We learn something new every day!
We revealed yesterday that Katie Holmes has been wearing gloves and long sleeve shirts to cover her freakily discolored hands.
We thought she was sporting purple hands for her appearance on ABC's Eli Stone.
But, a few insiders in the know informed us that Katie might have taken part in a Scientology purification ritual that caused her hands to go purple.
Yikes!
According to reports, the purification ritual is called the Purification Rundown or Purif.
Peeps going through the process take 'vitamin bombs' to get 'toxins' out of their bodies.
A source says that in almost every single case, Scientology founder Hubbard recommends dosages in his teachings that are well above the safe limits, in some cases as much as 142 times more than the toxic level. The side effects of such huge overdoses range from liver damage, hair loss, brain swelling and nausea up to fatal heart and respiratory failure.
The cleanse also prescribes huge doses of something called niacin. A report says large doses of niacin can cause liver damage, peptic ulcers, and skin rashes. Even normal doses can be associated with skin flushing.

Has anyone else noticed that ever since Katie has been with Tom she is starting to look alot older than she really is??? I realize people's looks change some as they get older but she isn't even 30 yet and looks like she's in her 40's, the golden girls haircuts don't help either.

I totally thought she home colored her hair without gloves. I really, really do not think that is niacin flushing. Niacin flushing usually appears as red face; it's like menopause hot flash. Katie dipped her hands in something and ended up stained. I've done it, although it's hard to imagine what Katie would be getting into, she surely does no housework. Maybe something for Suri, or some craft/hobby thing. Perez, my hands are darker than my face for one. Her hands look fine in all the other pictures. I used to dye my hair in dark colors without using the gloves and the dye would turn my hands brown for a few days. I'd have to cover them good otherwise people would think my hands are dirty. The Purif is actually a very healthy thing. Firefighters and others that worked at ground zero did the purif and were able to rid their bodies of all the harmful toxin associated with the collapse of the twin towers. Yes you do take supplements, but there are all in the normal range of safe dosages.

that is the best story ever. I am a pharmacist and niacin, in normal dosing, causes extreme itching. In higher doses, the itching becomes worse, specifically in the genital area. It is horrible (some people have been given the advice to take high niacin doses to pass a drug screen- I feel so bad for them as 1. it doesn't really work and 2. it is so horrible!)

There was a picture of her in the New York Post today and she was covering up her hands, but it looks like her feet might also have the same discoloration because she was wearing high-healed sandals with black nylons….possibly to hide her feet as well..???
I'm pretty sure her hands are that color because shes starving herself, her blood pressure must be way down, thus her blood is not pumping fully to her extremities.
