The British media reports that a Friends movie is in the works.
Apparently, the success of the Sex and the City movie has inspired the crew to get back together and make a flick.
Sounds like wishful thinking to us!
A source says, "Jennifer (Aniston), Courteney (Cox) and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances. The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right. Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions."
The SATC movie promised sexy glitz, glamour and couture on a grander scale than what we saw on TV.
Friends on the big screen sounds like a big yawn fest.
And, we're surprised that Maniston is game.
Hasn't she been trying to distance herself from her Friends character Rachel?
Well, an insider reveals, "As the biggest star of the Friends franchise, Jennifer can't help but look at what's happened with Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sex And The City film and be a little jealous. What's held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again. But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she'd love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again."
So…'Rachel' is the only thing the Man can do.

Personally I disagree. I feel Rachel was a hollow one sided character who got her jollies off with Ross, and then Joey. She was almost as bad as Maggie Wheeler's character "Janice" or as she is less commonly known "Janice Litman Goralnik née Hosenstein", making her way from Chandler to Ross and leaving tiny hits of wanting Joey, as Rachel, or so I feel, always dropped hints about wanting chandler. They made Rachel to linear. They gave her a back story, and kinda left it at that. They didn't even bring her into any jokes from high school (aside from the big nose) like they did with Monica. Through out the entire 10 seasons they were making fat jokes. and even with Chandler, and his non Thanks-Giving attitude. Joey had his acting career to keep him separate from the group, and he and Phoebe had their inside jokes from time to time (my favorite being when they tried to get Ross and Rachel back together). Now don't get me wrong, I think the movie idea would kill the purity of the show, but it could also bring in a spin off. I always thought that they would do something with Frank Jr.

I never watch an episode of either "Friends or Sex and the City" but my take on this is that the shows apparently ran their course and the powers that be felt that both shows had gone as far as they could. The expert felt that there was nothing more to offer and so they canceled. Why go back and try to revive something that was put to rest years ago?

Perez I usually agree with you, but on this you are wrong. Friends is one of the most famous shows in the history of American television. For years people have been requesting a reunion, so for you to predict that it will be horrible has no logic. Also many movies have been made in reaction to another's box office gold. It is hard to pitch movies when there wasn't an example where a TV show could translate to the big screen, so this Sex and the City was the boost they needed to make a Friends movie.
Frankly I am glad Aniston is giving Rachel another go. After playing a role for 10 years who wouldn't blame her for wanting to try new things. She probably has had time to explore more roles and doesn't mind revisiting an old character. So don't give her crap for that.
Give this movie a try before saying it will suck, when all the indicators say it won't. Look at the facts next time Perez!!!!!

Although, I must agree with you Perez, it may be a little lame. If they do have a friends movie, I think they really need to take time and develop a good script, not one that is rushed and put together just to quickly make a movie.
That was the beauty of SATC. People wanted to see what had happened to the characters, how much more they developed…and the film was perfect because it gave just that! It answered the question of what now? and it ended very well. If that was the only SATC movie, then I'm satisfied. I'm not left wondering what happened, but also, they left room to do a sequel if they would wish and they could use a brand new storyline.
Anyway…Friends idea great! Just hope they do the show justice like SATC!
AND…it's about time Jennifer is happy and appreciative with the show that brought her her fame!
