Economy sucks! (even though its "growing") With cost rising everything from daycare, housing, utilities, groceries and gas me and my family barely survive! We live in the ghetto for cheaper housing but with jobs making mroe than twice the minimum wage we still cant get ahead. Us poor and middle class people need a break or to win the damn lottery! Its depressing…

George W. Bush went to Harvard..
where did you go perez? NYU..?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure it's a well known fact that Harvard is clearly a better school. AND.. the last quarter our economy DID grow. you dumb fuck. get your facts straight.

Oh, and maybe you should get some respect. It's okay to insult people like Heidi Montag.. But it's not okay to call the President of the United States dumb. It's inconsiderate and completely inappropriate. Democrat, Republic, Independent.. regardless, presidents put 8 years of their own personal life aside to accomodate you. And this is how you repay them? How dare you. You fat-ass ungrateful bastard.

Are you aware, Perez, that you have non liberal fans who have contributed to your fame and fortune over the past few years? Or that your constant and distasteful hatred of all things conservative is a major turnoff to independents and conservatives alike? I'm tired of the hatred that permeates your site. I'm a non liberal person who is open-minded and respectful of others, regardless of their political affiliations. You have every right to express you own opinion, especially on your own website, but I am also free to boycott your site. I was a faithful and supportive fan of yours for a very long time but I do not want to come to your site and be offended anymore, so I won't return. Goodbye, Perez, and good luck in the future.

Don'cha just love the Republican inability to accept accountability, or even REALITY??? It's the same old, tired tactic. Just repeat the lies, over and over again, and hopefully the gullible, diehard base will believe it!

    Hey Republicans, repeat after me:
THE ECONOMY IS JUST FINE AND DANDY, AND EVEN IF IT WASN'T, IT CERTAINLY ISN'T THE FAULT OF THE MAN WHO'S BEEN PRESIDENT FOR THE PAST EIGHT YEARS!!!

    Or, try this one:
WE'RE WINNING IN IRAQ, IN FACT, WE'VE ALREADY WON! FORGET ABOUT ONE MILLION DEAD IRAQIS, THE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS IT'S COSTING, AND THE FACT THAT THIS POINTLESS WAR WAS BASED ON LIES! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

    There…now doesn't that feel better?

Anyone with a 9th grade education knows it's "you're" as in you are.

GW might not be the smoothest communicator in the world, but he is highly educated and smarter than 90% of the world population.

How is it that uneducated bafoons call a highly educated/highly successful person stupid? You can say he says dumb things or sounds stupid, but he is smarter/richer/ and much more successful than 99% of you!!!

Quit blaming George Bush for your woes! It's not his fault you're eating Ramen Noodles and bread crumbs for supper. Get off your ass and do something about it!

I have only a high school diploma. I worked every low level job in the world when I was younger: laborer/garbage man/telemarketer/office clerk. But I did not sit and wait for my "handout" I worked hard, married an intelligent woman, and made a solid life for myself.

I just turned 40. I have ZERO debt. I make $150K per yr, and my wife makes $70K. We invest in my 401K and other stock. I paid cash for 2 cars in the last yr ($28 and $30K) Spent $30K cash remodeling my $400K home. And I'm still liquid for over $100K in accessble cash. Plus my investments. Oh, and my inlaws are worth $2M plus that my wife will inherit someday!
Hope you Libs don't take too much of that away in taxes!

We got to this point by being frugal and humble. I still only get $20 a week allowance. Despite making $3-$4K per week commission!

Gotta love AMERICA! The home of successful C students!

Re: DEAN – Dean, I have two children, one autistic, so I know a bit about the real world. My point was most people's misery is of their own making, and they don't want to take responsibility for their situation, which is especially grating on those of us who do try to act like adults and don't expect handouts. Everybody has a run of bad luck now and then, but a lot of people are just spoiled dumb asses. If you're the former and not the latter, my comment wasn't even directed to you.

As for your contention that Dubya is some sort of intellectual giant, you can't be serious! Remember, this is the guy that infamously coined the term, "internetS," and is unable to pronounce the word, "nuclear." He can barely make himself understood in his mother tongue! Bush attended those schools for one reason only: FAMILY CONNECTIONS.
It's the same reason he conveniently jumped the waiting list for the National Guard, and thus avoided fighting in Vietnam. On his pilot aptitude test, he scored in the 25th percentile, the lowest possible passing grade, and also went AWOL. It saddens me to think of deserving candidates passed over in favor of such a dunce.
NONE of Dubya's accomplishments are the result of hard work or merit. He is THE perfect example of just how far someone can go in this country with privilege and the right connections.

