Canadian rockers Nickelback are the latest musicians to get Live Nation-ed.
Why????
They suck so hard!
According to a new report, Nickelback's worldwide contract with Live Nation will cover three touring and album cycles, with an option for a fourth.
The deal also gives Live Nation rights to Nickelback recordings, DVDs, merchandise and endorsements.
No numbers were revealed.
BUT, the band's last tour, sold more than 1.5 million tickets and grossed more than $67 million.
WTF?
We just can't believe so many people paid to see them play 'music'.
Maybe it was a fluke that the band did so well?
Unlike Madonna or U2, we don't think the Nation has a "sure thing" with this investment!

How are you going to diss Nickelback?? Nickelback is bigger than U2 ever was in the US! Get it right. Look at how many records they have sold. I personally went to one of their concerts and it was SOLD OUT with 25k+ people at it. Nickelback is one of the most well known alternative bands out there with great music. I personally hate U2 and Madonna.. they are both 80's has beens. And if PEREZ actually realized what was going on in current pop culture he would know that most people could care less about Madonna and her drama.

I was disappointed that they appeared before a Bon Jovi concert I attended a few years ago.
I was pleasantly surprised; they really rock in concert — they sound infinitely better than they do on the radio. They're much less of a pop-sounding band…

I hate to admit it, but you are completely ignorant on this Perez - do you ever read actual news? CNN did a big story on nickelback four years ago because the critics hate them and nobody cares and they make millions and millions of dollars every year in album and concert sales. This is probably the safest investment Live Nation has made or ever will made, much safer than Queen Madge by the looks of it. It might be beneficial for you to pay attention to actual news once in awhile…

I saw a concert last summer in Toronto and they actually really rocked it out, it probably had the best pirotechnics I've ever seen in a concert and they really get the crowd into it!

enough hateration on Nickelback. We took our kids to see them in Indy last summer. They put on a rockin entertaining show that was edgy enough for us and not XXX rated for our 11 and 13 yr olds. I'd see them again in a heartbeat.

Nickelback is actually more of a sure thing than Madonna at this point! They've sold more albums since 2000 than any other artist in the world, that's an eight-year fluke. They're popular all over the world, their tours sell tickets, and they continue to mentor and bring along younger acts — bet LiveNation will get a piece of that pie as well.
Say what you will about their music, they're successful when many acts are failing, and Chad has been a smart smart businessman throughout his career.

Anything Madonna post 1999 is ridiculously horrible, and she has pretty much divorced herself from the music that MADE HER FAMOUS i.e. "Vogue", "Like a Virgin". Thank God Nickleback plays a little bit from ALL albums. People, especially die-hard fans, enjoy listening to the old stuff just as much as the new. It makes you feel like you've always been a part of that band/artist from the beginning when they perform the "oldies" so-to-speak.
