As we mentioned last month, tension is high at Grey's Anatomy ever since Katherine Heigl's "snub" at the show by withdrawing her name from consideration for the upcoming Emmys.
The show had worked around her busy film schedule, tried to accommodate her, and she ended up saying her role wasn't worth the nomination.
That, obviously, has left many people at the show upset.
And, now, there are rumors that producers might be kicking Katie off the show!
According to reports, even the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, may be considering killing off Heigl's role as Dr. Izzie Stevens.
An insider says, "It's not good there. Shonda is pissed. They're thinking of killing her off. They want Izzie dead."
Might as well.
She doesn't even appreciate her role!
This is probably what Heigl wanted all along. With her acting career getting stronger with her hit movies, many have speculated for some time that she wanted out of her contract with the show.
Maybe they should screw her over and keep her on!
But they should give her really shitty lines and hardly any air time!

ABC and Heigl's reps have declined to comment.
And Shonda's rep only said, "I haven't heard anything about that."

I think this has been blown way out of proportion. I personally love her character and if she is killed off I don't think I will still like Grey's Anatomy. It will just leave a big hole. Honestly this sounds like something to just cause a rift when there probably is no problem at all

This makes me upset. Just because she said she didn't have enough/good material this year, doesn't mean she isn't appriciative of the show and writers. Thats good that she withdrew her name because a lot of the time, Emmy Awards are about popularity, not the actual reel they submit. Daytime actors as well, will not submit thier name if they had no storyline that year because that gives others who had a lot of story, a chance to be recognized. People should understand that and stop treating her like she isn't thankful of the show.

The cast got too big, and the story lines got ridiculous…Izzie and George doesn't even make sense together, Meredith and McDreamy are just like making up problems…and there a lot of new ppl who just suck at life and bring nothing interesting. I loved the show until this season, now it is terrible.
She is right to criticize it and I think it shows integrity to withdraw from the Emmys. Make room for ppl that had to actually act in their roles, and who had decent roles written for them. Shonda should just be pissed at herself for letting her show go to shit.

This is so completely silly. The girl simply felt she didn't deserve a nomination, not because the writing was bad, just that her character on the show was not at the forefront this season. Everyone needs to relax. I don't even buy this who "tension on the set" business. It's all rumors and hype. To be honest, that show needs her more than she needs it. They should wise up and write her some killer stuff this season since she is the one all the viewers want to watch!!

Kicking her off would be a big mistake - the only reason I started watching Grey's again at the end of the fourth season was because of her. She's their greatest asset, esp. since meredith started getting fuglier

shes a great actress. greys was incredibly boring in season 4 (all the buzz died) and izzies lack of good storylines was probably partly to blame! to shonda: keep her on and give her better material, if you want your show Greys to survive!!

Shonda is so freaking self righteous. KH is right, her material did not warrent her submitting for the emmy. And it's no big deal. The show has a lot of talent, it can't always be about the character of Izzy. I think she should stay, I wouldn't enjoy the show as much without her.
If they are going to kill off Izzie i'm going to be really pissed + the ratings will drop. If Katherine thinks that the writers didn't gave her great material to work on Grey's Anatomy she should have said something about it and i'm happy she did. if someone wasn't happy about their own work on a show and he or she won an award for it, i don't think they would have been happy about it because there are other actors that maybe deserved it more. i think more actors should do that what Katherine did this year.

Heigel changed the direction of character by not keeping her big mouth shut when the 'slur' incident occurred. We all had opinions and were offended and yes TR is her friend, but she kept bringing it up by adding her 2 cents whenever a camera or mic were present.
It's quite clear that Heigl thinks she is better than the show now after a few hit movies and is trying to get let go or be fired. I can't stand her as an actress anymore, so much so that I haven't seen any of her recent movies, nor do I plan to. I think her ego and attitude are pathetic and there is no reason to be acting like the deva b***h she is being and biting the hand the fed her like someone mentioned earlier.
I would LOVE to see Shonda keep Heigl on the show and keep her character on this well earned decline for the duration of her contract, I think it's just what the Dr. ordered. Maybe Heigl will realize she should be grateful for the open doors Grey's has given her and fall off her pedestal.

I don't think Katherine 'cares' if she is kicked off or if SHE decides to leave. She is a beautiful and talented actress that has done pretty well at the box office. Her heart is in making 'movies', not Grey's Anatomy. I believe she will resign from G-A anytime. They need her more than she needs them IMHO.

Let's face it - Grey's suffered from poor writing and storyline development. Heigl specifically named the episode where she rescuciated a DEER! SERIOUSLY - a medical drama… and anyone who honestly thought that the characters of Izzie and George would make watchable television was seriously deluded. I'm with her. The show has been inconsistent for the last season or so and it's been obvious to the viewers.
If she wants to leave - let her. If she stays, stop developing lame spinoffs and get back to the solid storylines that the first and second season became famous for. The Erica Hahn/Callie drama is the most interesting thing going on in the show these days… forget Meredith and Patrick Dempsey!

Maybe she SHOULD leave. Instead of considering her statement and working together to rectify or improve her story line, they seem to be unable to take any constructive criticism and are acting like a bunch of offended junior high clique types, treating her as an outsider and giving her the cold shoulder. I think she NEEDS to get out of there at this point, so she can work with some grown ups. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. She's young and as such not yet fully schooled in diplomacy, but the heart of her statement should have been heard rather than her naive delivery if they cared anything at all about her as a person. She broke out with success, and this treatment appears to me to be a small minded form of levelling, and nothing more. She's beautiful if not inexperienced regarding outspokeness.

This is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. Katherine shouldn't be punished for speaking her mind (and telling the truth!). Her material this past year was good, but certainly not worthy of a nomination. Personally, I would feel horrible to accept a nomination for something that I'm not 100% proud of. So I get where she's coming from. And in regards to the way she worded everything, you have to understand something. It's freaking Katherine Heigl. She has an opinion about anything and everything and she's not afraid to state it. If anyone knows this, it's the staff at Grey's. They need to get some freaking perspective here and understand where she's coming from. She wasn't withdrawing her name just to spite them.