America is going down the drain and I saw it coming 10 years ago. We don't manufacture anything, all we offer is financial services which are based on fraud so once that collapses there is nothing left. Our dollar is close to being worthless, our debt is outrageous, our people are uneducated, we have too many illegal aliens that can't even speak our language and who leech off taxpayer money, and worst of all the oil situation is causing massive inflation. Pretty soon none of us will be able afford to live!!! This what greedy corporations outsourcing our entire economy did.

The attitude of republicans is that if you aren't middle class and can't afford a fancy college education you don't matter and should just fall in a hole and die. Black people and poor whites are just a nuisance to them. The people who flip burgers, man the registers at Walmart, clean the floors of their fancy offices and drive cabs are losers and it's all their fault they can't make enough to get by and pay a doctor $600 just to get an antibiotic. They're sociopaths.

It depends where you live. If you live in the Midwest or the South where things are cheap it's easy, if you live in NewYork or Los Angeles forget it. Housing is crazy and you have all these taxes. Most southern states don't even have income or sales tax. Do you know a STARTER home in LA or NY is half a million dollars? Unless you are wealthy you are a renter for life and that ain't cheap either. Rent in NY or LA is $1,200 for a studio.

Doesn't change the fact that the ECONOMY is what effects our family. My trade is building automobiles, Ihave always been a tinker, always curious about the functionality of things that's why I do what I do. When Corporate companies flee out of our countries without regard to the people , hard working people they leave in devastation it makes you think why does te government allow this? with all the breaks and lobbyists corporate America has in its pocket they still rape the working class in the ass with no lubricant, running over seas to find cheaper labor.
My point is, we invested in the american dream, that's what a house is for and to turn around twice in a lifetme and be kicked in the teeth that your promising investment is not worth the land its sitting on is ridiculous. So yes my situation is the government's fault for acting like lap dogs to corporate America. That is why Enron got away with fucken murder.

hes saying that these are uncertain times but that the economy is getting a little better than before, obviously its bad but hes doing what he can to make it better for now. Its totally up to congress anyways, so learn how to pay attention to politics before you start telling the president to suck hairy balls.

What I do not like is reading people taunt other people of their wealth, presumed lack of education etc. I found myself going along with tat till I stepped back and realized this is ME some of these arrogant piss ants are talking about and I am not lazy, doesn't chane the fact I am poor though and thats a sobering thought. 1st…people stop complaining about the economy. Work your ass off and you won't have to worry about it and if you deserve the money, you WILL get it. Believe me. I know someone who didn't go to college, got D's in high school, had a horrible family upbringing, and ended up with the best business in his field all because he worked really hard. You can do the same if you try.

2nd of all…STOP BEING MEAN. Holy crap some things people say about republicans and democrats are horrible. I'm more republican than I am a democrat, but I don't go around bashing democrats heads in with nasty comments just because they have political opinions. Grow up. Just because someone doesn't have the same views as you doesn't mean you should bring them down. Stop and think if what you are saying is really necessary.

I don't think it's America that's fucked up as much as the people. People are just mean and they never want to help each other. They just want to criticize because they want to make themselves feel better. I am 17 and I feel like I have better morals and I've learned more in my life than a lot of people who are twice my age.

This may come as a shock to you, but our elected representatives are supposed to be public servants, employed by the American people. When they screw up as badly as Bush has, it is our patriotic duty to criticize or even fire them! That's the way democracy works…this is not a dictatorship where citizens are required to sing the praises of their leaders, no matter what!
After 8 years of the Bush administration's lies, incompetence and greed, I, and many other Americans have zero respect left for Chimpy and friends. And sorry to break it to you, but lots of folks ARE saying he IS the worst president in American history. Traditional conservatives who still care about values like fiscal responsibility, civil liberties and limited government ought to be absolutely outraged by the damage Bush and his cohorts have done to our country and the Republican Party!

Compared to the healthcare, education, employment oppourtunities, and benefits available there, we in the U.S. have a long way to go! And please, spare us all the false sympathy for people struggling to survive in war-torn, developing nations. It's a little disingenuous, don't you think?

And why do people in Prison (and illegals) get free college education while everyone else has to go into mountains of debt to pay for it? And why is gas $5 a gallon here when it's $1 in Mexico? Doesn't Mexico owe us some free fuel for taking in all their illegals? Just curious!!!

