According to a new report, the May issue of Vogue with Gwyneth Paltrow on the cover is the mag's worst seller of the year so far.
It only sold 310,000 newsstand copies.
Vogue averages around 450,000 copies sold at newsstand per issue.
What was it about this Gwyneth cover that didn't resonate with people???
Is it her??? The picture??? All of the above???

I think you have a crush on her hubby, and he turned your chub azz down….so you have turned on him, and you are so jealous of her…she is a diva-not you!
For me, its the "whole" kit & kaboodle, so to speak. The picture itself is horrifyingly fake, and her blatant disregard for her "native" country, as well as being a total blue-blood bleeding heart lecturing everyone. And frankly, her star is fallen…

I don't think it's anything with her. She just looks weird on the cover it's not very welcoming. I think they could have chose a better picture, and how come everyone is bashing on Perez if you hate him so much stay off his sight.
The problem with Gwyneth is her own perception of herself. In her elitist mind she is stylish, beautiful and sexy but in reality she's actually plain, boring and graceless. Have you ever seen her walk? She is no runway model. I think the Vogue reader and the world can see through her shallowness.
Ana Wintour of Vogue seems to have a good relationship with her and that is why she always gets the cover of Vogue. There are many true beauties out there like Christy Turlington, Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron who much more suitable Vogue cover girls.
This broad only appeals to designer fags and uppity bitches. Nobody else cab stand her.

Other than the fact that she is vapid, the styling and retouching are unattractive. They chose a shitty picture to put on the cover.
I think she looks very mona lisa. she not smiling but shes not frowning! she is very blah in the picture. We already know she beautiful and she is put in a situation were she looks like some high society snob, which most people who buy the mag find very unattractive. Its almost degrading.
It's her! What exactly is this woman famous for? Being blonde? Being Blythe Danner's daughter? Sleeping with Brad Pitt? It certainly must be one of those or all of the above because it certainly isn't for her beauty or her acting abilties.

I work as a nanny for one of Gwyneth's dear friends and I was told by my employer that she (Gwyn) hated the picture of her on the Vogue cover and that we could totally laugh at it, if we wanted! She said she hated it and that it doesn't even look like her. Says she gets the final word on all photos being used but not on this one! So even Gwyneth dislikes the picture!

Never really feel the need to post a comment but this post made me somewhat annoyed. I know you aren't particularly fond of Gwenyth, which is fine, but I do enjoy her as an actress, especially in Sliding Doors, and these idiots at Vogue can't blame her for the lack of sales. LOOK at the cover of Vogue again. Honestly… the tag lines on the cover are, Medical Mistakes, Adoption, and DNA??? C'mon this is VOGUE.. not Newsweek! Just had to put that out there.

I usually buy Vogue every month but skipped this issue because I thought the editorials were crap. Nothing to do with Gwyn or the cover photo~
Good actress, but she comes across very holier than thou in interviews most of the time.

I actually saw her in the sound booth at a Coldplay concert. Only a few people actually saw her, so there was no fuss made at all. I didn't like her snobbish demeanor before the concert, but when she dropped something on the way back to the stage, a man picked it up to give it to her, when she saw it was a "normal" person, she screeched at him to leave her alone, and the body guard pushed him. The man obviously didn't know who she was, and was trying to be nice. BEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOTCH.

It's not Gwyneth….Vogue has gotten quite tired……no more edgy fashion, boring articles and really bad and busy layouts. Their covers are always so over-Photoshopped it's crazy. People always look stiff and fake.

I like Gwyneth, but somehow her head looks odd and overly large on her body here. WTF did they do in the photoshop? It looks weird, and herhead is just not sitting right. It's too big and with too forward placement or something.
I agree with Milou. The magazine is ridiculously expensive. Why would I want to pay over $5 (living in Canada) just to read ads? I also find the topics listed on the cover are pretty dull. We've all read articles similar to those a gazillion times! Enough already!
The art direction, wardrobe, makeup and photo are all terrible. It looks amatureish and not glamourous at all. I think Gweneth is georgeous, but she doesn't look it in this pic…….I blame this on the magazine.

It didn't sell because of the clothes she's wearing. That looks like a winter holiday issue NOT a spring/ summer issue. Vogue should know better. The whole color scheme is too cool. It should have been in warm colors.

I grabbed this magazzine at a supermarket. It was so amazingliy thin!! What, are they going to give me ten lousy pages for almost 5 dlls?? I still like Vogue. My economy is not great this year, but a mag won't break me…unless I believe I'm getting very little material for my money. I'll buy the next one, regardless of the cover girl, if they give me a fuller issue.
gwenyth exudes over-confidence and i honestly think shes pretentious and that turns people off. not to mention she's bland, looks wise. she may be a great actress but i dont think that means she should be on the cover of vogue.

I can't really tell what is in the background of the photo, but it appears she is leaning on a prop from Star Wars.

I think it is because there is something about her that makes you want to YAWN! Cannot quite place it… She is just lacking some kind of spark or warmth and always seems to be so self-centered and self-important. The "I Simplify Everything" title for her article doesn't help. My reaction: Good for you - who cares?! Whenever you hear her quoted, it’s always all about Gwynnie - "I think this. I feel that. I, I, I… Me, Me, Me…" (The cover is also incredibly ugly, and doesn't do her justice at all.)

Less and less people are looking to a print publication for info……Why spend $5 on a magazine in a bad economy (still making over 120k personally) when you can see the info you want to see on the net for free? I have been a loyal Vogue reader for over 15 years….not too impressed with the magazine lately…where is the high fashion? Looking more and more like a lame cosmo mag!!! I will watch the fashion shows online and probabally discontinue my subscription when it runs up next month-
