Big Opening, Bigger Disappointment

As you probably know by now, Will Smith seems to own the July 4th weekend for movie releases.
His Independence Day, Men In Black, and Men In Black 2 movies have netted millions over the holiday weekend.
So, it's no shocker that his latest film, Hancock, is out this July 4th as well.
The movie is already off to a good start and its expected to make over $100 mill this weekend.
Unfortunately for all those involved, the movie is getting shiteous reviews!

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was awesome! It was the funniest actionmovie I've ever seen!! And Will Smith is great!
No, and I do really like Will Smith. We saw the trailer at the theater, nothing appealing about it, and those are the clips they feel are the best to draw in a crowd.
i went and saw the movie and i LOVED it ..i thought it was really funny, and will smith is a great actor …the critics are too harsh on some movies and the idea and plot of this movie is really original.
there is no way i would ever sit thru that movie. Can't say I have ever liked a will smith movie

I saw it yesterday, it is was good for what it was! It was no oscar winner, but hancock is a great new superhero. The ONLY NEW superhero in this sea of comic book movies–it is definitely an original. A hero for this generation!
i just saw it and it was really good. jason bateman is so underrated as an actor (can't wait for the arrested development movie), charlize is as awesome as ever and will smith was doing what he does best. and not like anyone cares but the cinematography aka camera angles, close-ups and what not were brilliant.
He will become the only person to have nine movies in a row gross over $100M He is from a goofy tv show and his rap was that old school happy rap at least he is a family man instead of all the Hollywood drunks and druggies fucking everybody but just to be cool and give some cred to your other loyal commenters hes an asshole he thinks hes god fuck off and die Will.
I will go see it. I LOVE Will Smith as an actor everything he has done was good (except Wild Wild West). As long as a movie at least gets a C, then the movie will be good. Besides critics are wrong sometimes. I have seen plenty of movies the critics liked but I hated and vice versa.

Because of the reviews I thought this movie was going to be sucky. However, I went to see it last night and it was good. Yes, it could have been tweeked a little bit for it to be an "OMG It's Amazing" but since the it ended the way it did…. I took it for what it was….Just the beginning!!!!

I never listen to the critics. I have learned that they just don't like the type of movies that I do. I went to see the preview this week and though it was slow at some points it was good. I loved the visuals in this film

i saw this movie yesterday it was depressing and awful i love a good superhero movie this was not one.
Movie critics are a bunch of asses!! I read that review almost right after it was posted, and got really disappointed because i wanted to see the movie really bad. i went anyway, and it was amazingly entertaining! i never saw the twist coming, and i really liked it when it happened. all the people i went with thought the same thing, and at the end of the movie, the packed theater all clapped! so movie critics can suck it.

While they thought it was just OK they didn't trash it much altho even the young picked up the HUGE plot questionmark near the end!

My brother saw it only because he got free passes from a radio station and he said people were laughing at all the wrong parts where it wasn't supposed to be funny. The end is also really stupid and has a huge hole in the plot that makes you irritated that you sat through it.

My friend dragged me to this movie, and I was pleasantly surprised! It's not oscar worthy or anything but I thought it was better than The Hulk. Will Smith's drunken mess superhero character is pretty hilarious for the first half of the movie. And then the end of the movie had enough action in it to keep me interested. Go see it!

That's funny you said that you liked it because when I saw it there were a couple of people who actually booed, which I have never seen at a movie before. Then at the end a LOT of people started booing which was the funniest part of the whole movie (the audience).

It's not his fault! It's the editors' and rating-board's faults, as they have ordered to cut out some of the best scenes in this film, and I mean expencive special effects scenes, in order to achieve PG-13 or lower. Nay I say, I'll wait for the Blu-ray Special Edition… It will be definetely worth it! BTW: have you noticed lately that many scenes in previews and trailers are not shown in the final movie at your local cinema? How deceptive and deceitfull!

I'm not big on spending money to make other people rich so I seldom go to the theatre to watch a movie. Through the power of influence, I found myself in the theatre expecting not to enjoy the movie but I LOVED IT!!! THE MOVIE WAS GREAT. My only critique is I didn't like all the cursing for the kiddies who were in the theatre; I guess it's just our culture going down the drain. How does mom or dad say, "No, we're not going to watch that movie that's been marketed your way and is posted everywhere we turn." Is PG-13 the new G?

I did not watch I am Legend because I heard that it was boring. Then I saw it on DVD and it was the exact opposite!!! I ain't going to listen to anybody this time. I have seen all of Will Smith's movies and I haven't been dissappointed. He should have won the best actor for Pursuit of Happyness.

You can never listen to the "critics", we saw this movie yesterday on it's opening day and it ROCKED! I loved everything about it, I think Will did an amazing job! I was sad when it ended…I could see this type of movie going into a series on tv. It was totally worth it and when it comes out on dvd, I will definitely buy it! Go see it, I promise you'll love it. Anyone that doesn't love it is obviously just an unsatisfiable grouch.
