Lauren Conrad's unprofessional behavior left many people stunned and saddened when The Hills star had a diva fit and walked out on a charity event she was hosting in New York City on Tuesday, sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com.
The blonde was picked as the featured dog walker at the Animal Fair magazine's 9th annual 'Paws for Style' benefit.
Lauren walked the press line outside the event and then promptly left.
L.C. was supposed to be the finale of the charity fashion show and model with one of the Society's rescue dogs. She backed out suddenly for some unknown reason and she hurried off to the exit that minimized the "humiliating" (as she put it) experience.
The magazine tells PerezHilton.com exclusively that "Animal Fair funded her trip to New York City to come support the Humane Society at Paws For Style. Instead, she partied all week in NY and the Hamptons and failed to walk the runway for the big event."
Wendy Diamond, the editor in chief of Animal Fair and one of the judges on CBS's new series Greatest American Dog claims that Lauren Conrad is GUILTY of ripping off the Humane Society.
"100 percent of the proceeds from Paws For Style go to the Humane Society of New York, we do not take a penny," Diamond tells us. "If anyone would like to help make up for this costly mishap, please call the Humane Society of New York at (212) 752-4842 or visit their website: http://www.humanesocietyny.org/."
Someone paid for her trip to NY and she didn't live up to her end of the bargain????

I had adopted a 12 year old 4 1/2 pound Chihuahua from a shelter here in NYC and I have been using the Humane Society on 59th Street ever since. They are exactly what they portray themselves to be- Animal Lovers, Pet Owner Friendly, Economical, and HUMANE! I have seen both the very poor and very rich in their Brownstone under the 59th Street Bridge and all were treated with kindness and professionalism equally. Lauren Conrad should return every penny and then some. She should donate whatever she was paid right back and add another 25% for GP. Fucking Bitch!
This was on Good Day NY on Fox 5 this morning! One of their reporters was part of the show and she was also interviewing some of the celebs. When she interviewed LC, she asked her how she felt walking the runway with the dog, and LC's mouth dropped open and said "I'm walking the runway? I am?" and started looking around and asking people off camera if this was true. Then the reporter said that LC left right afterwards. That is so SHADY!!! She's too much of a celebrity to walk the runway with a dog for a charitable cause? Dumb bitch.

I totally agree that what she did was completely horrendous and she is an awful person, but why did the Humane Society pay her way in the first place? since it was for CHARITY she should have paid her own way instead of them using their much needed funds on her. Or MTV could have paid for it and used it in the Hills to try to soften her image. I am kind of upset that the Humane Society is using money that people donate for the animals to pay for C list celebrities to come to their events. Um, why don't they sue her? It seems like a fairly obvious breach of contract. Even verbal contracts are binding. Any lawyer would advise her to pay the magazine back ASAP before she gets taken to court. If they took her to court they could also likely get damages for harming their reputation as a charity and putting them at risk of being sued by others.

The proceeds of the event were to benefit the Humane Society of New York and help care for the homeless animals. I have been to the Humane Society of New York and it is a wonderful organization that helps many, many animals.
