The British media reports that a Friends movie is in the works.
Apparently, the success of the Sex and the City movie has inspired the crew to get back together and make a flick.
Sounds like wishful thinking to us!
A source says, "Jennifer (Aniston), Courteney (Cox) and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances. The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right. Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions."
The SATC movie promised sexy glitz, glamour and couture on a grander scale than what we saw on TV.
Friends on the big screen sounds like a big yawn fest.
And, we're surprised that Maniston is game.
Hasn't she been trying to distance herself from her Friends character Rachel?
Well, an insider reveals, "As the biggest star of the Friends franchise, Jennifer can't help but look at what's happened with Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sex And The City film and be a little jealous. What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again. But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again."
So…'Rachel' is the only thing the Man can do.

I cannot imagine Friends being a movie…HOWEVER…I really don't think Jennifer Aniston has a failing film career. I happened to like her in Along Came Polly and The Breakup. Its not like they were Oscar worthy movies but they were entertaining!
Who would want to see these over-the-hill losers who haven't even done anything successful since leaving the series do a long drawn out movie? If that FUG Aniston wants to do a documentary about how she was stupid enough to let another woman take her man, I'd pay to see that! But this movie? Hell 2 the No! I'm def a little biased –FRIENDS is my fav show. I'd love to see this greenlit, but script would be key. The show really left us at ease with the characters. I think I'd rather see a one hour reunion special in another 5 or 6 years.

I have been waiting for a Friends movie! I would love to see it! And I know all my friends would too (no pun intended). If they have the right script, I think it could be a great idea…if not, then it probably would be pretty boring…but worth it to see whats happening to them now!

FRIENDS RULES! NOT AS MUCH AS SATC THOUGH. The SATC movie kicked ass and I'm not sure if FRIENDS could do as well. I'd definitely go see it! I do afterall, have both shows complete series on DVD.
**Anytime you take a successful sitcom that's been traditionally done with a laughtrack/studio audience and place it in different conditions, it just doesn't play right!** Sex in the City was a good blend of drama and comedy that never used a laughtrack, so it had a better transition to the big screen. And as others have stated, even though the movie wasn't as well written as the series, Sex in the City went off the air after 6 seasons, leaving us wanting more. Thank you HBO! Friends, on the other hand (like most network shows), rode its wave of popularity until there was nothing left to ride. I have no desire to pay to see them in the theater, and I was actually a big fan of the show! But I don't know, we'll see. I just can't help but think the actors are setting themselves up for disappointment.
I just read somewhere that Lisa Kudrow said this story is not true….a shame though, because I think a Friends movie would be great!

I actually find Friends funnier than Sex and the City, so… Plus, Friends ended in 2004. That was only four years ago. I know it seems like more, lol, but it really wasn't. And I don't even like Aniston, I mean, I thought the Ross/Rachel aspect was the most annoying part of the show. I can't believe the writers thought people cared about them. I'd go to see it, depending on the story. I still think Joey's show should have been more like "Extras" from the BBC and it might have stood a chance at success. Instead of him being wildly successful, it should have been more of an exploration into all the small parts he got and THEN have him get a show, they never should have killed off his manager on the show…too bad, I kind of feel like that ship has sailed.
