Pete Wentz is talking about Travis McCoy's arrest for assault.
The Fall Out Boy bassist just posted the following on his blog:

The only way to be 'better' than the other party is to not repeat their mistakes, racist slurs are wrong, so is physical abuse. Let's hold a panel and decide which one we think is worse? By resorting to a crime, Travis has made himself a hypocrite - that's too bad, he should have let his outrage stand alone without confusing the issue and making it THIS debate. Travis should just own to the fact that what he did was wrong, not justify it. After all 'justification is just like masturbation, you're only screwing yourself'.
Mr. Wentz can acknowledge that he's hurt his friend had to endure that type of insensitive speech, but to condone his behavior is a poor president for everyone. If I am offended by one of the lyrics to one of your songs Mr. Wentz, can I beat Ashley with a microphone?

People are confusing issues here. If we don't feel like Travis was RIGHT for beating someone in the head because he was called an ignorant, racist name, doesn't mean that we feel like the audience member was right for calling him that. Personally I think it's ridiculous when ANYONE uses that term, regardless of race. Still, to me it would have made a better statement had Travis addressed the issue with his words and his mind instead of making HIMSELF a criminal.
