Coming Back To Broadway!!!

Yes. Si. YES!!!
While shittier shows get revived way too often, West Side Story has not been on Broadway in like f-o-r-e-v-e-r.
Well, thankfully, that's all about to change!
A new production of West Side Story is scheduled to open on the Great White Way in 2009, it has just been announced.
Such an epic show!
And, this revival will have a little more flavor than any other production of the classic has ever had.
It "will introduce the unprecedented element" of selectively adding Spanish to the dialogue and songs!

Show director Arthur Laurents, who wrote the book for the musical way bak in the day, has said, "This show will be radically different from any other production of West Side Story ever done. The musical theatre and cultural conventions of 1957 made it next to impossible for the characters to have authenticity. Every member of both gangs was always a potential killer even then. Now they actually will be. Only Tony and Maria try to live in a different world…"
Laurents' West Side Story will have an onstage cast of 37 and 30 musicians in the orchestra pit.
Casting information and onsale date for tickets will be announced at a later date.
We cannot wait! We are soooo there!

My friend just got cast as a Shark in the production! I'm so exicted, you have no Idea! And I don't think it'll be Eden. She's not a very classical singer, like Maria should be. She's fierce, just not right for Maria.

Eden Espinosa is the perfect choice. None of the others mention even come close to her talent and looks.

Just a Rumor though, I hope it is true. I love her!
she's a belter, she could belt to a G, but I have never heard her legit soprano singing voice. Maria sings in a very classical/legit way, and the range is up to a high C.
Guys, everyone's saying that Eden doesn't have that range, but she's played Maria before and was fantastic!!! All power to her.
Eden Espinosa couldn't sing Maria if her life depended on it — she's a belter. Now, she might just make a killer Anita, though…
I cannot wait for this show!! I heard Isaac Calpito from "Mamma Mia!" was cast in West Side Story as a Shark! So awesome!!! He is gorgeous…his body is perfect…

West Side rocks…I don't think Eden Espinosa would be a good choice for Maria or Anita….i don't know who would though…such a hard role…