Sorry Hans, but Dubya's forays into the private sector as an "oil man" are laughable failures. Google Arbusto (Spanish for Bush), Spectrum 7 Energy, and Harken Energy to see what I mean.
The first two ventures failed with Bush as CEO, in spite of investments and bailouts from Daddy's rich friends, while at Harken, Bush was eventually eased out of management duties and accused of SEC violations. When it comes to economics, Dubya's specialty is corporate malfeasance!

You mean Congress? Let's not forget that they are responsible for making or breaking us with their bullshit legislation. Like, say, the more expensivle light bulb (LOL - they contain mercury) and their fraudulen save the earth crusade costing us billions.

Obviously you never traveled to Europe and don't know anyone who lives their — OR — you are filthy rich which means you make your money off of others.

He might be stupid, but he is right. The economy is growing, just not as fast as it used to be. Just because the growth rate has slowed down, doesn't mean that that it has actually decreased.

I'm a proud European and compare to USA we are way ahead of you in every way. I stayed in the USA for 3 years and t tell you the truth it was fun and interesting but I would never stay there for the rest of my life and I would never raise my kids there.

OMG!!! I ask myself every damn day how he EVER got elected in the first place, never mind RE-elected. If he's dumber than dirt, what does that say about the 'majority' of Americans who elected him? IMPEACH the man, then send him to prison to pay for his crimes against America, not to mention the world. Please, don't say it 'delicately'.

I'm just curious as to how you bought 2 brand new cars for cash on your '$20 per week "allowance"'. Since it seems, by your own admission, that you 'married money', I don't suppose your in-laws gave you a hand up or anything? I'm older than you, a college graduate who has also worked hard her entire life, saved and invested as much as humanly possible, and am still nowhere near to having what you do. Of course, I also have children, was divorced from a 'dead-beat dad' when my youngest was only 1 year old, and I reckon parents don't do as well, especially after helping their children with college, etc. I have NO doubt I would be much better off now, as would my (also hard working) children if Bush had never been elected.

"I'm a uniter" meant "I'm going to tear this country to bits."
"They have weapons of mass destruction" meant "They don't have weapons of mass destruction."
"We don't torture" meant "We do torture."
So when he says "The economy is growing," he really means "It's growing worse by the day."
You have to understand the man doesn't really comprehend the meaning of words — or he hopes we don't.

How totally like a republican to assume that anyone who disagrees with him/her is uneducated. BTW, there's no such word as 'whinning', and what in heck is Arizona Stata? While I'm at it, @RoyBo: Calling the president dumb does NOT make us un-American. He is richer than us because his family is rich, he got into Harvard because of family connections, not because he was smart enough to make it there on his own, and there's no such word as bafoons. Neither of you is as smart as you hope to appear.

I'm honestly shocked that he hasn't been impeached. The fact that he has been the President of our country for nearly 8 years (AND miraculously made it into Yale when he was much younger and even more idiotic) is infuriating. This is the reason our country is falling apart at the seams. People lose hope when someone who is so uneducated and/or unintelligent can be the PRESIDENT of this country. The manager of the bookstore I work at isn't particularly bright, but she's a hell of a lot more intelligent than GWB. That's just too depressing to think about.

actually Perez, Bush is right. despite everything, the US economy is still growing, albeit at a rate of only 1% per year. a recession is technically two quarters of negative or no growth. so, despite what everyone thinks, the US is not in a recession.

    Re: Lizzz
Even IF the economy grew nearly 1% (and, if that's true, big whoopeedoo!) inflation has grown by nearly 35% for food and 50% or more for gasoline over the past few years. It will continue to grow by leaps and bounds. So, even if you are earning 5% more than you were last year, you are still worse off than you were, say 10 years ago when you were earning significantly less. That's the problem that none of you who are supporting Bush's statements have failed to address. You are the ones who need to study economics again. The current rates of inflation are making it impossible to live even halfway comfortable lives despite the fact our actual paychecks are getting a bit larger. The majority of us have had to make significant cutbacks in our budgets just to afford to put food on our tables, buy gasoline to get to work and pay the much larger share of prescription costs our insurance has enforced. Of course, the cost of insurance has skyrocketed also, and the benefits have decreased. Please, don't lecture us on economics.

Either way, he should understand the concepts of a recession, if anything at all, he should know this much… wow, do I pity your country.

As for this nonsense to not criticize the President, how can you not when he keeps providing the materials to skewer him with?! My 2 year old annunciates and speaks more intelligently than that!
The best excuse I have ever heard is that he tries to put his speeches in layman's terms LOL( heard that from a Republican)! If that's the case he thinks America is full of dumbfucks and we ALL need to go back to school.
Hope u guys remember not to criticize the President when Obama takes office!
