Lose your "story" Goldberg! That was how many years ago your Mom couldnt vote? How long you gonna carry that around??? Quit living in yesterday and realize TODAY is where we live. Sorry to say it, you do live in the same world as Hasselbeck, we all do. TODAY women can vote, blacks can vote and the "N" word is bad.
I agree w/ Elizabitch. Homegirl had some valid points to make, and she did (even though Whoopi and that other chick kept talking over her). To say that blacks can do/say something that whites can't do is exactly the same thing they bitch about: racism.
A couple nights ago a friend of mine who's parents were born in Pakistan called another friend who was born in the Phillipines by the "N-word" just because he had arrived unexpectedly and was really happy he had turned up.

Whites are a world minority..when do I get my affirmative action? My family was not in this country when slavery began and only moved here in recent history. I feel no need to make amends especially given that my family had no slaves nor took part in slavery per my genealogical records. The fact remains that the "white" world was not the only world taking part in slavery. Africans with full knowledge, sold the slaves to Europeans. In other words, Africans sold Africans to future Americans.
We cannot be separate and equal, so either we may all use the "n" word or none of us may us the "n" word….unless you actually want to revert back to that……

I didn't put anyones family in slavery, and im sorry it ever happened, but don't put it against me. Its horrible how they were treated but they aren't treated like that anymore. I agree 100% with Elizabeth. If we are expected to move past our past issues and try and unite and get to an equal ground then it is not right to say "oh we're allowed to use this term, but you're not". That is two steps backwards if you ask me. I don't see how a word can have two contexts just because two people of a different color are using it. Not all whites use it in a mean hurtful way and some blacks do use it in a mean and hurtful way so I think the word should not be said by anyone especially if we want to try and push past our history and move forward to a more equal and united future.

In case anyone who believes that has been living under a rock, there's this thing called affirmative action that gives minorities the advantage. And i think it's funny that everyone wants to be equal and yet they want special privileges. If you want to be equal then DON'T use the N word at all, among other things. Also, if Whoopi is still frustrated that her mother couldn't vote then she needs to find another way to deal with that other than yelling at Elizabeth, who i usually don't agree with, but this time she has some sense. The whole argument is really silly in general. I think this show has turned to trash and should be canceled. I mean seriously, there are bigger problems in the world, and especially in this country, than the N word. Get over it! Put all the energy used talking about it into something positive that actually matters.

I think one of my biggest problems with this is Whoopi Goldberg's determination to view herself as one of the poor, one of the downtrodden. The bitch is better off than 90% of the people in this country and she tries to cast her mother's Civil Rights fight onto herself. I'd like to know when the last time was she was made to feel any type of racism, especially in politically correct Hollywood, where she spends all her time.
Elizabeth Hasselbeck may not always communicate as effectively as the rest of the people on this show, but she's definitely right in this case. It's not okay for black Americans to throw derogatory terms around like that and then persecute white Americans for using them. It should be all or none…especially in today's society. The other black woman, I don't know who she is, tried to drown Elizabeth out by talking about "taking the term back" from white oppressors. That was a legitimate argument 60 years ago, now it's played out. I suppose she would like the government to pay her and her family for their ancestors having to be slaves as well.
As far as Jesse Jackson goes…he's an asshole. Always has been, always will be, I'm not shocked by any comments he as to make.
Lastly, to "war" on page one: your brother made his own decision to join the military, don't shit all over it.

Reverse racism… White people don't have black history month, we don't get spots held for us in certain jobs or schools even if we aren't truly qualified to get them, we don't have the government bending over backwards to help us, We dont have the negro college fund, the NAACP, there are a million different things black people get that white people don't. Whites are the ones who are discriminated against. Why is it ok for a black to call a white a cracker, red-neck, white trash? They want to be equal…BULLSHIT. Get over it, slavery was a long time ago, now you get everything you want.
I understand Elisabeth's point: it's difficult to reconcile the horror of using the n-word when it appears in a positive, funny light in so many pop culture references. SO when I'm watching a Chris Rock special, I have to frown every time he uses the N-word, instead of laughing along with all of the blacks in the audience? I have to pretend to be horrified and offended? That's ridiculous, and just not practical. When Hasselbeck said "we live in the same world", she meant we're all listening to the same music, watching the same entertainment on tv/movies, etc. I really didn't like the way they all jumped on her ass and talked down to her. Hasselbeck is annoying, but they treat her like dog shit on that show.
I'm half black and I actually agree with Elizabeth. I don't think we can move forward together if we are separated by that word. It just makes things awkward. Let's bring the races together, that word separates the races if black people can use it around their white friends. It just makes it awkward.
i am white and live in an area in which i am a minority and i find that word to be as offensive as any person of any color. my family is mostly conservative caucasian and native american and they have used that word- not around me bc i think that using words like that are not moving forward, are ignorant, and abrassive. i am also native american and i do not refer to those of my same heritage as 'white trash' or 'squaws'. i think that it is putting EVERYONE back fifty years in intelligence, acceptance, and respect to use such words-no matter how old you are, where you live, or your ethnicity. there are no "allowances" or "exceptions" to racism

You are super scary!! Have you ever heard of the Constitution of the United States? The First Amendment is FREDOM OF SPEECH. That means whites, blacks, mexicans, japanese, chinese, french, anyone who wants can say the N word if they choose. To say that black people can say a word that a white person cannot say is RACIST and discriminatory. To say that everytime any white person says the N word they are saying it in a derogatory sense is also racist. Sorry. I have heard white people call other white people the N word. wow! for once i actually agree with elizabeth. if black people want the n word out of pop culture and the music industry, etc, they're just going to have to stop using it amongst themselves. i do understand whoopi's point, but black people are just going to have to realize that as long as they continue the use of the n word, others will as well.

This word as a whole represents such ugliness and to try to say well in pop culture if said by a black person its different, at your house…its different will never help people move forward to equality. i am with Elizabeth 100%. there should not be a double standard when i come to this word. either it can or cannot be used.
