maybe the mother of the 2 year old should have be watching the interactions between the dog and the kid,and 2 year olds don't just sit there and watch a dog they do shit that will annoy a dog or scare it, it's not the dogs fault that a kid was in it's space, and who knows what the kid did to set him off, and if the dog really wanted to hurt the kid it could of done alot more damage!
What's even worse is that the mother is smoking while she's holding him. Are you really that selfish that your habit can't wait five minutes until you're not ruining the air that your child is breathing in?

When I was a kid, I was bitten–once on the head–by three separate dogs on three separate occasions. Kids are kids, dogs are dogs, things happen. No one ever filed a report or called the police or had the dog killed or any of that hysterical crap. I mean, sometimes dogs bite kids because, well, unsupervised kids tend to do stupid stuff. I'm sorry this particular kid was bitten, but it's not like he was maimed or killed. You parents (and this includes you, Mr. CNN Guy) these days overreact to every little thing. The kid will be fine. ok, number one, the mom was irresponsible for smoking while holding the child, but she was totally right in kicking the other mom's ass. but number two, don't hold this against pit bulls. if they are raised right, just like any dog, they are sweet as can be. but a lot of people who get them, train them to be guard dogs and therefore more vicious. any dog that is trained to fight will snap on anyone, not just pit bulls. my step sister has a pit and i let my four year old play with it all the time, because my sister doesn't hit the dog and doesn't train it to be a guard type dog. don't blame this on pit bulls. and on a side note, i just moved away from toledo two weeks ago

Bad that the police didn't take a report on this because they should have had it on record. I applaud the Mom of the child who was bitten by the dog because she got something done…the owner of the dog turned it over to authorities without incident (thanks to the cameraman too)!

what the reporter failed to report was probably that the dog was provoked, and reacted accoridingly.. what do you do when someting is in your face and bothering you, you would snap.. then take into consideration the white trash family that that poor dog was kept in, i bet that there was no discipline, or structure for that poor animal. SO.. before you people go off saying that pit bulls should be killed, or that they should be banned.. (like the idiots in Ontario Canada) you should consider the surrounding circumstances.
