Jay Z Screwed Over His Club Workers?

Multimillionaire Jay Z has been sued by current and former employees of his NYC club 40/40, according to reports.
The employees claim they were denied hourly wages and forced to be compensated by customer tips alone.
WTF?
They also assert that they were forced to pay for breaks, spills, and "walkouts" on the job.
The report goes on to say that hundreds of former employees could be eligible to collect on the claims if their case wins in court.
Things aren't looking good for Hova.
The source claims that a federal judge has admitted the club owners violated federal labour laws after reviewing an earnings report for at least two workers who showed they were not paid for overtime at the venue. The judge said, "The record contains corroborating evidence of the allegations."
Such disappointing news.
We always thought of Jay Z as a pretty good guy.

wake up….companies treat all employees like shit now a days. I work for a "fortune 500 company" and make $24 grand before taxes, work 10-12 hr days AND dont get paid overtime unless its approved but they usually "forget." The US is going down bc on greedy, sinful people like JayZ and his company

oh wow, shocking news for the hospitality industry. you make your wages in tips and you pay when a customer walks out. give me a break. this stuff is not new. hourly wages are usually token and 50% of the restaurants/bars i've worked in punish the server for not paying enough attention to the customer and catching them before they dine/drink and dash.
first commandment: Never fuck with the people who bring you booze and food.
thats how itworks in bars and clubs. you get 2.13$ an hour, and those pain checks gett voided to pay taxes. especially when people are tipping on bottle service, your more than compensated usually, but even if your not, thats the risk you face when workin in a bar,

In a way…this doesn't shock me. But lets hear both sides of the story before conclusions are made. It's only fair he tells his side of the story.
Re: Luis – @ #26 - Brits, Aussies and Canadians spell it labour. Canada is part of or "in America', as are Mexico and all of South America. If you mean that's how you spell the word labor in the U.S., then it is. Many Americans spell it labour. In Canada, either are accepted.

That's why they're suing HIM and not his management team. I find it hard to believe that he exists completely ignorant of and remote from his OWN CLUB.

This things happen all the time in the restaurant and bar industry, NOTHING NEW…as for jay-z being blamed, it sucks the real people handling the business on a day to day basis is who should be being blamed, they are the ones who know everything you can't just hate on jay for it..but shame on jay for not paying more attention to his managers..unfortunately this people pop up outtta no where i've worked in the business for 3-4 years and i've seen more managers go than any other place i have worked for. Being a restaurant or bar owner is a hard job if you can't handle the heat then get outta the kitchen…Maybe the restaurant business isn't the type of business jay-z has the time for…i also have been to the 40/40 club in las vegas beautiful place and had a great time there..but they were ridiculosly understaffed felt bad for my waiter you could tell he couldn't handle it thank god the staff helped him out..ended up being a great guy! but enjoyed every minute of being there…to bad the servers probaly didn't,cause thats what makes or breaks a place good staff , good service, good business. Maybe jay and his partners should start looking at the people he is hiring.ITS DA ROC 4 LIFE THO!
