It's beyond recession, we are heading into depression. Many more banks are expected to close. And Bush, Cheney and company keep getting richer.

When people stop buying American this is what happens dumb ass. All those losers buying Kia's and Hondas are the cause of this. BUY AMERICAN!
GM has been cutting jobs for the last 3 years, by the thousands. This is not new news.
I come on this sight to sort of escape reality and get the lowdown on Hollywood. You guys are not legitimate reporters, you are gossip whores! Stop posting things about the presidential campain, the economy, etc.

my husband works for chrysler and will be layed off as of october 31st. he's been there for 14 years! buy american everything!!!!!!! don't give in to foreign owned businesses. our anheuser busch is now foreign too. st. louis is taking a real hit!
Bush's greatest blunders have been; ignoring Greenspan and Bernake when they said these high risk mortgages were going to crush the banking industry and our economy, getting into a no win war, and refusing to admit that we are in a recession. The current regime still wont admit we are in a recession. What more do they need to see? I guess because the super rich aren't affected by the recession it really doesn't matter. They just refuse to admit their mistakes and call everyone that doesn't buy their bullshit unpatriotic. I for one am sick of it, and I cannot believe anyone would still defend the shrub. God help us all.
Its clear they will revive themselves once they the Volt electric car available to the public ! WTF is taking them sooo long~
It's sad to watch American companies crumble. Last week, St. Louis lost it's claim to fame - the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which makes Budweiser and the rest of the gang - to foreign beer company In-Bev. So expect more layoffs and sadly, expect an American company to be ran by Europeans, whose money simply is more lucrative than ours.

Re: Kim – Not gonna happen. GM is not for sale, is not gonna get bought out and for certain will not shut its Chevy plants. They again are the biggest sellers. They are cutting back production on thier trucks and SUVs. But not shutting. Chevy is making the Volt!

I love watching Americans scream and yell at each other over their economy like they know what they're talking about. Not saying all of you are dickheads…but a lot are.
Fact is the US IS on it's way into a recession and if you do any research OFF perezf-inghilton.com and Fox News sites, you will see just how it's happened. The US dollar has sat pretty for years and now it's worth so little that not even street vendors in foreign countries want it. Costs of living are soaring, you have foreclosure on houses everywhere and Fanny Mae's stock to a 50% drop last week.
Stop ranting about 'buying American' cars and shit. It's way too late to start getting behind your consumer industries. Most manufacture off shore anyway.
Like it or not, there's a new 'superpower' on it's way and it's name is China.
We can thank the evil greedy Unions for this. They have been slowly sucking the life out of the auto industry for years.
It also doesn't help when you build shitty cars.
1 - abolish labor unions, then maybe GM can afford to stay in the game.
2 - if you expect people to buy American, then at least give them quality and relevant products. GM has not made a decent product for decades.
3 - because of the collapse of American auto makers, Detroit is a cesspool. Every major corporation in Michigan revolve around American autos. As GM, Chrysler & Ford continue to fail, people continue to lose their jobs, benefits, pensions, insurance, etc. Detroit is #2 in the nation for the number of homeless citizens and unemployment rate. Only post-Katrina New Orleans beats Detroit in these unwanted touts of notariety.
