Doing controversial shit just to get attention and sell magazines - smart or desperate?????
According to reports, the illustrator, artist Barry Blitt, "satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the Presidential election to derail Barack Obama’s campaign.”
We think it's adding fuel to the fire, though. There are some people out there who will think that it's Michelle and Barack who are being satirized.
It just seems to reinforce the inaccurate shizz that's always attributed to the Obamas.
Obama spokesperson Bill Burton said in a statement, “The New Yorker may think, as one of their staff explained to us, that their cover is a satirical lampoon of the caricature Senator Obama's right-wing critics have tried to create. But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And we agree."
A McCain mouthpiece said, “We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive.”
We bet the Republicans are LOVING this, though!
To make things fair we think the New Yorker should feature a McCain 'satire' on the cover too.

Oh Jesus. I wasn't the fan of the Hilary and Obama in bed together cover either, but at least that was satire. People whine that Bush was lampooned in that magazine for eight years (ten, if you count before he was elected), but it was mostly laughing at things he actually said and did, not things people accused him off; I don't remember a cover of Bush high-fiving Osama Bin Laden while they look at the Time's 9/11 cover or anything. And if they did make fun of his hillbilly upbringing or cowboy persona, it's only because it was one he was trying to promote. (Boy was born and raised in Connecticut, come on now.)

The New Yorker says it will also do a cover on John McCain bet it won't feed into the fear of white America. Fox news has never depicted Barack or his wife in the way the New Yorker has above. I am a registered Independent and it annoys me that so many are so anti-Fox news. Many news organizations speak from the mind set and point of view of a Democrat. Fox news more often speaks from the Republican side. Both parties are representative of the American people and both sides deserve to be represented in television news outlets.

Why the bash of Fox News? I find them to be the only news channel that I can watch to get both sides of the isle's opinions. I'm interested in only the facts: Not of someone's age or if they are flip-flopping. CNN is good, but obviously leans towards the left; MSNBC is so obviously left and the reporting is nothing short of laughable and I feel that they insult the viewer; On Fox, although some of the commentators obviously lean towards the right, they frequently seem to have guests from both sides and this is refreshing. Just because you call yourself a demo or rep, you should still still vote for who you feel will do the best job for our country and how you could help them. I do find this cover very distasteful and I believe many out there would know that the New Yorker is just trying to sell magazines and not provide any information.
