the movie. DONT TOUCH IT.
I like the idea..You can reunite the characters at a HS reunion and have some fun story line that gets Molly and the gang tangled in a cute scheme. Loves it! CIAO.
She had a big affair with John Hughes back in the day, maybe it ended sour that's why he's giving her the brush up. I used to love those brat pack films, my fave was the Breakfast Club.
