This is crazy.
Reports are surfacing that the new Warner Bros Batman film, Dark Knight, is set to have a record-breaking weekend.
Sources are estimating that the film will bring in around $130 million for its opening 3-day weekend.
And, when it opens, next Friday, is not even a holiday weekend! Even more impressive!
However, WB is trying to lower expectations, suggesting that the film might "only" make $90 million due to increased competition now as opposed to the beginning of May.
ONLY $90 million? That's still a damn lot!
And, as we mentioned last month, pre-sales for the film are selling out quickly!
We've already scored our tix for opening night at one of the Imax theaters in L.A. Yay!!!!
Additionally, inside sources are telling PerezHilton.com exclusively that the opening weekend for the
Batman sequel could bring in about $150 million or more. That's record breaking!
And, despite the fact that the movie is a bit longer than usual, at 2 hours and 32 minutes, theater managers are trying to by-pass the problem by adding late and round-the-clock screenings during its debut on July 18th.
So the main question is, Will U go watch Dark Knight on its opening weekend?
(Duh, the answer is yes.)

i can't even begin to explain how much heath ledger's death saddened and shocked me, he was and still is my favorite actor. He had such talent, and his talent was so beyond his years.
as much as i wish he didn't have to had die, this is an amazing movie for him to "go out on"
i really hope that he gets the oscar, he more than beyond deserves it.
i already have my tickets .. 1:30 am IMAX showing, can't wait!

For some of us who are huge fans of Heath, it will be really hard to do, but I intend to be there opening night for the first of several screenings. This is Heath's last full length feature film. The Terry Gilliam movie that he was shooting at the time of his death was completed by Johnny Depp, who Heath adored, and by Colin Farrell and Jude Law, both of whom were his friends. His last complete film role is The Dark Knight. I want to do this for him.

Don't they cut some material out for imax if it's a certain length past capacity for the film tray? I heard that for Harry Potter or something….

This fucking movie is going to go through the fucking roof.Although he was a greay actor it was the drugs that put him in this state of mind. My friends partied with him and Mary Kate and they were into some strange shit. He became this character and it scared him. You never seen anybody get into a character like this. I dont party anymore but before we go to see ot we are going to get completely stoned and get the shit scared out of us. The studio has no idea that this movie will shatter many records. His last performance. Just say no to drugs wxcept next weekend. So many people will have nighmares. Huge Huge Halloweem mask in the fsll. Going to a Mamma Mia screening this week so hope that opening is huge, too. But I wouldn't miss The Dark Knight, even tho' I missed the 3rd Batman.
Once again, this is the movie company using the media to create hype for a movie - and it works!

I am only going to see it to support Heath Ledger and help make his movie number one and a huge success. I am not into batman crap but he was, and always will be one hell of an actor and truely missed by his fans.

I think it is funny that the movie is doing THIS well. If Heath were still alive, does anyone think it would be this big?
