According to reports, the illustrator, artist Barry Blitt, "satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail Barack Obama’s campaign.”
We think it's adding fuel to the fire, though. There are some people out there who will think that it's Michelle and Barack who are being satirized.
It just seems to reinforce the inaccurate shizz that's always attributed to the Obamas.
Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said in a statement, “The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."
A McCain mouthpiece said, “We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive.”
We bet the Republicans are LOVING this, though!
To make things fair we think the New Yorker should feature a McCain 'satire' on the cover too.

I fine The New Yorker's cover satire of the Obamas as offensive and leave a very narrow perception open to continue interpretative character assignation. It's a double canon. I comprehend the point The New Yorker was trying to make, but at the same time it's adding fuel to an already explosive topic. Unfortunately, many people will only look at the cover and not read the article to fully comprehend the cover’s satire, which leaves the picture as being its only source for interpretation. I cannot help but think perhaps The New Yorker has its own personal agenda to promote such propaganda. This is extremely unfair to the presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee.
