Almost 12 years after the death of 6 year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, new findings have finally cleared the family's name!
Prosecutors were able to clear JonBenet's parents and older brother Wednesday for the unexplained killing.
According to the district attorney Mary Lacy, new DNA tests point to an unidentified outsider.
Lacy wrote in a letter to JonBenet's father, John, "To the extent that we may have contributed in any way to the public perception that you might have been involved in this crime, I am deeply sorry. No innocent person should have to endure such an extensive trial in the court of public opinion."
Yea, it's a little TOO late for sorries from her.
Why did it take this long to clear their name?!?!
According to Lacy, it was the new "touch DNA" tests that were done on skin cells left behind on JonBenet's long underwear that point to a third party and not a family member.
As for John Ramsey, he remains hopeful that the killer will now be found thanks to the new DNA evidence.
He says, "I think the people that are in charge of the investigation are focused on that, and that gives me a lot of comfort. Certainly we are grateful that they acknowledged that we, based on that, certainly could not have been involved."
Unfortunately for JonBenet's mother, Patsy, she never lived to be cleared of her name. Patsy passed away in 2006 at the age of 49 due to ovarian cancer.
An attorney for the Ramsey's said, "My first thought was obviously I wish Patsy Ramsey was here with us to be able to at least share vindication of her family. There are many people in this country, if not around the world, that also owe John and Patsy Ramsey and Burke Ramsey an apology."
Despite the fact that police found a drop of blood on JonBenet's underwear that matched it to the DNA of a male not belonging to the family, prosecutors argued that they were unable to determine where that blood came from or that it was even the killer's.
But now the new touch DNA tests taken from the sides of JonBenet's long underwear matched that of the original blood DNA found years ago.
Hopes are that one day they can find a DNA match in the expanding national DNA databank.
Let's hope they find the killer as soon as possible.
The family deserves some rest and millions of apologies.

WHILE IT PROVES THAT ONE OF THE PARENTS DID NOT PHYSICALLY KILL HER, IT DOES NOT PROVE THAT THEY WERE NOT INVOLVED.
There was no physical evidence of an intruder breaking into the house, which means that SOMEONE LET HIM IN.
Also, Jon Benet had physical vaginal trauma that dated to MONTHS and possibly YEARS before her murder, PROVING that she was sexually abused for a significant amount of time.
Just because they didn't deliver the blow that killed her does not mean that they are "cleared."

I have read several books on the murder by the original investigators and followed the case for many years. I will always believe the mother cracked her head accidentally in an argument and tried to cover it up by strangling her with the item from her paint kit and staging a botched kidnapping. Too much evidence against her- just a poorly handled case. Still very sad and only my opinion.

I am so glad that the Ramseys' name was finally cleared. I never believed that this family murdered their beautiful daughter they loved so much. It's tragic that Patsy isn't alive for this. The Ramseys have suffered more than any family ever should; hopefully they can live a private, (relatively) happy life for now on.

Aside from all the actual FACTS that arrived to us (yes, via the media, just like this one) at various points in time since the initial crime was committed, there is something I very vividly recall every time I'm reminded of this tragedy. In every interview, news spot, or photo I saw of the parents', their eyes were dead. I mean, no emotion, no pain, no anger, no sadness - especially from the father. One could argue that they were completely empty after the dead of their daughter, but I'm sorry - those eyes said "sociopath" to me. And all the other sketchy actions on their part that have been mentioned still stand as well.
Also, rapists and pedophiles (particularly those who "get away" with an extremely high-profile crime like this one) rarely just stop. The fact that this DNA evidence has not produced results (meaning the donor is not in prison and is not wanted for any other US crimes) supports the already mentioned story that the skin cells are from the seamstress or textile maker who produced the PJs in another country.

I will go to my grave believing that the family had something to do with this murder. How can a child be murdered in his/her own bedroom- with family sleeping- be carried to a basement- and no one heard a thing- and NO ONE yet been charged with this murder-after all these years?

The touch dna MATCHED the blood dna found in JB's underwear back in the day. This rules out the touch DNA being from one of the investigators who touched the underwear while processing the crime scene. The DNA did not match anyone in the family. There was someone else in the house messing with JB that night.
That said, it still doesn't prove the parents had nothing to do JB's death. We live in a fucked up world, and unfortunately, it isn't out of the range of possibility that someone in the family was involved in a pedo sex ring for rich monsters. Look at the pedo sex ring sick fuck who recently killed his neice, Brooke Bennett, in Vermont. Sick shit like this DOES happen. He intended to trade his own neice to other pedo monsters. Personally, I don't want to believe this is the case for the Ramseys, but we can't rule it out just because it offends our sane sensibilities. The fact is, the family DID act suspiciously.

I'm from Boulder and the parents are still guilty. The investigation was a joke. THERE IS NO REASON to explain why the parents wanted to fly out of CO within in few days of her death. If it were my daughter I would be parked out at the police station every morning until they nabbed someone. I wouldn't balk at DNA tests, handwriting tests, etc. They were definitely hiding something…we will never know.

if u read the crime info, it appears that Patsy was involved with selling JonBenet pics to porn ring. the photographer she used would be my first guess at the DNA link. Evidently, the tying of her hands above her head was a common "shot". I'd also run more DNA tests on everyone that came through the house for the Christmas party. they only said DNA tests cleared the family.

JonBenet was killed in Boulder and the Boulder police were the ones who fucked up by not properly securing the crime scene. This case has been bizarre from the get go. I never believed at all that the parents or brother were involved. I think they went through hell and back, losing their little girl, and then living so long under a cloud of suspicion. Even her brother was sometimes looked at with suspicion.
I wish Patsy was alive to see her family vindicated. But she and her family loved each other and supported each other. If the cruelty of the media and many members of the public made their lives miserable, at least they had each other.

I was watching Nancy Grace last night and I dont care what anyone says or what new DNA tests show - Patsy Ramsey had to know something. Reason: JB was molested repeatedly before and up to her death. She was only what 6 years old, mothers are still washing and helping to clean their baby girls at that age and she didnt know? Please They didnt find her til 6 hours later that "DNA" could have come from anywhere. That ransom note written in their house was too damn long for any to be worried about being caught.
