I understand where everyone was coming from. But I personally thing the N-word should be removed from the english and slang dictionaries as well as all other rascist terms. I think it was stupid for the one girl to get worked up over it, but I understand the part where she said that the word shouldn't be used. If you get upset for someone of a different color to use a word of that you use as endearment then don't use it at all. As a mixed race I find any usage of rascist terms offensive. In private or in public. Then again that's just my personal opinion.

I however, will not use the n word or any other racial slurs. I will not put my kids in a position to get in trouble for using useless, hateful words like that.
For the black people who enjoy using the word, it is best used in the privacy of the home.
It might happen that a young, non black friend who hears you use the n word frequently could awkwardly use it in the wrong place and get in trouble for it. Then that kid would be branded a racist. So please educate your non-black friends- if you have any non-black friends- not to use it and don't use it in front of them.

Asian parents tell their kids: Work hard and work smart. Save a part of every pay check. Don't buy expensive clothes, don't eat out everyday, don't get manicures every week and don't buy brand new cars.
Slowly but surely you will have money to buy a house and more.
Also, tutor your kids before they are failing. Have them take the gifted tests. Have them play an instrument and learn another language.

We all went to school and the history of American slavery was talked about frequently.
I have a brain and have deduced that slavery is an evil institution.
I have a heart and have imagined the heartwrenching pain that slaves went through with families being torn apart with no recourse by a wicked slave owner.
I have common sense to know this is wrong, that even when laws changed, not all whites had changed hearts.
I also have common sense to know that slavery ended 140 years/7 generations ago.
In this time black americans have gone from slaves to the wealthiest of Americans, beloved by countless whites. Celebrities, atheletes, scholars, politicians etc. An amazing achievement matched by no other country in the world. Interracial marriage is also not a big deal to whites.
Therefore when I hear yet again "YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT BLACK PEOPLE HAVE GONE THROUGH…" and I am made to be a criminal because I am white, I get a bit ticked off.
I am not unique, most white Americans do not care what race their friends and associates are. We simply want to enjoy life and have fun. We're really not the ignorant devils that angry, rich black Americans make us to out to be.

My kids are mixed, Chinese and Scandinavian. One daughter has a racially ambiguous look- dark curly hair, golden Asian eyes, broad nose and full lips.
This daughter gets along well with everyone. Many of her black friends have asked her what her mix is, as mixed race is common in the black community. Many think she is part black. Many think she is a Filipino mix.
Anyway, I tell my kids not to use racist language and I get angry when I hear a song that use the N word. I don't want my little boy to think it's ok to use it not only because it's WRONG, but because he could get beat up too and it just sounds low class. There's a mixed message sent by hip hop culture and it's not good.
I want my kids to be kind, productive, law abiding citizens who take responsibility for their behavior.

I think you're going too far when you say that if you're white you will never experience racism. Thats a huge generalization. Many people who are white are called names by people of other races (cracker, whitey, honkie etc etc) though I will not even begin to compare this to the racism that is suffered by blacks or middle easterners etc in this country, but the point I'm trying to make is that racism is felt by all races:asian, caucasian, latino, black, arab, and so on. Racism is the product of prejudice and an ignorant view on the differences of other races. Now I'm just going on obvious stereotypes for this example but-put a poor black man in a predominately white upperclass neighborhood, people will be prejudice and discriminate that particular man. I've heard from soo many people that whites have advantages but we don't, we may have some but other have others. we dont get college scholarships because we're considered a majority, but actually in California we are a minority. And in my opinion you can't say that another ethnicity other than your own feels a certain way. I don't know what kind of perfect dream world certain people think that we can achieve without racism, but it will NEVER HAPPEN. EVERYONE experiences racism. It could happen in your hometown, or in a country where you are the minority, whatever your race. Also, I am sick of hearing black people say that whites don't understand what it's like to be discriminated against as a black person because we're NOT BLACK.
