And, we were VERY very impressed with her performance!
Not only can Demi actually sing live but she also sounds good and was playing the piano!

Ok do not even tell me this girl can sing! I was just at a Jonas Brothers concert on Sunday night, and she opened for an hour, and was practically getting booed. SHE SUCKED! People were actually leaving the concert while she was singing. She is horrible live, and won't be anything without the Jonas Brothers. The Jonas Brothers, of course, ROCKED!
I wouldn't go asfar as calling her a brown-haired Christina (let's face it Christina is in a class all her own!) but Demi is very good for a 15-year-old, and as of right now, better than Miley, though she lacks the edge that Miley has in her voice. I'm still waiting for Selena Gomez, who I hope beats out both of them!

So I've not a big fan of the Disney Channel at all. They keep milking Hannah Montana as much as they can. I can't even go to Walmart without seeing Hannah merch everywhere! It's sickening. A couple of my friends are like obsessed with Camp Rock and they wanted me to watch it so I did. I'll be honest it wasn't that good. I mean the story line was so cliche. You know, girl lies about who she is so she can fit in, she ditches her friends for the popular peeps, the popular chick finds out she's not who she says she is, everyone hates her when they find out and the guy won't talk to her anymore, and then they have the finale and the guy forgives her and then that's the end. I've seen that story line so many times it's ridiculous. Disney needs new material.
Well anyways, the only thing about that movie that stood out to me was Demi. It seemed to me that there was more to her then what Disney decides to show. She actually has talent. But she doesn't strike me as "Disney material". She's not like preppy and shit. Hopefully Disney won't change her. She's a different person then what they show on Camp Rock. Some little kids freak out because "her makeup's too dark!". lol it's hilarious. So yeah, best of luck to her.

Demi is pretty good, but Miley is quite a bit more technically advanced vocally. Miley's vocal ability has grown by leaps and bounds, and she is astoundingly good for her age. It's surprised me, frankly. Keep going, Miley. Nice job, Billy Ray.

I agree completely with Perez. Miley is not very good. Demi is an amazing talent. She can sing super good and she can act. And shes just likable. Miley comes off as being a bitch. The only thing going for her is that she can act. Shes not as good as everyone makes her out to be. Demi deserves to have her star rise.

If you judged all music artists today on their ability to sing live, half of them wouldn't be selling any albums at all. Face it; that's what professional recording does. It makes you sound better than you actually are so that when you actually do sing live, you sound horrible compared to your recordings.
It's horrible, but a lot of the time, it's about image.
Why does Disney or the Corporate Music Machine think that some girl who is vaguely cute but sings like she's hyperventilating equals talent? Same old same old. Wake me up when the major labels spontaneously combust.
She is very young, but she has not been trained. As many already said, her technique is off: she has phrasing, breathing, and pitch issues. If she works with her vocal coach a little more, there could really be good talent. But, I blame the music industry. All the digital work is ridiculous. Hopefully, talent will prevail in this terrible business.

Demi Lovato is an amazing singer. But, she isn't used to singing everyday/twice a day like she is now. Her voice is trying to get used to performing nearly every day of the week, that's why she's a little flat.
Her spic friend Selena Gomez is prob so jealous of her. A few months ago Selena was the more famous one because of her Wizards of Mexico show, but now Demi is more famous because of Camp Rock!

so i finally sat down and watched this clip. i think she did good. her runs were good and i didn't hear her get off pitch but a few times. ya'll need to quit sippin that haterade for real. it's not easy at all to sing live because you're heavily relying on your own voice and not the studio equipment to perfect your pitch and your volume for you. give her a break. a lot of singers….A LOT…sound like shit on stage.
